Chord is low quality, not up to apple standards

    • Written by from Minneapolis

These chords are terrible. Yet another one just gave out today. The common problem seems to be where the chord connects to the head, it always breaks internally or something like that, no matter how carefully I treat it. I'm fed up with buying these - if you're going to sell a low quality product at least sell it at a price that reflects the quality. Won't be making the jump from ipod touch to iphone until you solve this quality issue. 1 star for the limited use I get out of these.

TERRIBLE SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT FROM APPLE

    • Written by from Kingston

There really needs to be a recall, I've been through 7 of these cables and I'm about to buy another. For normal usage, which includes holding the iphone while charged & resting it against my chest the cable is not strong enough.

There needs to be a recall

    • Written by from Homer Glen

I've gone thru so many Apple USB Cables it is not even funny. They aren't cheap either. I have a 3rd Generation iPod Touch on its original cable cord and a 5th Generation Touch on its 5 cable or so. I finally decided to go to a third party because they last longer than the Apple Cord. Apple needs to do something with the new USB Cables because it is terrible that they keep going out.

    disappointing

    • Written by from Montreal

The cable lasted a little over a year of normal use, bedisde, charging my iphone every night. The part of the cable just below the lightning jack seems worn out, apparently from bending (again, normal use, honestly), and now the connection drops randomly. So I have to replace it. For twenty bucks you'd expect the thing to be a bit more durable.

    The Least Durable

Broken again! Anyone has any solution?

    • Written by from Atlanta

Here is my purchase record: 4th for iPhone, soon will be the 2nd for iPad. My first cable lasted pretty long (the one came with iPhone 5, it lasted for more than 1 year), but then things get worse and worse. The most recent one (come with iPad Air) lasted no more than 3 months. Yes, I am definitely not that careful as I used to be. But assuming people be careful all the time is just like assuming there will never be a car accident and design a car without airbag. I cut a cable once and looked inside. Wires are arranged in an 'coaxial cable' way, to get the maximum current through. But the part connecting to the pin is so rigid, and the isolation (also the cable skin) for the wire is so soft. I can image every time it's bent, how much force was put onto the outer layer of the wires at the connecting part. Just like cutting the wires with a blunt knife. That's why it's so fragile. And I think the quality is also going down (a little bit). So Apple, there are the solutions: 1, redesign the cable; 2, fire the company make cables for you, and find a better one; 3, put Applecare on the cables. Pleas choose one, or more.

WORST WORST QUALITY CORD EVER MADE

    • Written by from Sangre Grande

I have been through several of these cords in the past few months. What a waste to have a phone with a charger that barely lasts a couple of weeks. I have had my iPad for 3 years now and I have never changed the cord. Something must be done about this grossly inferior product. I will never buy another iPhone again once these are the cords that charge them. Sorely disappointed!!!!! I give it zero stars but 1 is the lowest they have.

I was excited about the new charger, but WOW.

    • Written by from Bruce

Barely works. I'm going to try a new one to see if there's just a flub in my cable somewhere. Having a phone you can't charge reliably means I'll be switching to Droid if this continues. What an epic failure, Apple.

    This Cable is TERRIBLE

    • Written by from Northport

I have 3 iphone 5s in my house. So far I have probably gone through $200 worth of cables. There is no difference between Apple cords and imitations. They are all BAD. They only work for a couple of months or days and then break. The only thing I have that has consistently worked is the adapter cable, but for $29.99 that's a pretty ridiculous price. I am very disappointed in this product. At this moment I have 4 cables and only one works. It is wrapped with electrical tape because in addition to the obvious problems, the construction is so weak that unless you keep everything pin straight, the plastic around the wires wears away...

... whats up with the negative complaints

    • Written by from Martinez

The cable will go for years if you dont throw it around, step on it or otherwise harass the cable. I've had mine ever since the 5 came out, and its not even starting to show signs of fray or damage. Good job, Apple. :)

    Poor product from Apple

    • Written by from Nashua

These cables kink easily and break in short order. I'm not rough on them, and have not had any other cable ever break, from any manufacturer. These are defective and should be recalled, especially for the price charged

    It doesn't last.

    • Written by from Fredericton

I have been through so many of these cords in the past couple of years. The old cord that I had with my iPhone 4 was much more durable and lasted. I have had my iPhone 5 for a little over a year and have been through 4 cords.. this is getting pretty expensive and I think Apple needs to start backing their product. I can keep affording to purchase a new cord every couple of months. It's getting pretty ridiculous.

    Worst piece of #%€*

    • Written by from palm desert

3 feet is 2 feet to long or 3 feet to short. At home 3 doesn't let you sit more then a foot away from the wall. In the car it won't reach the back. This wouldn't be such a problem if this thing lasted as long as the phone. But nope The quality is absolutely abysmal if you use your cord more than once a day you going to need to buy a boat two of them to get you through one year. The cord where's out right at the very tip phrase the metal in the inside and periodically lights on fire I would give this zero if I could but I can't. Ps I've never had one problems with my USB micro that's 6 feet not one. Build a better cord.

    Iphone 5 chargers!!!!

    • Written by from Bellingham

I have probably spent 200.00 in chargers!! this is outrageous!! We have had our iphone 5's since about February or around there and have had to buy a ton of charges. There is nothing wrong with the cords, we don't yank on them or misuse them. When we go to plug in the lovely charger, it won't charge the phone. Just beeps off and on. Until they completely won't work, I have literally been able to hold them to the phone and sometimes bend the cord a bit and it will charge for us. This is not ok! I know the Iphone 4 chargers weren't this bad. I am writing because guess what, another one of my chargers have gone bad, and I got it less than a month ago! FIX this problem!!! This is not worth having this phone if I am spending 2 and 3 hundred dollars a year on chargers!

21$ for USB cable so expensive.. In 1 year already bought 3rd..
    stops working after 2-3 months.
Not expected this from apple, After so many complains still not trying to improve quality.
Its better to use 5$ compatible duplicate cable.

    Plzz fix this issue.!!!!!!!!
