Excellent fit, easy to use, small, light weight. A bit expensive, but, that is apple.

    Stop complaining

For those who are having a fit about the connector not working with a case, how do you expect them to make something that will work with every single case out there? They are all different! Stop being lazy and take the case off or buy more 8 pin connectors and come into this decade of apple products with the rest of the world!

    Will not work for video

I have a 30 pin to RCA A/V cable to can hook up the iPad/iPhone to the video system in our car and on older TV's. This cable worked great with our older iPad and iPhone that used the 30 pin connector. Now that we have upgraded to new devices, this lightning to 30 pin adaptor will not work for video. All we get is audio and no picture.

Don't get it. I bought an iPad mini for my videos and got the adaptor to view my videos. Got it at an Apple store where they told me it would work with my videos. Big disappointment!!! Will be visiting Apple.

    flimsy

I also have a case and it didnt connect with the adapter. When I removed the case and plugged it into my clock radio port, it was flimsy and moved easily. I suspect it would break the radio or adapter in time.

    Hmmm read before you buy

I purchased this as it was assumed it was purely an adapter to 30pin from lightning. This is not the case. It will provide audio and charging ( so if thats all you needs then its fine).

However it was purchased as i go to a gym that has the matrix gym equipment allowing you to use your iPod/iphone to view video/music and use nike+

When it was plugged in, said device not supported, and only audio tracks were attainable. But i suppose its my fault for not reading the website. But i asked the genius guys and they said it does the same job as if id put in a lightning cable direcytly.

Why on earth video and other features arent supported is beyond me.!

    Another New "Bad" Apple Design

I'm a long time Apple user and make my living using Apple products. Recently I've been disappointed with a growing number of Apple's products and software, feeling they are a step backwards instead of forward thinking. This adapter is on that list, as no thought was given to how this adapter would work with an iPhone in a case, any case. They changed the plug but left the main case the same shape as the old 30-pin plugs. All they needed to do was make the plug a bit long or have a 'step' from the base to the actual plug that would work with new case designs. This should have been a no brainer, but unfortunately Apple clearly wasn't paying attention. I bought 2 and I am going to try and send them back, they are totally useless to me.

    Waste of money

I bought one of these to enable me to connect my new iPhone 5 to the 30-pin connector on my Sony clock radio dock. I have a very ordinary snap on case to protect my iPhone. Whoever designed this adapter forgot that most people protect their phones with cases. The lightening pin is much too short to accommodate the case, so it's a $29 piece of useless plastic for me. The cord version works fine, but is a less than elegant solution as I now have to find a way to rest my iPhone on the nightstand instead of it being properly propped up on the dock itself. Very poor design, Apple!

you have to remove the iPhone from the case to use this adapter. very inconvenient. and in my opinion, the adapter is too costly.

    Car Head Unit Adaptor

    • Written by from Pakenham

Plays music when attached to my Pioneer head unit with 30 pin plug. Does not charge the Ipod though. My old Ipod when plugged directly would play and charge the Ipod. Now I have to continually bring the Ipod out of my car to charge whereas i used to just leave my old one connected permanently.

Apple really need to come up with a complete working solution since they decided to change to the lighting plug. I now have docking stations and more that are either useless or only partially working with the new connector.

The adapter is small and nice, but the lightning end will not plug into the phone if you use any kind of iPhone case.

Disappointed to find that it won't work with a case

These work fine, however, like the others have said, I was really disappointed to buy two of these only to find that they won't work on my phone with a case on it. I guess I should have considered that before buying them, but now I'm stuck with two of them that are essentially useless to me unless I want to constantly fight with the case to remove it in order to use them.

Works in BMW and Bose portable sound dock perfectly

Works great!!! Love how it is only an 1" by 3/4" small... Super tiny.. and to the others who complain about the case.. almost every single product you attatch any iphone or ipod to suggests you remove your case before plugging it into there accessory.. I know what a painstakingly difficult process this is.. to take 3 seconds away from your precious life is soo annoying. HaHa

I bought 2 of these. Wish I could return them. Pin is too short if you have a case. I just threw $60 away.

    Case Issue

Since I use a lot of items that I like to plug my IPhone in the only way to go is to get a Slider case. This way when you need the bottom of the phone just take the bottom half off. The case I'm using now also will let me connect even with the case on. I got the case at Best Buy. The brand is Incase.

    Expensive but works

I am puzzled by the reviews that state that the adapter doesn't work with iPhone 5 cases. I have an Otterbox Defender and there is no bigger heavier case out there and the adapter fits fine. Obviously, there must be some cases with this problem. If you like Speck cases and are having a problem, get the Speck Flip. This adapter does what it's supposed to do but it's radically overpriced. I recommend getting only the minimal number you need as eventually there should be cheaper alternatives made by other manufacturers.

I bought one yesterday and was so excited to connected it to my vehicle's media system, so that I could listen the songs from my iPhone while driving. It could not connect because of using a phone case, so now I have to take off the case everytime when connecting the phone to the media system.
Apple should not be this dumb, not consider the iPhone customers using the phone without a case.

    Bose Sounddock II

    • Written by from La Plata

With Bose Sounddock 2, this adapter charges iPhone 5 AND plays music. I have to admit that I tried to save some money and bought a generic adapter when these were out of stock but they only charged the iPhone 5 and did not allow music to play through the speakers. I wish the adapter could have been included in the package with iPhone 5 but this $30 adapter makes my $250 Sounddock work again. Thanks.

    Not compatible with case

I had the same experience as the others. I bought this thinking that I have a ton of 30-pin charging cords around the house and family members using older apple products so I could use this to convert one of the charging cords that I use regularly. Not the case unless I want to remove my case every time I go to charge it, which isn't going to happen.

I guess this might be good for an ihome dock to convert it but I would wonder if the piece would be stable enough since its design would leave the phone unsupported on the bottom.

The USB to lightning cord is cheaper than this connector so I'll probably just get another cord!
