    Apple should give customers 5 cables - they only last a month

    Purchased iPod 5 for my daughter a year ago and we have already spent over $100 on cables. The original one broke after two months. They are just cheap and can't take any practical wear. Purchase some knock off cables which was a total mistake. Then purchased some certified cables which were better but still only lasted two months.

    Apple - you really need to improve the quality go this cable

    Would give zero stars if I could

    Wish Zero Stars Was an Option

    The horrible design of this charger that FORCES you to buy a new one every few months (if not less) is the reason I am switching to the Galaxy. Was always a loyal customer to Apple until I had to replace my SEVENTH charger. I have even made sure to take care of my charger the way they told me at the Genius Bar after the 5th one broke. Still stops charging, Only one more month until I can upgrade!

    Garbage

    Broke after 7 months of light use. A cable should last the life of the product and then some. Imagine having to buy new HDMI cables for your TV 2x a year. Unacceptable. If they make beats headphones lightning connector only I am selling all my APPL stock. Your making customers mad Apple.

    Poor Design

    I love my Apple products however, Since upgrading to the iphone 5 I have been disapointed due to the fact that I have had to replace my lightening cable countless times in the year and a half that I've had the phone! the charger seems to just stop charging my phone The cable is so flimsy and cheap, that combined with the short battery life of the phone is causing me to conside ditching the iPhone and switching over to something different.

    If I could give this cable 0 stars I would.

    The tubing on the cable over a period of time turns yellow, warps and starts to fray, exposing wires.

    Total Disappointment

    I also don't typically write reviews but this is pretty pathetic. I always defend Apple and their high quality products, so having a cable of such low quality and standards is an embarrassment to both Apple and the consumer. I'm waiting for the I6; desperately holding on to the I5 and pretty much having to keep it plugged in at all times (this is without FB or other draining apps) it's annoying to watch this cable fall apart so quickly. I don't think even the cheaper manufacturers could produce a product of this low quality. This is almost home made, but sold at premium prices. It's all in the details Apple; if this is a reflection of where the company is headed; the iPhone 6 may be my last Apple purchase.

    Poor quality

    I love all of my Apple products (iPod 3,4,and 5, iPad, and 2 iPhone 4s) but have been extremely disappointed in the USB cable. The rubber covering tends to wear very easily and the connections diminishes. I have had to replace all my USB cables at least twice for all of my products. I originally posted in the Apple Support Communities and I was verbally abused by 3 persons whom say they've never experienced this and I was a careless user. Although I know that I don't abuse my USB cables, I'm reassured that I was not the only one experiencing this same problem. Apple please find a better fix to this situation. Consumers purchase your products with money they've earned and it's not fair to have to continue purchasing USB cables just to utilize their products.

    Poor quality

    I never write reviews and took the time to write this one just to warn others of the shoddy materials this is made of. I do not have children or animals and this cable does not get abnormal wear or tear to excuse the quick deconstruction it is experiencing. If I could rate half a star I would.

    Too weak

    I'm now on my third cable. The last one broke within 6 months. I took it back with the receipt, and it was replaced but I was told the chargers are not designed to be used whilst using my phone. Well, given the hopeless battery life of the iPhone 5 this seems ridiculous. Please design a charger that is more reliable and appropriate to the needs of the user. If my battery runs out at least every day it will have to use my phone while it is charging. Take this into account an alter the design please! Not cheap either!

    Breaks after a short while!

    I'd to buy a new lightning cable every second month because it breaks after a while. I've kept it safe and everything but that doesn't help anyways in the long run. I liked the Iphone 4 cable much better - it's not as smooth but it doesn't burn up as much as the Iphone 5 lightning charger!

    THE ABSOLUTE WORST

    I LOVE Apple products and swear by them! I have had an iPhone since the very first one came out; however since I upgraded to the 5 I have been unbelievably miserable due to the fact that I have had to replace my lightening cable OVER 10 times in the year and a half that I've had the phone! Either the charger just stops charging my phone, or I have to position it in a certain way, or the wire is so flimsy and cheap it just breaks at the point where you connect the charger to the phone. I am becoming SO frustrated with Apple that I am considering ditching the iPhone and getting myself an Android or something.

    Terrible quality

    As an avid apple user I have been very disappointed with this cable. I like the concept and the ease of plugging it in, however it needs to last 2 years. I have had to buy two already ( within 1.5 yrs) because they have both wore thin at the tip and stopped charging. Very annoying for apple products-I expect to get much better quality than this. Again, it just needs to be reconstructed with a thicker cord that doesn't get split as easily. It's very fixable but they need to do this because it is not consistent with apple quality products and a very unreliable product.

    I am tired of having to constantly having to purchase chargers. Month after month...this charger continues to fail on me! I have purchased 3 chargers in 3 months. Im really over it at this point. This is a horrible product.

    Overpiced and brittle

    The Lightning cable that came with my iPod Touch 5 was just the right length for me but failed quickly. A new cable is expensive and MFi cables aren't much cheaper. Knockoff cable fail quickly. My Android phone, on the other hand, has never needed a cable replacement and will happily take a knockoff cable with no problems. I don't care about reversible cables if they cost 3x more and break 3x faster!

    Worst cable ever but great customer service!

    These lightning cables are honestly the worst quality cables ever. The end of the wire that attaches to the lightning tip gets worn out after only 2-3 months use. The cables just simply stop working! I have been through, no lie, around 10. Thankfully, Apple customer service is top notch and has replaced mine every time they have failed. I actually got 2 replaced today, hence my review. I read online a possible "fix" that I tried as soon as I got back to work after leaving the Apple Store. Get a pen that clicks (has a spring in it), take the tiny spring out and wrap it around the end of the cable. Make sure to wrap it around the raised half inch plastic connector too so the spring won't move. The spring prevents the cable from bending in the critical spot that always ends up failing. It looks kind of ghetto but who cares if it keeps me from having to replace my cable in 2 months. Hope this helps others! If i can remember, I'll update this post in a few months and let you know how it is holding up.

    i have had my iPod 5 for less then 2 years and I've gone through at least 3 charging cables. my first iPod which many know it as the classic has never broke. and my STANDARD USB CABLES are more durable and i don't have to spend 30 dollars every time i need a new cable. apple please when you guys release the new iPod just go back to the standard USB cable they are more reliable and cheaper to buy .

    10 Months - Still GREAT!

    I have had two lightning cables (one that came with the iPhone, one that i purchased) back in October 2013. They both still work great and they haven't frayed at all or twisted (like the older iPhone cables have for the 4S and older models). I practically keep my phone charged at home and work all day and all night. However, it should be noted that I have an iPhone 5S, and maybe the syncing is better with this newer model.

    My cable was working fine and then it just stopped working unless I help it in a specific position. I haven't even had the cable for a year. It lasted for another week after that and then it completely died. The cable fell apart. Seriously Apple? What happened to quality control and durability...
