    Horrible Charger

    • Written by from Sleepy hollow

I have had to buy 3 or 4 chargers in the last 5 months. I don't know what is is that makes these chargers break so easily, but it is costly and annoying. The iphone 4 chargers are much better and hardly ever break. Apple definitely should not have created a new charger for the iphone 5.

To start, I am not one to write negative reviews but I purchased a new charger about 6 months ago after my cat chewed through my existing one. I made sure to protect the new charger and cord so I wouldn't have anymore issues with my crazy cat. To my surprise the charger has started loosing its connectivity AFTER ONLY 6 MONTHS OF USE!!! I have to fidget with the phones placement until it lands just right in order for the phone to charge. This can take several minutes if I can get it to work at all. There are no punctures to the cord and I don't even coil it tightly. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH APPLES CHARGER QUALITY. For them to provide such high quality in all of their other products I would hope they could produce a functional phone charger that lasts much longer than 6 months. As a previous Droid owner, I can say that every single one of those chargers are still fully functional. SO FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED :(

    bad quality

Please correct the quality of your lightning to usb cable. I am disappointed at the poor quality of your usb cable. For $29, your usb cable should last at least six months. It is frustrating my iPhone won't charge because of a defective usb cable and I am on a business trip.

    The worse cable ever!!!!

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Unfortunately I'm forced to buy this worthless cable again because if you buy 3rd party chargers they say they aren"t compatible with my devices. This is the 5th cable I'm purchasing and it seems all the lightning cables are horrible and Apple needs to get it together and produce a product that works longer than one month.

    Disposable grade cables

    • Written by from Kingston

The idea works great, and are well engineered. However, I think they are deliberately fragile. I am on my third $30 cable now, less than one year in. The durability of this cable is worse than the fake one I got off ebay.

    Does not last long!

    • Written by from pacoima

Complete bs apple! They update their firmware so you cant use 3rd party cables and buy their cables. Now, if thats not bad, the lightning cable itself does not last long! I bought TWO genuine apple cables and both have some pins corroded/burnt out. Thanks apple! Extremely dissatisfied

This is going to be the second replacement cable I'm buying. I find it ridiculous that Apple cannot solve this problem of the cable getting a "turtleneck" and then stop working after a few days. Since I do not have time to go to the nearest Apple Store, I have to wait for shipping and I cannot use my device until then. If these cords cannot last more than 6 months, they shouldn't be so pricey. Overall, I'm very disappointed in this product.

    Terrible Cord

    • Written by from Granger

Cord did not even last 2 months, and looks like new. Also plan on waiting an hour to get a new one if it breaks after driving 45 minutes to one of their apple stores. Terrible customer service. Not sure why everyone likes this apple stuff so much. Over priced junk!!!!!!!!

    Breaks very easily

    • Written by from Patchogue

My 17 year old son received an iPad Air for Christmas and two of these cords. He is not rough with the cords and uses them to charge the iPad when he is not using it. One of the cables has already broken inside the casing and it was less than 5 months old. For $30 I expected this product to last a lot longer than 5 months.

I never bought this item, I have only owned aftermarket , which have their faults, but are much cheaper than the ones shown here that seem to fail just as often... Maybe they are one in the same...

    Poor Quality Cable

    • Written by from Idaho Falls

I purchased this cable from an Apple store and it only lasted a couple of months. The cable is not thick enough and is susceptible to bending and breaking.

I'm about ready to go back to my Android

    • Written by from Tulsa

Apple, why won't you fix this cable issue. I have bought 3 Apple original cables direct from you and they stop working after a few weeks. This design is obviously seriously defective. I'll going to have to sell my iPhone 5S and go back to Android just because I can't get a decent cable to charge my phone. Infuriating. It saddens me that a company that used to take pride in it's high quality products has given in to manufacturing cheap quality products made in China I gave you several tries, but you just lost another customer.

Infuriating. Why isn't Apple doing anything about this?

    • Written by from Portland

So angry and disappointed. How many abysmal reviews will Apple get before they address this incredibly expensive and infuriatingly simple issue? These cables are garbage and stop working for no reason. I'm sick of replacing them. Everyone else is obviously sick of replacing them. Get your act together, Apple. If you're going to force people to buy expensive proprietary accessories, they should actually work.

I would give ZERO stars if I could

    • Written by from Melrose

What is up with these chargers?! I am on my 4th one now and they just STOP working. It's incredibly frustrating and as other have said it is very UN-apple like for them to not acknowledge the problem or back their product. After a couple months, I plug it in and it's buzz buzz charging buzz buzz not charging then I get a message that the accessory is not compatible...um it's an APPLE product. Then they stop working all together. I've been an iPhone user for the past 5 years but this issue with these chargers has me reconsidering iPhones. I also think the fact that they won't properly charge the phone is killing my battery much quicker. Totally disappointed with Apple.

Does not fit ClamCase for iPad

    • Written by from Minneapolis

Since this is an Apple product, I assumed it would fit my iPad Mini with the Clam Case. The original lightning cable that came with the iPad works just fine with the ClamCase. I needed a longer cable, but surprise! The pin head is shallower and fatter (just slightly enough) than the original and does not work with a case. I'm having the same issues with audio jacks that don't fit either my iPhone 5S (with an Apple case) or iPad with the ClamCase. I do hope Apple starts to make its OWN accessories so they fit the cables. I'm not giving up my ClamCase, but I won't buy another overpriced Apple cable or phone case since their own products don't fit one another.

    Terrible product!!

    • Written by

Well first, i would like to give the product no stars. I have spent over $200 total on your lightning connectors that break in a week. The 32 pin connectors were perfect. I feel like downgraded chargers. I noticed it was thinner than the older ones so that makes them more likley to break. If it is called the "lightning" connector, why does it take longer to charge! it has DIED on the charger before and i honestly think it is a waste of my money. I think you need to make major improvements.

If I could rate this 0 stars I would. These chargers are so expensive and are horrible. They break within a month of having them even though I am extremely careful. This has to be my 10th cable I have gotten this year. It's getting to be a little ridiculous and almost makes me want to switch to android so I wouldn't be spending so much on these cables. Come on apple... step your game up.

    to much money

    • Written by from Henderson

I have already spent over $150 on the phone cords alone.
I really wish apple did not change it to the lightning, my ipod cord from over 2 years ago, works perfectly fine. these cords maybe last a month or 2.
I have bought different ones from apple, amazon, belkin. just seems like nothing will work for my iphone 5, it would be much cheaper to just get a different phone

These chargers are a rip off. I have been through around SEVEN chargers now after only a few months. I have tried this product, as well as the amazon knock off product, but neither work. This product has caused me A LOT of frustration and money. I am one very unhappy customer, and have honestly thought about switching phones just to save money in buying more and more chargers.

Poor Quality Lightning to USB Cable

    • Written by from Amarillo

This cord lasted 3 months. It will not charge my ipad at all. I will look for a better product to charge my Ipad if one exists. I think the cord connector is flimsy and looks to be stretched where it connects to the plug.
