    TERRIBLE DESIGN

Though this adapter works fine with 30-pin cords and docks, it doesn't work with most iPhone 5 cases. Because of its terrible design, it doesn't reach far enough to connect to an iPhone 5 wearing a full body case. I'm astonished that apple can make such thin and revolutionary phones, but can't make an adapter that doesn't require you to take your case off every time you use it. How about make it in the shape of a triangle???

This is my 3rd IPhone, and have always be pleased with the phone as well as accessories. No more, Went to my local AT&T store to upgrade to the I5. I also purchased a new SPECK cover that is designed for the I5. My husband inquired about an adapter to put into my other car charger that went with my 4S. Was told no problem so I purchased the adapter for $29.. The only problem is it will not hook up to my phone because it does NOT extend far enough to go into the plug opening. I am returning it to my dealer.....So it's not compatible..really

than the cord that came with my iPhone, which sadly only works in certain positions. I've had my adapter for a few months now and it works really well to charge/sync my phone. It also connects to my Bose SoundDock with no issues.

    Overpriced w/limited compatibility

Have major investment in Bose Soundock & Pioneer Car stereo w/30 pin iPod/iPhone connections, sound & controls work fine but they do not charge my iPod. For the jerk calling us morons, not everyone goes out & replace everything to match some new technology, & there is very little directly supporting Lightning right now. Not charging my iPod is a BIG thing to me, especially after spending $29 for a small but wide chunk of plastic that I had to carve part of my 1st case to be able to use it.

    Morons.

Everyone who keeps reviewing this bad saying they bought it to use with an iHome or something similar and complaining it didn't work is a moron. If you couldn't tell that this little adapter wasn't going to support the weight of your phone, or iPad then you deserve to have spent 30~45 dollar for nothing. Especially with the fact that the Lightning Connector is tiny as heck. This worked fine for me for converting all of my cable based accessories. Other than that, stop being cheap and pick up a new dock. You spend all this money on a new device and then you're mad when your old devices accessories don't work with it? Grow up. This is how it's always been. Welcome to real life.

    Kind of a problem...

We bought this when we got the new ipod nano for my sister. We thought it would work for this one charger she has (its like a round ball and the charger part is the width of the ipod touch) and we thought we could use it for her new ipod but since the charger is off center on the ipod nano when we plug this into her radio...well we cant, Its to wide since its off center. So now we cant use it. I thought I could also use it for my ipad mini with our ihome for the ipad but when I put it on there my ipad would lean back really far and It worries me. It looks like it could break off. So it basically serves no use in our house now.

to large to work for me

    • Written by from Reynoldsburg

24 of 33 people found this useful

My problem with the adapter is it is to large. I purchased so I could charge my ipad on my ihome radios and charger but the adapter is so large it raises the height of the ipad when placed on the charger. The ipad is raised so much it is above the back support and simply falls backward. Bascially for me it is unusable. I don't worry to much about it though because I sure within a year or two Apple will make a change forcing us to buy another different adapter.

I have a high end ipod dock. Using the Lightning adapter is causing me big issues. The cip does the work for 10 minutes or so but then stops . I basically cannot use it anymore. The old ipod or iphone were much better.

Yes this adapter works for the gen 7 Nano, but the lighting adapter is offset on the Nano and plug is centered on the 30 pin part. So if you are using this to enable the use of your gen 7 on an accessory that's gen 6 or lower it will rather annoying. It will sit crooked on your accessory.

    Extremely POOR item

Wasted $30..for nothing more than a charger. Would not work as a adapter for any of my docks. Apple markets itself as a high priced superior product line. If Apple was so concerned about it's "quality" it would provide a easy all purpose adapter for the new "5" items. I am a recent convert to Apple and I am SOOOO disappointed.

Works to allow synchronization using a 30 pin-USB

    • Written by from Cordova

15 of 22 people found this useful

I used this adaptor to allow my iPhone 5 to work with a 30 pin cable. I needed to do this because the original lightning cable is very unreliable. The lightning cable stopped working during the first week of ownership with the new phone.

This adaptor allowed me to use the more reliable 30 pin cable to synchronize with my Macs and PC. It synchronizes with the old cable very well and allows me to use the alternative cable.

Apple must realize that the new lightning cable is of poor quality. I was thinking of the returning the phone. This is a big problem with the phone 5.

No audio out on my Griffin iTrip in my car. No audio out on my RCA speaker dock. I have a slim Otterbox case and the adaptor won't fit unless I take the hard shell off. For a company that became famous for sleek, user-friendly design, this is a real clunker.

    Adapter is useless

Just received this device and applied for return to Apple. Device is essentially useless. Fits so loosely in the iPhone that it does not make contact to sync or charge the phone and almost falls out if you hold the phone vertically. Not characteristic of Apple quality at all... surprised and disappointed.
