Bought this adaptor hoping to download pictures from my D7100 camera. Yet found that it cannot read SDXC card beyond 32GB.....really becomes a white elephant...nice to see, poor to use

    One way transfer

I'm becoming annoyed at apple's habit of glossing over these accessory capabilities, as well as their assumptions about my wifi access. You can transfer pics TO an ipad, but not off. You must use icloud or dropbox to transfer photos, which seems easy, IF you have wifi, which is not the case at my work or school! To print a single image, I have to plug the ipad into a computer, download the files, then transfer them to the sd card for use elsewhere. All this because they don't even give you an option to transfer ANYTHING off without wifi or a computer, which kinda defeats the purpose of having an ipad. Beware.

False Advertising by Apple on "SD card reader"

I had no idea there was a 32GB limit to which SD card it could read. I have a 64GB card and plan on getting a second 64GB card for my holidays, only to learn after the fact that this "SD card reader" can't read SD cards! After thinking I had a faulty product, find through reviews here that there is a limit - 32GB and lower. An overpriced, inadequate product by Apple.

    Doesn't work and is expensive...

Bought this to edit/browse photos from my two SanDisk 128 GB Class 10 SD cards...find out it doesn't work with anything better than a 32 GB card. Haven't tried a cassette tape on it yet.

    Really, Apple? Really?

Two things need to be fixed: it needs to read newer cards, and enough with the "has to be formatted like a camera photo" bs. Give us what is most useful, not what is most profitable, or I swear my next tablet will not be an ipad...

Does not work with iPhone 5. Does not work with memory cards bigger than 32gb. I have a pair of 64GB SD (one's SDHC, one's SDXC) that are both useless.

Doesnt work with 64 gig! Rubbish

If apple had stated that this does not work with 64 gig cards I never would have bought it! Completely pointless me having it now unless they have a magical update coming that will fix the issue.

Wanted to use it to transfer different videos off of my GoPro and naturally with it using quite a lot of data to record HD video I spent a bit more buying a 64gig card.

If it worked it would be a great (but very overpriced) item but now its just an overpriced piece of junk. Thanks Apple!

Great Product but lacking iPhone 5 support

I was very excited for this product to only find out it does not work with the iPhone 5 only the latest iPad and iPad Mini. Hopefully Apple can fix this with later updates as I was able to use the prior 30pin connector SD Camera Reader with previous generation iPhones with no issues.

Doesn't work with Lexar SDXC cards

Definitely mixed reviews on this item. Apple support said the adapter "should" work with SDXC cards. I'm using a Nikon D800E with Lexar 64GB SDXC... inserting into an iPad 4. Tried formatting card from computer, have used JPEG and RAW formats- no luck. Support, although polite and courteous, was not able to find a solution.

I plugged in my Lexar Professional 400x SD Card via the adapter into my 64GB iPad Mini and it says "Content Not Available - Cannot read the connected storage media". It make the product pretty useless for me. Wish I had checked it before I left on holiday with now no way to transfer my photographs since I was relying on this.

You had the sense to make it FIT, but not enough to make it WORK

I had two sales people at apple tell me how this was EXACTLY what I was looking for to get pics from my SD card to my iPHONE....... I drive an hour away, put it in my camera bag, a few days later take some pics and want to send them.... 'this charger is not supported blah blah blah'

I hope this is fixed during an update, as it's things like this that are Making our awesome Apple stuff be surpassed by PC stuff.

This compatibility is elementary, I bought everything from the same manufacturer, same store, Is it THAT much to assume the people working inside said store should be confident that everything can work together?..........circle of success

Please show me some ownership and resolve this like the old days.... it's a 6" cord we're talking about here!!!! It's got to be some code that could be tweaked to allow your parts to be compatible

Reader doesn't recognize jog export from Lightroom

Well that's a huge disappointment to say the least! The reader doesn't recognize jpg photo's exported from Lightroom. As a professional my workflow includes Lightroom, not IPhoto.
Looks like the purchase was a waste of time and money spent.

I have a SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC 64GB, and it says card not supported. Used in a Sony RX-100, shooting raw (ARW).
Most camera products provide compatibility information before you buy. This incompatibility makes my mini iPad (64GB) useless as a travel tool. All these products are current and theoretically top quality. Why don't they work?

I wanted to backup my camera photos to the ipad and work with them. This only allows you to import into the camera roll - not any other apps. AND - it reduces the files size. I tried importing several jpgs in excess of 4 meg apiece and it reduced each one to less than half a meg. Just unacceptable. It should allow me to import into any photo app at the full resolution. It's not like this adapter is $2.00. If you only want lo-res snapshots you won't be disappointed. You are slipping in the polls Apple - and it is deserved. Lately it is one frustrating update after another and nothing but difficulty getting your products to work.

Does not work with iPhone 5

But for the life of me, I can't imagine why Apple would prevent it from working with the iPhone 5. This would have been the perfect solution for me to upload my high quality DSLR pics for editing with iPhoto and then on to the internet remotely, but for some reason, Apple does not allow this item to work with the iPhone 5. Guess I'll have to buy an EyeFi. Seriously, Apple, why not?

Bought a new iPad 4 this week and went to the local BB and purchased the SD reader. I should have read the reviews, it does not work. I tried 4 different SD cards and nothing happened. I thought Apple products were better than this!

I just bought a $800+ iPad. To easily import photos I had to spend an additional $29 on this transfer cable. Loaded up over 1 gig of jpegs on an SD card, hooked up the SD card photo transfer thingy and... Nothing. I get a screen that states "You have no photos to download." Why does everything Apple require so much effort?
