    Weak link in the chain...

    • Written by from Port Moody

I love my Iphone 5, but I have just about had it with the charging cable. I had a 3GS for years and NEVER had to replace a cable. Now I am on my 4th IPhone 5 cable and it is about to go. Please tell me if there is a solution to this situation...

    Breaks all the time

    • Written by from Asheville

This is honestly the worst charger I have ever had. I've had my iphone for 6 months and am already on my 3rd replacement charger. The problem? A bubble forms at the base of the cable, which is the connection fraying inside from rotation. You would think that for all of Apples amazing technology, they could at least make a durable, reliable charger. So frustrating.

    This charger is HORRIBLE!

    • Written by from Alpharetta

I have purchased 3 of these chargers ($60) and they all broke very soon. I take very, VERY good care of these chargers and they break for NO REASON. One of them (My first one) broke in 6 weeks.... 6 WEEKS! I didn't do anything, but nonetheless, your charger's cables snapped from the inside. Another one broke within a DAY of me buying it.... It just didn't work. Apple, you better make these chargers better, because I'm not buying another one every time one of your chargers breaks on me. Your products are the worst, I'm gonna get an Android the next time this happens.

    Cheaply made and overpriced

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

My daughter's iPod lightning cable broke after about a year. For ~$20 a pop, I expected these to be quality cables. I don't care if the cable has 30 pins or is small like the lightning - I just want the phone/iPod to charge reliably (which obviously means the cable can't break on a regular basis). Having a $20 cable go out every year (or more often, judging from the other reviewers) is not acceptable.

I wish i could of rated this with no stars....
okay seriously apple why haven't you stepped up your game on the design on these lightening cables. they're poorly designed. I expect more from your brand. I've gone through 4 lightening USB cables in the past year. I just bought one 2 months ago and today it crapped out on me! Like why can't you come up with a better design where the wires dont get all messed up and stop working. its not "USER DAMAGE" its on your end of the manufacturer and design team thats got problems. I dont think ill be wasting my money anymore on your cables. i think ill buy a Belkin. i heard they're more dependable!

LOVE all your other products except your Lightning Cables. And it looks like im not the only one who thinks so. So fix it!

Just bought my fifth in a year and a half

    • Written by from Oakwood Village

Great for Apple, not so great for the customer. No matter how gently I treat this cable I still only get about 5-6 months out of it before it's frayed at both ends and won't charge. The cables either need to be revamped or lowered in price because the $19 and tax isn't worth it. I'd love to say save your money and get a knockoff, but you risk damaging your phone with an unauthorized charger. Please fix this. I shouldn't have to buy a new charger... ever, unless I just want an extra!

Worst cable I've used in my life

    • Written by from Wantagh

I had an LG phone for 3 or 4 years prior to getting an iPhone. The cable I had with that phone lasted the entire time. Now that I have an iPhone, I've had to use these terrible cables that break ALL THE TIME. I must go through one every two months. These things are built so horribly, even the most gentle, responsible owners will break them. Horrible. And it's a shame that there's no way to avoid it. I have never encountered a good lightning cable, Apple brand or not. I wish they would make these better.

Not worth to keep buing over and over.

I've had a lot of iPhones over the years and I never had a problem. Before iPhones, I had iPods, again no issues with the cables. With my iPhone 5, and the lightning cable, it went ok till just about a year after purchase, I took notice one day the cord was being touchy, moved the phone it would make an unplugged and plugged in sound. I set it down to to charge while driving. The cable melted and caught on fire in my ambulance while driving. I took it to the Apple Store, they said "it's user damage". There are A LOT of reports of these cords being bad, but they didn't want to hear it. I contacted Apple Corporate and finally got a replacement cord. This past Christmas I got an iPad mini with retina display. The cord is never bent, and stays in the same place. Last night, sure enough the cable doesn't want to work.

I think I'll buy another brand name lightning cable because this is ridiculous.

    way too short

    • Written by from Norman

Apple claims to create human centered designs but they continue to offer ridiculously short charger cables, that may work while you set aside the device while you charge it, but will not work if you want to work on the device while you are charging it. Apple, where is the human center in this design? Offer charging cables that are 6 feet or 9 feet long.

3 cables, going to be 4 soon in just over a year.

Great product! Just the absolute best if you love dumping money on subpar cables.

I will be looking at alternatives when my contract is up.

I know this item is a frequently used item and is susceptible to wear and tear however this is now the 3rd cable I have had to replace in less that 12 months. Come on Apple, Use some of your innovation and "amazing" design and make the cable more durable.

    Expensive product with no quality.

    • Written by from Germantown

Within a year, i have gone through 2 wall chargers and three cords for my iPone5.
This is very disappointing, since these parts are very expensive. Do they even tested their products for a while before introduce them to the public?
There is no excuse what so ever for Apple to make such inferior products. This is showing me that Apple no longer cares for the quality of their products.
I am now purchasing Galaxy s5 and forget apple products forever.

This cable is terrible for the price. I'm careful and this is still my fourth cable in a year. Apple really needs to step up its game, bad enough the phone is four-five hundred I don't need to spend another hundred on cables to charge. Should be unlimited replacements for the duration of the phone.

    Cords breaking

    • Written by from Temple

I went and bought 5 new cables for my iPad and 2 iPhone 5s. It has been 3 months and only one cable of that group still works. It is so frustrating. If I had bought a knock off brand I would understand but I bought these from Apple. This is a major problem to me.

The 30-pin connector end of the cord is frayed and metal/wire is exposed. Almost all of my friends who have the 5 have had the same problem. Ridiculous.

i have 6 cords in a drawer and NONE of them work! I currently have 4 apple devices at my house and the only way to charge any of them is on a docking station. I am seriously considering going back to the a house of Droids because I refuse to spend anymore money on a cable that is sure to fail!

    Just awful!! :-(

    Usb to Lightning cable breaking

    • Written by from kilkenny

I'm surprised to be honest that given years of using apple products the I have to keep buying new cables for my 5s phone. I thought apple were above all that and their products used the latest and best design features. This usb to lightning cable is worst charging cable I have ever used on any item. Apple you need to go back to the old one or make one that lasts. I have gone through 3 in the past 9 months with just normal home charging.

    Lightning Wire

    • Written by from brooklyn

I don't think I've ever written a review on anything before, but this cable angered me off enough to get me to start. Seriously? I have been using apple products ever since the G3 (or whatever it was called) came out. I have never experienced anything like this. There is only a limit to the amount of times I'm willing to buy the same charger with its redicilous one month expiration date before I just have to get a different phone.
