connects nicely to my iPad mini

    • Written by from BEAVER FALLS

I have not used this for very long but so far it connects well to my iPad mini. It recognizes both my 32GB and 64GB SD cards which I used on my Canon ELPH. I was worried when I read some of the reviews but I plug it in with the card inserted and my iPad recognizes it and opens my photo albums.

    Works Perfect

    • Written by from Santa Rosa

Purchased in February 2015 for my new 128gb iPad Air 2.
It worked exactly as advertised. No issues at all.

It is a simple straight forward way to transfer photos from my camera (Canon) to my iPad.

The reviewers who had connectivity issues may have missed the compatibility list or made assumptions that this reader might work with devices other than those on the list.

The reader also worked perfectly on my wife's 2 year old mini iPad.

Work great for what I need it for!

Insert SD card into the reader and then the lightning end into my iPad Mini and the Mini instantly recognized my photos and downloaded the full files size onto the Mini. Although I don't use raw files I did try the setup with raw files from my Leica. A couple of notes on the raw files. If you shoot raw with a jpeg it'll only download the jpeg and not the raw file, however if you only shoot and use the raw file only it'll download the full size raw file. I'm happy with the camera reader in the way it works and it's very fast with downloading from the card.

Works Great!. Sorry it doesn't do the dishes...

    • Written by from Portage

This little cord does exactly what it says - allows you to copy photos from your camera's SD card to your iPad. I don't know what all the complaints are about. I guess some people feel that for $30, something made by Apple should cook dinner and do the dishes as well!

first off, all the 1 star reviews are dummies who bought this for their iPhones. I use it with my iPad mini 2 and it couldn't be more perfect. it is simple, quick, and easy. I used to import on my pc then email to my iPad and this is soooooo much better. thank you!!!!

Bought this to work with my iPad Air. I've had no issues whatsoever!
As for those being disappointed with it not working with the iPhone 5/6 series, before I ordered I did notice that in the compatibility chart it didn't mention a single iPhone. Even though I was hopeful that it would work, I wasn't surprised when it didn't.

Great with iPad, but not with iPhone

    • Written by from Auckland

Great for reviewing images taken on DSLRs and the likes on the larger screen of an iPad. Sadly it doesn't work on iPhone, including the iPhone 6 Plus as of today. Given the large gorgeous 5.5 inch screen, it would have been nice to be able to use this on it.

Apple, please enable this accessories on iPhone 6 plus !!

Worked fine for me with SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro

    • Written by from Ostrander

Have thought about buying this reader for some time but finally broke down and got it to take on a trip where I may have to unload images in the field. I have high speed 64 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro cards (SDxc). The unit took a while to load the images in memory for preview but it worked like a charm. Just what I needed.

    Works Beautifully for Me!

    • Written by from Middle Village

Game Plan: before I purchase any device, I do my due diligence. I checked here for compatibility, thoughtfully read the reviews, & asked more questions at the Apple Store. Armed with my iPad Air and a 64G SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card from my Sony DSC-HX400V "bridge" camera, I bravely took the following steps:
    1. Made certain that card was not locked
    2. Inserted card into card reader
    3. Opened Photos App
    4. Inserted card reader into the Lightening Port
    5. Selected import
    6. Chose the images, not deleting from card
    7. Removed card reader from port & replaced card into camera
    8. Went on with my life, bombarding friends & family w/my beautiful photos on my beautiful iPad Air
While I agree that "iPad Lightening to Card Reader" would be more helpful on the packaging--especially if you're making your purchase at Big Box stores where they will sell their Grandmothers for commission--I can honestly say that this reader does the job it is meant to do, & quite well.

Despite bad reviews, this product works perfectly.

Ordered from Apple.ca on a tuesday, and arrived at my front door the same Friday! I was super pleased with FedEx shipping in Canada. Now for the adapter itself, I was a bit skeptical because of all the reviews saying it doesn't work. I'll tell you right now, it works exactly as advertised. I use a 32GB SD card from my Canon ELPH 340, and I slide in the sd card, plug in the adapter, and the photos app launches on my iPad mini, prompting me to import the pictures. I believe the adapter supports only JPEG and .MOV files, but I haven't tested any other files out yet. One last thing I'd like to point out; if you're trying to load up the SD card with movies to watch on your iPad, make sure you place ALL picture/video files in a folder named "dcim" on the SD card, or the iPad may not recognize it. Overall, I'd say even for it's near 50$ price after canadian shipping + taxes, it's still worth it in my book. And if it ever quits working for some reason, there's a 1 year warranty, or I'll bring it into the Apple store in my city.

I was amazed by the negative reviews that I had read regarding this accessory, I was having second thoughts before buying it. Finally I made up my mind and decided to try it in the store before purchasing.

I have an iPad air and I use a canon 60D and I only shoot in RAW. It is super simple, super fast, even when dealing with RAW images. The iPad was able to identify all of the pictures (even all the videos in my case although the store said It won't be able to deal with videos, but lucky me right? =D). The import process was easy and fast considering the size of RAW images. I was able to deal with the RAW images in all of the supported applications with no issue at all. The only annoying thing that I had found (which is only a preference related issue) is that the iPad after importing the pictures ask whether you want to delete the imported pictures where in the first couple of times I deleted the pictures by mistake from my SD Card (I would prefer if apple added an option where people can choose to not get this question).

I don't understand the issue with all of the other reviewers and if some of them are just dissing this accessory so consumers can focus on other 3rd party accessories.

This is a must buy for all photographers like me who were sick of being forced to include a laptop in the process of editing and posting pictures.

Took less than 5 minutes to test. Used an iPad Air, RAW files from 5diii (regular JPEG would work too), and a San Disk extreme 16g card. Able to transfer raw files just fine. Some of my iPad editing apps would not open file. Used SnapSeed app 1st then save image to camera roll. From camera roll you can edit using any app because I believe Snapseed saves as JPEG. File resolution is adequate for the iPads retina screen. I'm only using this for social media. I've read the files are trimmed.

I only use 16g cards to reduce the chance to loose data.

Be aware if you have a 64g card this reader will not work.
