    Terrible product

    Wow 15 pages of complaints. I hope they will improve on the quality of this cable. I am always careful to plug it in and keep the cable straight but it still tore open the casing and exposed the cable inside. This has happened twice in a short time.
    Using electrical tape for now. Not impressed with how cheap this is and hoping to find a better one out there. Perhaps another company can make them compatible to apple and I will be the first in line to purchase.

    As many have noted, they look nice and sleek but don't last long at all. Do yourself a huge favor and shop around for a better option.

    I own several Apple products and I do like them, but I'm really getting sick of these charging cords. They stink! For $20 a pop they should last more than 6 months. I do not work, I don't bring my ipad and phone to several places and keep charging...The cables are used once every couple of days in the same spot. This stuff is junk. It's time to listen to your customers and either lower the price in half OR make a better product!!!!

    I've been a apple user since I was in middle School! I still have my 30pin charger from back then working perfectly fine! I had just purchased my iPhone in November 2013 since then every month and half I've gone to the apple store to get a replacement charger from them because it keeps breaking at the same spot. I keep it in the same spot and don't use my phone while it's charging. I'm not happy with this.

    This Cable is a Nightmare

    I've had almost every generation of iPhone and this lightening cable has been a nightmare. I need to replace it every 2 months, this last one lasted a week. When I purchased it the guy at the store told me "What are you doing to it?" ... Nothing different from the other cables. They aren't sturdy and stopped charging unless they were in a certain position after one week of buying it. I hate them!

    I've bought so many, all failed!

    At my house we are huge Apple fans. All of us have iPhones, iPads, Apple TV in every room and yes our computers and laptops are all apple. Yet I feel apple should at least reduce the price of their chargers because they are ridiculously expensive for something that won't last long. Please make better chargers Apple! If love you even more. And even more if you would replace all the ons I have already bought!

    I love, love, love my Ipad. I totally hate the lightning to usb Cable. I am very cautious with my cords and I have had to by 7 with in the last 3 mos. Talk about piece of junk!!!!!! Please make a good product at a fair price that will last atleast 6mos and I will be happy.

    Improvements over 30 pin negated by poor quality

    I have 5 cables (2 from iPhone 5, 1 from iPod, and 2 purchased from apple store directly). 3 of the 5 look like the 4th pin from the left is gone so now I can only get them to work on 1 side of the cable and only if I move it slightly to the side. The oldest 2 are less than 2 years old. I was going to rate this 2 stars then I remembered the price of the cables so I'm knocking it down to 1.

    I got my charger with my phone, and it ripped in half in a month and a half. Really disappointed the fact that these cost a lot .

    Apple’s worst design

    I gave this one star because it does charge in the beginning. The lightning cable stars crinkles near the end that plugs into the phone or iPad which causes the cable to quit working. I have been through three and thank goodness my warrantee is not up yet. I bought my daughter a iPad and she has been through two with the same problem. I love my iPhone and my daughter loves her iPad, in writing this and enough complaints maybe Apple will change their cable to a stronger durable one.

    $19 for a cable that will end up splitting in various spots. I dont care how fancy the box is but you cant put lipstick on this pig! Horrible

    Keep Breaking

    I'm very careful with all products I buy, never had any problem with the old USB cables, but this one seriously takes the biscuit. We have 4 USB cables at home and currently only one of them doesn't have a split. It seems that the insulation around the wires is always coming away from where it meets the lightning connection... It's getting a little annoying now! sort out your build quality!

    I have purchased 4 of these cables in the past 2 years because of my increasing need to have this cable. I have gone from 1 to 3 IOS devices in this amount of time, and I don't see anything wrong with the OEM cables. I can't say the same thing for the third party cable sold outside of apples website, but I have never broken any of my cables. They last so long, I lose them before they break! I have kept these cables for 18 months at a time, charging iPads, and even under a high load of 12W iPad charging, these things DONT BREAK. :)

    Awful quality.. especially if you consider the high price

    I have bought two cables and both are really struggling at the moment. They charge only under one specific angle. So i have to buy two new cables, which cost a fortune! This isn't the quality i am used to from apple.

    I have been a faithful apple user since 2006 and have owned multiple apple products; macbooks, ipads, ipods, and iphones. I have had the Iphone since the first generation came out and never once had to replace any cable. I have had my 5S for 8 months now, and just purchased my fifth cable cord. I have bought all of my accessories from Apple or from AT&T (my provider) and the quality in this product is absolutely disappointing. I hope that Apple takes a look at all of the negative reviews on here and does something about it. I will be forced to buy another phone/tablet in the future if I have to continue to replace the cords. APPLE please do something about this horrible product, this is way beneath your standards.

    The failure rate of the charging cables almost criminal.
    Speaking of iPad 5.

    I strongly recommend taking a good look at what the competition
    Has to offer with regards to tablets that won't require the upkeep
    That the iPad needs.
    I find Apple to be more "sizzle" than substance.

    6 months with the phone already bought 7 chargers for it . They all broke at the same place. The last one I bought I decided to put electric tape around it and still broke after 2 weeks. Very disappointed with this .

    Simply awful

    I have bought countless replacements for these little chargers and I'm sick of it. They break constantly and it's not even like I'm misusing the product or not taking proper care of it. Pathetic for a quality brand like apple to produce something like this. The old chargers worked fine and I would rather have one that works than one that's smaller and breaks all the time. Don't fix what isn't broken. I'm expecting a free replacement.

    Poor quality

    I prefer the design over the old one as it's much smaller, and reversible too. But the problem is the build quality. I've looked after my cable well, but the outer sheath has come away near the connector. I've put some tape around it but I think it will stop working soon. I got the cable with my iPhone 5 so it's less than 2 years old. My friend's cable stopped working last week and hers is just 15 months old. I talked to the manager at Apple Ginza but he would not replace it. Just told me I should buy a new one - at 2000yen! If it's so expensive, the least Apple can do is ensure it's quality. Very disappointing!
