You pay the price you get the quality

    • Written by from Vincennes

I have bought amazon.com junk lighting connectors I ordered two of them at once and got them in the mail one was broke on arrival and soon the other broke. So finally I bought this cable which is the same length as the ones I purchased elsewhere and you can feel the cable difference. Worth the money to have the longer cable.

Downside- apple should send these with the device...

    Worth the money

I was very relieved to hear that Apple finally came to terms with releasing a longer USB cable.

I have tried the cheap 6' cables from eBay on several occasions. I came to find out that the quality of the charge just wasn't in comparison with OEM charger and cable.

I took a chance when I ordered this cable in hopes that I wouldn't degrade the quality of the charge in attempt to gain some length. Upon arrival of the cable, I noticed that the cable was significantly thicker than the shorter Lightning cable.

After a few days of testing, I am pleased to say that the quality of the charge is the same; if not better than before. I highly recommend this to anyone needing some extra length for charging.

    A Long Cord.....Finally

    • Written by from El Paso

Finally Apple made a cord that is long enough to allow your phone to comfortably lay on a nightstand without the use of extension cords, etc. Great job!

Spend the cash and buy the Apple brand

    • Written by from Scottsdale

Seems like the other post was related to an off brand not an Apple product. You can find these cords for a few bucks online but you get what you pay for. Generic versions either will not charge or charge so slowly that even after being on the charger overnight it's not 100% full. At least for the Apple chargers and cords spend the money and buy the brand name or you will be wasting your money.

Why wont they make this standard size?!

    • Written by from Oakland

I love my 6ft cord. It allows me to roll around in bed, phone in hand, without having to worry about accidentally unplugging my charger. This cord is life changing. Lol Kidding. Sort of. Due to the length of the cord it does tend to bend and gather up at the ends of the charger, but its okay. It's covered by Apple's amazing 1 year warranty. Just make sure to keep your receipt and they should exchange it with no extra charge.

Great product... I don't know what everyone else's problem is

    • Written by from Wausau

I love this cable. It's a lower gauge cable so it's a little thicker than the stock one and what I'm guessing everyone who says it's so fragile does is puts the cable at an extreme angle right before the connector to strip the wiring. Of course it will break if you stress it and yank it out of the socket or the lightning connector but if you're like me and take care of your expensive apple products you will have no problem. With some other long cheap cables that I've bought the charging speed reduced but this cable preserves the original charging speed if you use an apple charger that came with your phone. Don't listen to the uneducated and ignorant reviewers, if you use this cable normally you won't regret your purchase.

Complainers are abusive to their cables

    • Written by from Plano

I have had the same Lightning cable that came with my iPhone 5 on launch day 2 years ago. It is used constantly and has no issues or signs of wear. You would think it is brand new except for its discolored from handling for 2 years.

If you cable is breaking it is because you are not taking care of it and are twisting it too much. There should not be strain on your cable when it is plugged in.

I think since the Lightning cable was introduced... since it can plug in "either way" people just pick it up and jam it in and puts tension on the end of the cable. They set it down... pick it up and use, set it down... pick it up and use... and every time they do this they twist it further.

Take care of your equipment people and it will last.

    Best adapter in existence

    • Written by from Springfield

I've used the Apple 30-pin adapter for many years. I've also used other USB formats (micro A, micro B) etc. The Lightning cable is far superior to any of those designs, for several reasons:
    * It is compact.
    * It is reversible.
    * If your Apple device is plugged in, you can lift the device by the cord, due to the way the lightning cable "snaps" into the device.
    * Because of the beveled angles of the charger, you don't have to plug the cable directly into the iPhone/iPad—you can start by plugging it in at an angle and it will straighten out as you push it in.

While it was unfortunate to have to replace all of my 30-pin adapters when Apple moved to Lightning, it was well worth it.

    length upgrade

    • Written by from Winona

Sure are a lot of negative reviews on the charging cables. My wife and I must do something different because we have each had our iPhone 5 for two years and both still use the original cables. Not sure why everyone is having so many issues. A co-worker picked up an off brand 5ft cable from the phone store and experienced a connection problem but not with the Apple cable.

Love the additional length and durability!

    • Written by from Ingersoll

Notice others have commented negatively on the 2m cord. I purchased one for travel and my night stand for daily charging and have used it every day at home and away and its still like new. I especially like the additional length at home and in hotels when the outlet may not be close to the bed side table when charging my iPhone or iPad.
No complaints and it is much more robust than the the 1m version.

Expensive but not the cheap quality some claim

    • Written by from Milford

It's a cable, that's it - a cable. I've seen a lot of reviews on here complaining about how this is their 4th or 5th one - most of which allude to children, pets, or something else along those lines. I've had 4 cables total (all apple lightning cables) since the iPhone 5 came out (fall 2012). None of the cables have given me ANY issues. Then again, I'm a young professional who doesn't have pets that chew through cables, children who eat/bend them, or the IQ to try and eat or treat my cables like play-doh. Only complaint I have about the cable is that it is horrendously expensive, but you can consider that the "apple tax".

Love the cord, held up just fine for me

    • Written by from Dallas

Spent the extra money on Apple's cord after hearing generic cheap ones (Amazon, etc.) had fried some friend's iPhones. Extra length is very helpful to have next to my bed, and I've had zero issues with cord quality. Not sure if I'm just a lucky one who hasn't had any problems? Either way, very happy with my purchase.

Excellent Length!!! Excellent Price!!! Excellent Quality!!!

    • Written by from Orlando

The 2m length is perfect for charging the iPad or iPhone while you're using it. The pricing is reasonable, it is not cheap but it is not expensive as a third party cable. I have never had a problem with this cable. I find that the majority of reviews are very biased since the reviewers are not using their cable correctly. If they're complaining about a simple cable, I would hate to see their devices. They vent out their misuse and abuse on the cable rather than trying to take care of it. Stop pulling on the cord and pull at the plug!!!

    Excellent Cable!!

    • Written by from florence

I'm very tough on my phones and this is a big improvement over the 30pin cable. The fact that the port on the phone is so much smaller it has less of a chance to get debris and it might just be me but my iPhone 5 charges much faster than my iPhone 4 or 4s.

    Long Enough

    • Written by from Gardena

I purchased this 2-meter cable for primary use at the office. It is long enough to be plugged-in from the power source at the floor all way up to my standing desk. Good quality cable, so far.

Yep, I bought the cheaper ones on Amazon too, but I should have just bought this one. Been using this for over a month, daily, made to last, longer cable and super fast charge and it appears this will last a long time, don't waste your $', you only need this one.

    Nice and long

    • Written by from Cumberland

Power outlets are most often in the most inconvenient places. Sometimes it's just a struggle find one that's close enough. With this longer cable, you can still use your device comfortably even if it is charging at a far away outlet. Another thing is that the cord (but not the plug) is just a tiny bit thicker than the 1 metre cord Apple gives out with new iPhones and iPads. This makes it feel a little less flimsy.

    Love my longer cable

    • Written by from San Antonio

I have not had the issues that others have here. My cables last until my cleaning lady runs the vacuum cleaner over it and shreds it or until my cats have decided to chew through it. Just using it for my phone, it is conveniently long and lasts until the previously mentioned incidents.
