Not worth to keep buing over and over.

    • Written by from Akron

I've had a lot of iPhones over the years and I never had a problem. Before iPhones, I had iPods, again no issues with the cables. With my iPhone 5, and the lightning cable, it went ok till just about a year after purchase, I took notice one day the cord was being touchy, moved the phone it would make an unplugged and plugged in sound. I set it down to to charge while driving. The cable melted and caught on fire in my ambulance while driving. I took it to the Apple Store, they said "it's user damage". There are A LOT of reports of these cords being bad, but they didn't want to hear it. I contacted Apple Corporate and finally got a replacement cord. This past Christmas I got an iPad mini with retina display. The cord is never bent, and stays in the same place. Last night, sure enough the cable doesn't want to work.

I think I'll buy another brand name lightning cable because this is ridiculous.

    way too short

    • Written by from Norman

Apple claims to create human centered designs but they continue to offer ridiculously short charger cables, that may work while you set aside the device while you charge it, but will not work if you want to work on the device while you are charging it. Apple, where is the human center in this design? Offer charging cables that are 6 feet or 9 feet long.

    Garbage.

3 cables, going to be 4 soon in just over a year.

Great product! Just the absolute best if you love dumping money on subpar cables.

I will be looking at alternatives when my contract is up.

Poor Quality - If I could have I would have rated it no stars.

I know this item is a frequently used item and is susceptible to wear and tear however this is now the 3rd cable I have had to replace in less that 12 months. Come on Apple, Use some of your innovation and "amazing" design and make the cable more durable.

    Expensive product with no quality.

    • Written by from Germantown

Within a year, i have gone through 2 wall chargers and three cords for my iPone5.
This is very disappointing, since these parts are very expensive. Do they even tested their products for a while before introduce them to the public?
There is no excuse what so ever for Apple to make such inferior products. This is showing me that Apple no longer cares for the quality of their products.
I am now purchasing Galaxy s5 and forget apple products forever.

This cable is terrible for the price. I'm careful and this is still my fourth cable in a year. Apple really needs to step up its game, bad enough the phone is four-five hundred I don't need to spend another hundred on cables to charge. Should be unlimited replacements for the duration of the phone.

I've had the original cable that I got with my iPhone 5, and I've never had any issues with it. I like that I can plug it in without there being a 'right' way.

    Cords breaking

    • Written by from Temple

I went and bought 5 new cables for my iPad and 2 iPhone 5s. It has been 3 months and only one cable of that group still works. It is so frustrating. If I had bought a knock off brand I would understand but I bought these from Apple. This is a major problem to me.

Broken, just like most people's I know

    • Written by from Chicago

The 30-pin connector end of the cord is frayed and metal/wire is exposed. Almost all of my friends who have the 5 have had the same problem. Ridiculous.

i have 6 cords in a drawer and NONE of them work! I currently have 4 apple devices at my house and the only way to charge any of them is on a docking station. I am seriously considering going back to the a house of Droids because I refuse to spend anymore money on a cable that is sure to fail!

    Just awful!! :-(

    Usb to Lightning cable breaking

    • Written by from kilkenny

I'm surprised to be honest that given years of using apple products the I have to keep buying new cables for my 5s phone. I thought apple were above all that and their products used the latest and best design features. This usb to lightning cable is worst charging cable I have ever used on any item. Apple you need to go back to the old one or make one that lasts. I have gone through 3 in the past 9 months with just normal home charging.

    Lightning Wire

    • Written by from brooklyn

I don't think I've ever written a review on anything before, but this cable angered me off enough to get me to start. Seriously? I have been using apple products ever since the G3 (or whatever it was called) came out. I have never experienced anything like this. There is only a limit to the amount of times I'm willing to buy the same charger with its redicilous one month expiration date before I just have to get a different phone.

    It Breaks Quickly

I bought my iPhone last December. The charger works very well and I expected it will prosper a year or more, but it didn't. It suddenly broke today and there's no reason why. I hope apple improves their charger quality.

    Terrible Cable

Awful cable. I've fried three of them in 6 months. Why? I shouldn't have to spend gratuitous amounts of money to charge my phone. Offer replacement cables, you're the ones who screwed up.

    cables continue to break

    • Written by from Richardson

I am so tired of having to buy new lightning cables every few months. We have multiple iPhone 5s in our house and the cables seem to become weak right below the area where the cable is connected to the lightning connection. The white shielding on the outside is not damaged, but it's obvious when you jiggle the cable that the problem is in that area, due I guess, to stress on the cable from normal use. At $20 a pop, just for the cable, I'm sick of constantly having to buy them. Conversely, all my old 30 pin cables still work. All of them. And I have acquired at least 8 or 9 over the years. Build a better cable with more reinforcement below the connector and better protection of all that super specialized circuitry. Please. It is ridiculous for a cable to be this delicate for a MOBILE device.

    Horrible

I have bought two charging cables within the last year and both have shorter out. It seems cheaper to buy aftermarket chargers if you have to spend $30 each time you need to charge your devices. Very poor design flaw.

    Quits Working

    • Written by from Campbellford

I can say that the charger is a decent length, and works extremely well. It chargers both my iPhone 5s, and iPad Mini quickly.
However, recently it has broken. And it isn't the first time. It will charge, and then stop charging and continue to do so, which makes charging my devices a long process. But now, it isn't charging either of my devices at all.
It happened to me in February, and has happened once again. It's extremely infuriating and frustrating.
I treat my chargers and devices very well, and even hang my chargers from a hook after use. I don't let my pets touch them either. So as to how the charger breaks, I'm unsure but I can say I don't believe I'm at fault.
I really expect more from such a world renowned technology company.

    USB Cables Terrible

    • Written by from Grasonville

Come on Apple, you build the best smart phone there is and then produce, market and sell the worst cables for use with it. Every 4 to 6 months I have to order new cables because the others have broken off right at the end that fits into the iPhone. Also, with the advent of the iPhone 5, I have to only buy your cables. Please develop a good, rugged USB cable in different lengths for use with your fantastic iPhone.
