    Dissapointed

It will not play music on any of my IPOD docking devices. Just charges it. I really can't justify buying new alarm clocks and music cubes. Yep really disappointed and hope Apple comes up with a solution.

Great Device if it Fits Your Needs

    • Written by from Stokesdale

I bought 2 of these when they first came out. At first I was a little disappointed with them thinking they would not fit through my cases/covers but, as it turns out, they fit just fine. Perhaps a little snug for some cases but they still worked great. What I love most about these devices is that I can switch between old and new technology with the same cable, especially if I'm on the road and don't want to carry a bunch of cables. I'm buying 2 more now because I have more places where I can use them. Just make sure it will fit your needs and will work with your setup before buying.

    From good to bad

    • Written by from Audubon

I purchased this product so I could charge and play my music from my 5th generation ipod on my ihome. It worked perfectly for about 7 months, but now it doesn't. For some reason, the adapter only lets me charge my ipod. Some of you may be saying that maybe theres something wrong with my ihome. Well there isn't. I tried the adapter on 3 ihomes and 1 bose docking station. The result left me unsatisfied. Whats the point of having a brand spanking new ipod if you can't even use it for it's main purpose- listening to music at a high volume. I am very disappointed with the degrading of this product. I never even abused it. It was always left attached to my ihome. I hope apple with fix this product.

    Works well, but annoyingly expensive

    • Written by from Redmond

Great adapter, works with my iPhone case although my wife had to get a different case for her iPhone 5 to get the adapter to work for her. My only gripe is that $30 is way too much for this tiny thing. Ideally I would want to have a whole bunch of them, but at this price I only have a couple, which have a tendency to get misplaced.

    Almost returned as defective

    • Written by from el Centro

I read the reviews. Some said it would not fit the phone if a cover on it. I tried with a thin bottom of the line Belkin. The adapter would not lock in. Removed the cover and it worked.i will just need to remove when using it. Only using it for car charger at this time.

    Perfect for my car charger

    • Written by from Wyckoff

This works great with my case. I needed one for my car charger and this is perfect plus I can take it with me if I need to. A little pricey at $30 but it seems like that is the standard with apple. I can only imagine what we will have to buy for the 6 cause all the other stuff is not compatible. I do love my Mac though and when I have to use a pc it's torture!

Does not charge the iPod in a Scion XB

    • Written by from Overland Park

I got this so I could play music from my iPhone in my Scion, as well as charge the iphone while on the road.

This adapter plays the music OK, but doesn't charge the phone. Returning and will just buy a normal lightning car charger.

    More Information would be helpful

    • Written by from Bourbonnais

I just got a new iPad. I already owned several 30 pin adaptors from my previous iPad. I thought that purchasing a Lightning to 30 pin adaptor would allow me to use the two video cables that I already owned. However, the adaptor does not support video! It would have been nice if Apple had put that information on the box. So much of what Apple does is great and I love Apple products. I just wish that they would find a way to help us avoid buying new accessories every time we upgrade!

Gets the job done, but beware...

    • Written by from Chicago

...It's not well built. I use this every day with the iWavit which is a small IR/RF transmitter that attaches to a dock connector. I do not think they have plans to make a lightning connector version, because it works just fine with this adapter. However, I wish they would because I'm currently on my 3rd adapter and I just ordered 2 more. This way at least I save on shipping and have backups ready for when this one inevitably breaks. After daily use for several months the lightning connecter protrusion begins to feel slightly loose, which is when you know it's almost dead. Sometimes fiddling with it a little can fix it temporarily, but eventually the thing will become completely useless. I haven't tested my broken ones for charging (no need since I have the included USB to lightning cable to charge my iPhone 5 with) but in terms of data transmission to my accessory it does not last long.

    Take off case

    Horrible

    • Written by from Beverly Hills

The only reason I bot this was to play music on 30 pin speakers. It's only charging. Why not just by a lightning bolt charger. It's just playing stupid.

    Excellent!

This adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do... I've used it with old dock cables, but it really came in handy with my Logitech PureFi alarm clock, and now with my iHome iA100 system. All features work on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Even enhanced features like updating the iA100's firmware.

    Does not charge

    • Written by from Madrid

It does synchronize information with the computer, but does not charge: through a computer the "not charging" message appears right away, while through a plug it does start charging, but after a couple of minutes the charger overheats and the "not charging" message is shown on screen (luckily it did not start a fire, since the charger did get incredibly hot)

Bad enough I can't use any of my stereo or other systems but this simply does not work! I feel my IPhone 5 is a major step backward. I say this as a previous diehard Apple fan. Please find a solution that allows me to connect to my personal stereo system as well as Docks in hotels.

This only charges my iphone 5 on the docking station. It does not play audio. Now what do I do - buy the new Bose for iPhone? I don't think so!! Waste if money and waste of time. You advertise that it will do the job - yet it does no such thing!!

    Works well

    • Written by from COCKEYSVILLE

Ok let me start off by saying this... You must be a few fries short of a happy meal if you think this adapter is going to work with all cases. This adapter is OBVIOUSLY not going to work with all cases just because of its size. I could tell it wasn't going to fit my LifeProof case so I had two choice. Return the adapter or the case. I returned the case and went carbon fiber skins to protect the phone since I don't drop my phone, leave it on the hood of my car and drive off and I don't go swimming with it. If your cellphone is your main source of communication then you will cherish it with or without a case. Apple designs the iPhone to stand out from the crowd. Someone a few hundred feet away can tell you're using an iPhone unlike others. This adapter works perfectly as it is designed and use in the proper way. Don't give it a negative review because you can't simple look at the adapter and see if it'll work with your shield, bumper, or heavy duty case. Normally speaking this adapter is slightly cheaper than the charger itself. ESP the car charger. So you have to think will you need to use the 30 pin adapter again like if you have an iPod classic, Nano's or iPhone 4 or 4s's or an older version of the iPad 2. If you said he's to any of those then you need to purchase the adapter and that's your best solution. If you say no then it's up to you depending on the case you're using. I can tell you right off the bat it won't work with LifeProof cases, otterboxes's or any other case that sticks out a few millimeters. If you're using an extremely thin case or as case that doesn't cover up the bottom of the phone then this is your best option so you won't have to carry multiple cords on you. Would you rather carry a cord or a small adapter? I would rather carry the adapter. It work well for me and I have the iPhone 5 and iPad MINI. Think logically before our basing or leaving a negative one sides review. This is meant to help people and not be a public complaint center. If you're here to complain then you're in the wrong place as it says "reviews" not opinions/complaints.

    Works great, BUT ....

    • Written by from Hamilton

I purchased my Lightning to 30 pin adapter direct from the Apple Store and it worked perfectly with my new iPod Touch and all the devices I plug it into: Bose SoundDock Portable, iHome clock radio, various car and home stereo adapters, etc.

I would give it 5 stars except for the high cost and the loose-ability factor.

The one and only problem is that this thing is SO TINY !!! Lost mine last night somewhere, and at 35 bucks they ain't cheap to replace ! These need to have some sort of lanyard or something attached to lessen the chance of loss. Going to buy a new one this morning, will try and figure out someway of harnessing the little gizmo.
