    Unusable

    • Written by from Smithsburg

I purchased this product to take on a trip so that I could review and upload my photos to shutterfly. Unfortunately i will not be able to take as many photos as I would like as this product does not work. I have purchased several types of SD cards along with using ones I currently own and it just will not read the card. I am returning this one and will wait and hope a better model comes out as this seems to be a problem that many people are experiencing.

    Depends on the card

Used the camera reader on my new iPad Air with a card from my digital photo frame, didn't work. Tried an old 512mb card found in an old camera, worked great! Bought a new 32 g, sandisk sdhc ultra, Doesn't work!!! Obviously it's the card!

Bought this for a vacation I'm going on since I'm not planning to take my MacBook Pro on the road. I can now take pictures freely with my DSLR and transfer them to my iPad in a matter of 1 minute! Simple and easy to work with. I recommend it to everyone!

Works as it should with my devices

I am confused as to why so many are having issues with this reader. This is for iPad only and not iPhone or iPod; that would be nice.
I am using this on an iPad mini 1st generation with ios7.1.1 and a Sandisk 8gig sdhc ultra card formatted with a Nikon Collpix L120.
Maybe it's the sdhc or the ultra speed of the card? Maybe it's the version of ios? The reader I bought had been opened apparently and returned to Radio Shack because the internal packaging was damaged so it did not work for somebody else. The format of the pictures and the protective lock on the card should be considered as well. I put the card in the reader, pluged the reader in the ipad and the photo app opened automatically with the import icon. It also gave the option to delete the copies on the card, nice. I susspect you Google employees need to stop reviewing Apple products as well, I have seen evidence of that here.

    SERIOUS QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES

How can you sell a product that only works 50% of the time? Oh, that's right: you are the guys that use the most flawed map data base on the market:(

I use a Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 GB in my GoPro and it reads it fine. This is a very handy addition to my IPad mini.

Two Readers, Two Ipads, neither work!

    • Written by from Winter springs

I bought two of these card readers and tried them on my Ipad Air and my Ipad 4. Both ipads gave me a message that the device was not supported. I switched the reader and still had the same problem. I switched the SD cards, and STILL had the same problem. At $30 each for these non-working trinkets...I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!

    Does not recognize AVCHD videos

    • Written by from Toronto

I have a video camera Panasonic HC-X920 that shoots both videos and pictures. I am using a SD-HC 16 gb memory card. While the reader can import pictures into my IPAD, it does not recognize the videos clips that are in AVCHD format. Huge disappointment

    Adequate

    • Written by from Tucson

I almost didn't buy this because one review said pictures were imported at a lower resolution. Not true! I did experience that when I backed up photos to the iPad, then loaded them onto my desktop via iPhoto. But that is a "feature" of iPhoto. (When I say "feature", I mean "serious design flaw".) Instead of iPhoto, use Image Capture to get full resolution. I'm using 32 GB SD cards, and take high-res JPEG (no RAW), so other issues don't bother me.

"This accessory is not supported by this iPad."

    • Written by from Phoenix

This is the message I get when I plug it into my iPad mini. I get the same message when I plug it into my brand new iPhone 5s (substitute iPhone for iPad in the message above). I have used these kinds of card readers before so I know how they should work. I even went to Photos to see if the Import icon would pop up but no. Very disappointing. Is it a quality control issue? Sounds like some of you get it to work just fine so maybe 1/2 of the card readers are faulty. Will go back to the Apple Store and try some others...

What size SD card will it read

    • Written by from Middle River

I tried this with a 64 GB and a 32 it would not read the card. Tried a 1GB and it did read that and work as it is described , but that does not do me much good if files are 3-4 GB each. So what size card will it read. At this point I returned the card reader and card till they come out with something better

    A big disappointment at best!!!!!

    • Written by from Saida

Put the SD card in the card reader, put the card reader in my IPad Air: nothing happens! Tried everything suggested by the reviews above and still nothing happened, there isn't even an import button. Used my 8GB card with my old 30 pin connector card reader for my old IPad 2, success, so the problem is in the new card reader, not the SD cards or the file types (especially that the SD card is strait from my Olympus Pen Camera).

    Flawless

I have used this multiple times and have had no issue whatsoever with my iPad Air. Plug it in, go to "photos", and click "import" below. I can pull 1080p60 (yes, 60 fps) video or 720p120 from my GoPro Hero 3 and from my Canon SX700. It is excellent because I can then open up those videos in iMovie and make smooth slow-motion videos. I use SanDisk Ultra HD cards. I have yet to use a 64gb card due to some user reviews about having trouble with that, but I am going to get one and try it out here soon.

I was surprised at all the negative reviews. I am guessing some customers must have camcorders that use incompatible file formats.

    Works Flawlessly

    • Written by from La Puente

I think those that say "nothing happens" are unaware that you have to go into your photos and press the "import" button. Nothing pops up when you insert the SD card. I use mine with a iPad Mini Retina and a 64gb SanDisk with no issues. I even move the entire DCIM folder from my cf cards to the SD card and am able to import images from my DSLR. The ONLY wish item I have is that this would work on the iPhone as well. Other than that no issues.

I needed a device to store photos so I went out today & bought the iPad mini & this little guy. I almost didn't buy an iPad cause I was worried about being able to transfer pics easily. I was still hesitant after seeing the reviews, but thought/hoped I could figure it out. This was incredibly easy to use. Popped the SD card out of my camera & into the SD Reader & the iPad basically did everything else. Great product, very easy to use!!

Tried to use with Ipad Mini and nothing happens. I have read every trick and Does Not Work. SD HC 8GB. Does Not Work. Apple has not supplied one answer to this on any website. Waste of money and now I can't use Ipad Mini for trip to France. I can't chance it.
