    It's somewhere in between 2/5 and 3/5...

    • Written by from Grove City

It works perfectly when it's not broken, but that only lasts a couple months.
I just had to buy a new one very recently, and then that one broke too. The cord seems to be bunching up at the top and for some reason that's causing it to not charge anymore. Apple really needs to fix this, because I don't have the money to keep buying these.

    Not attached properly

Just cheap junk. Already not working. You can see where the connection is no longer attached. Would be better to buy a knock off. There might be some quality then.

If you don't treat the cable rough it will last a long time! I have had mine for 6 months now and it's still going strong!

    Poor quality! Broke again

I purchased my first cord 12/2012 and by February it didn't work any more. Purchased another one in February and just yesterday 3/22/13 that one stopped working. Please Apple, increase the quality & endurance of this power cord as it is a necessity to use your products!

    No good

    • Written by from Saint Louis

Got my iPhone 5 on October 2. The cord immediately began to twist up. When I went to the Apple Store after a month because my phone was heating up and not holding a charge, the Genius Bar guy just told me to be careful with the cord. Tonight, the battery is completely drained and the charger doesn't work at all. Will have to be at the store first thing in the morning. 5-1/2 months and I can't use my phone. The new cord doesn't make sense.

I was looking for my extra USB Cable for I had for my car...could not find it!! Called my husband to check in the laundry. OH _ _ _ _, he washed the cable when he washing the pullover I had the cable in. When I came home and tested the cable after being water logged...it worked perfectly. Yea for me! Most electric cords die when immersed in water...not MY Lighting to USB Cable! Thanks!

PS...you could make these another foot or so longer!

Mine stopped working after 4 months and I know it's real one 'cause I got it with my Iphone, I thought it was my own fault until I saw I'm not the only one with this problem. Apple should fix this 'cause buying a new one is very expensive!

    REALLY APPLE!?

    • Written by from Chandler

I am on my third cord in three months. First of all the chargers aren't getting any cheaper, and I am so sick of having to buy them every month! I am now in desperate need of a new charger AGAIN! I have 6 functional chargers for my 4 and 4s... WHY APPLE? did you have to change the port size? the original plug in for all the ipods/etc were just fine.

    Liking the smaller connector

    • Written by from Fresno

Haven't had any issues with the cable and I like the smaller connector. I haven't used the dock connector for years now, preferring Airplay streaming, where I can carry the phone around like a music remote instead.

    Broke within 3 months

I got the new iPod touch for Christmas. The cord worked great until 3/17/13. The outer part of the cord and the wires tore by the iPod plug. Other plugs to my iPad, my mom's iPad, and brother's iPad are still in great condition. These plugs we have had for 2 years now.

Fragile cable! I've had 2 begin to fray at the connection point of the cable and phone plug. I'm very disappointed in Apple with this cable. It's also over priced but with out the usual apple quality.

    Extreme lack of quality

    • Written by from San Juan Bautista

This charger is extremely bad! My first one stopped working after 3 months, I've had my current one for a month and a half and its starting to be dysfunctional. I opened up my other cable and it seems that one of the two wires ripped apart. I assume that you can fix this by soldering but I don't have a kit. Stay away from this, if you can find an aftermarket one!

    Cord pulling apart ...starting smoking

    • Written by from algonquin

I have only had my iPhone 5 a couple of months and my cord started pulling apart. It then started smoking:(. I have had iPods and iPhone 4 for years and never had a cord problem. I am sad this cord is such a ripoff and expensive to replace

    Short lifespan..

    • Written by from DALY CITY

I'm a loyal customer to apple for over 5 years now and out of all the products and chargers I've had this is by far the worst! I've had it for about 5months since I bought the iphone 5 and it has given out on me! It has the shortest life span out of all the products I bought..

    The genuine cable works fine

    • Written by

I have four lightning cables (for work and home and car) and I've never had a problem (since last fall). Of course I bought my cables at the Apple store and not from Amazon or ebay for $10, so I'm sure I'm using real cables and not one of the millions of fakes that so many people are using. I bought a cheap cable at JFK while on a trip and the thing stopped working within 3 weeks!!! Those people having issues may want to check to see if their cables are cheap copies or the real deal! No one I know with real cables has had a problem yet.

For some reason this new usb decides to stop working in a short period of time. My first one lasted 3 months before it wouldnt charge my phone anymore. Apple store replaced it. 2 months later the brand new usb is not working either. extremely inconvenient. my old iphone usbs never had any problems. this needs to be fixed immediately. traveling and being unable to charge your phone is a problem.
