    Pretty Great

    • Written by from Billings

I don''t understand all these fools who are giving this cable one star. As long as you don't twist the connector to shreds, these are pretty durable. And you really can't beat a reversible design. I also love how lightning can provide enough power to charge my Phone and my Pad, unlike my roommate's Android devices with micro-USB.

Don't read the one star reviews. This cable is excellent.

    What is everyones problem?

    • Written by from Basalt

Great new design. I have 8 cables working different product at different locations and all work fine with no issues. I don't understand the durability issues. Apple has always been the best made product. Sometimes that means expensive, but it is worth it!

    Works great if you're gentle

Hello, I have no issues with this cable. You must insert and pull out the cable on the phone end using the plastic part. Never pull or push on the wire itself. I believe that's how people are breaking them. Had mine 2 years and it still looks and works like new.

I have had my cable that came with my iPhone 5s since December. It has worked fine and has had no problems. If everyone would take care of their cables like they take care of their phones I don't think there would be problems.

    Different Lengths

    • Written by from Garden City

I noticed some reviewers complaining about the cord being too short and wanting one 5 or 6 feet long. Cant they see it comes in .5 meters, 1 m, or 2m? (2 meters being over 6 feet long!). I LOVE THIS OPTION! I wish every manufacturer made this option available.

    Great cable, when used right

    • Written by from London

Had a few problems with my first one as I was a bit rough with it, but went into my local Apple Store and got it replaced under my warranty. The employee in store told me about cable management and recommended me to google more good cable management practices and it's helped ton. Went into the store super angry and came out feeling stupid, I definitely don't roll it up and toss it around anymore.

    Beware of pocket lint

    • Written by from Plainfield

After less than two years with my iPhone5 I was about to buy a third lightning cable. Why, because it was no longer charging my phone. I checked in with one of the geniuses at the Apple store and explained that up until recently I had to wiggle the cable in order to get it positioned properly in for it to charge. The SOLUTION SHE APPLIED WAS TO REMOVE THE LINT FROM THE IPHONE LIGHTNING CONNECTOR. PROBLEM SOLVED. NO NEW CABLE NEEDED. Genius Suggestion, place phone in pocket with connector at the top.

    Why all the negative reviews?

I have two of these cables, have had them for about 6 months each, no issues whatsoever. They charge my iphone and iPad mini. They work.

    Great Cable

    • Written by from Granger

Honestly, I don't know what it is with all the negativity about this product. The lighting works fine for me, been charging my iPad, iPod, iPhone without any problems. The cable is much smaller than the 30 pin connector, and I like how the lighting cable can be plugged in no matter what side your using vs the 30 pin which only can be plugged in one way (very annoying when you plug it in wrong.)

What are you people doing to your cables???

    • Written by from Holly Springs

I'm at a loss to understand how so many people complain about going through 2-3 or even more charging/data cables in a year's time. I have two "i" devices, have left one cable in my car and the other pulls double duty in the house. The one in the house has to stand up to several plugs/unplugs per day and the one in the car deals with frequent winding and unwinding. Neither has given me any trouble for over a year. And if they had failed within a year as many people's reviews state, I would have simply asked Apple to replace it.

I honestly don't know why people are rating it so bad these cable works great and its really long if you want a longer cable just pay the $10 extra and you will get the longer one don't be a cheap person Over all these cable charges really fast, its really long and your $20 are really well spend I normally don't rate any items but I thought it was so unfair that everyone is giving such a bad rating just because they think its short its not a Short cable its a little longer than the original charger that came when you purchased your iPhone and as I said before it works but if you are one of those persons that wants a longer cable then pay the extra $10

    Drastic Improvement

    • Written by from Sacramento

I have several of these cables now. The only thing I don't like is how inflexible the new environmentally friendly wire is (it wants to spring back to being straight instead of saying coiled where I want it). The connector itself is fantastic and is a huge improvement over the previous cable. I hope Apple will support USB 3 transfer speeds over Lightning cables soon.

    • Written by from Bathelemont

Seriously people, why so many bad ratings?

It reversible, charge way faster than the previous one, and works perfectly.
Yes it's not a standard. But Apple is not using mini-USB just because their plug is way better. So 5 stars it is.

    Works Well So Far

    • Written by from Calgary

I'm not sure why so many people are having problems with these cords. I picked up a second one to carry with me (leave the original at home) and have not had any issues with them whatsoever in the 1 year I've had them. I am fairly gentle with them, but I have not noticed any fraying or excessive wear after plugging and unplugging them several times a day.

I will agree that they are expensive, but so far they are holding up well.

    Best adapter in existence

    • Written by from Springfield

I've used the Apple 30-pin adapter for many years. I've also used other USB formats (micro A, micro B) etc. The Lightning cable is far superior to any of those designs, for several reasons:
    * It is compact.
    * It is reversible.
    * If your Apple device is plugged in, you can lift the device by the cord, due to the way the lightning cable "snaps" into the device.
    * Because of the beveled angles of the charger, you don't have to plug the cable directly into the iPhone/iPad—you can start by plugging it in at an angle and it will straighten out as you push it in.

While it was unfortunate to have to replace all of my 30-pin adapters when Apple moved to Lightning, it was well worth it.

No issues on 3 cables for a year.

    • Written by from Plymouth

I coil 1 up 2-3 times a day while putting it in and taking it out of my backpack and its holding up great.
I have another on my computer at work that stays on the desk, also holding up great.
I have a third next to my bed and thats also had no issues.
All three have been in daily use since last year.

This connector is extremely simple to use over the old one. I'm already taking it's simplicity for granted. Plugging in my headphones with a regular micro-USB connector feels like a hassle now.

Great connector. It's definitely a move forward.
