    Designed By APPLE, or China?

    • Written by from norristown

Apple, how many reviews does it take for you to change your design/supplier? The cable is $20! Would it be that much harder to add a few dollars into the actual quality of the cable after the chip? Even if it was $25, but heavy duty and lasted, it would be worth it. This needs to be fixed before the 6 is released. Fix it!

    Poor Quality

    • Written by from Donna

I've bought so many cables for my sister and I that I've lost count. We go through them about once every couple of months. They bend after constant use (I charge once or twice a day) and just stop charging. It's starting to feel like it's the most expensive part about owning an iphone. Apple needs to do something about it before it starts losing customers.

And the Apple Round Puck Mouse Awad goes to.....

    • Written by from LONDON

Oh dear, oh dear. This is the Worst product Apple have forced upon us for years and as I've been an Apple user since the Apple II Europlus (look it up) . The cable is flimsy (I'm on to my third in 7 months ) , unreliable and a rip off. What on earth were they thinking? Garbage. No stars at all.

    3 Cables on one year

    • Written by from México

Like everyone else here, Apple needs to address the poor quality of its Lightning cable. I mean i have an iPad mini, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and their 3 lightning cables got screwd. I really can´t keep buying lightning cables for al my devices which I use a lot. Apple DO something!

    Broken cord

    • Written by from Mandan

After reading reviews of the lightning cable, I realize that I'm lucky that this lasted me about six months. I had no problem with it up until today when it just stopped working. It looks fine, but won't charge. I read that they can be replaced at the apple store if it's still under warranty, but the nearest apple store to me is four hours away. I'm really not enthused with having to spend 19$ on a new cord, but since I need one ASAP that's my only option. Apple really needs to fix these cables; having to buy a new one every few months is ridiculous!

2 out of 4 are dead

    • Written by from Beverly

Have 4 of these that are less than or barely a year old, and 2 of them are completely dead. 2 came with iphones, 2 I bought separately at $30 a pop. I think 1200+ people on here rating a product 1 star, means you have a problem, Apple.

    No Stars

How sad to have such a great product as the iPhone 5 on one side and then this piece of junk that is the lightning charging cable on the other. The one that came with my iPhone didn't last us 6 months and you just can't rely on the cheaper ones, those only last 2-4 weeks. I've gone through 6 already and honestly it is getting ridiculous now. Today my charger started giving me problems, not charging if the connector is at certain angles, or saying the charger is not supported and not charging at all. Disappointed, even more in the lack of interest Apple is showing while not addressing this.

    Worst Apple product EVER!

    • Written by from Marília

This is far the worst Apple product I've ever had. Came with my iPhone 5 that I've bought in June 2013, and the cable has been gone. Unique engineering, in the most negative way, the cable is susceptible to corrosion in absurd ways. Even living in the countryside, far away from the sea, river or lake, my cable had rusty metal contacts fisrt, and then the cable sheath broke few days later.

I took it to Apple Care and I was told that the product would not be repaired or exchanged, because it was my (misuse) blame. Put my tail between my legs and I left the store without the courage to pay almost 40 dollars (here in Brazil) in a new model with the same specifications of mine, and very, very disappointed. How can I pay 40 dollars for something with no modifications and which seems to have the same problems in a near future?

I went online to see if the problem was just me. Just type in any search engine on the web to come a barrage of links to sites telling the truth about this product and its poor construction.

I'm disappointed in Apple quality, also liability and, of course, trust.

This is my third one and lasted the shortest. What is going on Apple? You need to have better quality control. And exchange for customer when it breaks.

    Unexpectedly poor quality

    • Written by from Saint Paul

Like pretty much everyone else writing these reviews, I'm really disappointed that the quality of the lightning to USB cable for the iPhone 5 is terrible - I'm on my third in about 6 months, with normal usage and care. One broke down during a trip, so I was unable to use it to contact my family to let them know about changes in the schedule. These aren't inexpensive, but I have always thought you get what you pay for from Apple: not in this case. I'm also annoyed that these complaints have been coming in for a while and it's not clear that Apple has done anything about it - is anyone reading these reviews? If so, you should know that most users don't take the time to find the feedback page and write a review (I for one have never done this before), so I bet many people have had at least one cable fail but haven't reported their displeasure.

    • Written by from leicester

I have bought in the last year a IMac ,iPod ,iPad air, and iPhone 5s .. I'm happy with them... But the charge cable from my iPhone and iPad Air .. Does not work anymore!!! You cannot use third party cable!!! So I have to buy apple lightning cable from apple for 8.99 each!!!! I bought one in January which is already playing up!! This is unacceptable !!! Considering the cost of the products!!!
Apple needs to address this problem ASAP!!
I use these cable a lot due to power drain of my devices , which I use a lot.. So not happy that these cables are not up to the job!!!

    Breaks like a potato chip

    • Written by from Waldorf

The iPhone 5 30-pin chargers DO NOT hold up to everyday use. They break like waves on a beach. I haven't even had my iPhone 5 for 8 months yet, and it is already broken completely, and the cords aren't even exposed. On the outside it looks perfectly fine, but it will not charge at ALL. I had my iPhone 4 for a year and a half and the charger stayed perfectly fine-- and it still works today. Apple needs to find a way to fix this, because we spend way too much money on these products for them to break this easily. I refuse to pay $19 for a replacement cord, when the one that i currently have should have lasted me the entire time I had this phone. I will find somewhere else to buy one from.

Poor quality cable that kinks, frays, and deteriorates easily

    • Written by from Boston

I love all my Apple products, but this lightning to USB charger cable is an inferior quality cable and needs to be greatly improved. Taking the short iPhone battery life into consideration, these charger cables require frequent use. The thin white plastic insulation on my Apple lightning to USB cable deteriorated at the connection end within 14 months and is now rendered useless. (Not to mention, a safety hazard). I brought the cable to the Genius Bar in my city for repair but was swiftly told it had to be replaced and because it is out of the warranty period, would cost me $19. A quick Google search into this problem has indicated that this issue is common amongst Apple iPhone users. For $19, this cable should be designed to be much stronger and come with a 2 year warranty. My suggestion to Apple is to collect feedback from customers and improve this cable for the next generation iPhone release and offer a 2 year warranty. Until then, I recommend finding an Apple Certified charger cable from another approved vendor that lasts longer and costs less.

    Worst. Cable. Ever!

    • Written by from little elm

In the time I've had my iphone 5 I've had to swap out cords AT LEAST 4-5 times. This is absolutely ridiculous! I've also had to swap out my iphone 5 3 times. I've been loyal to apple in their phones for the first several years. LOVED my 3GS. If I didn't have so much invested in apple already inbetween iTunes music, movies and tv shows I'd be heading to buy the new windows phone.
