    It's just awful

    The lightning cable is the worst piece of technology I've ever dealt with. Seriously, this fragile cable is so bad I can't even argue how other brands' products are lightyears away from Apple just based on functionality. Ok, I get the idea of the cable being versatile and all that but omg. SJ must be turning in his grave with the lack of customer care this cable represents. I'm not the worst handler, I've never broke any cable of any other brand before. And I had a lot of phones in the last 11 years. I must have switched phones at least 14 times and it's the latest (which was supposed to be better) that was the only which I've ever had any problem with. I could buy a cheap phone with the money I spent on this chargers, seriously. This is not funny. It makes me ignore any other features Apple products have to provide, I just want out of this product just because of the hassle. I hate to say it but Apple's lightning USB cable is awful and Apple's products are awful by association.

    Apple thinks giving a sturdy charger is a issue of stylish prestige?? They think its very fancy to provide a delicate wired charger. Actually its so irritating and annoying that its worn out very frequently and have to replace it. If they are not going to address thia and deliver a good charger for people who aleeady own it am goin to switch from apple to android. I have been with apple for 6 years but this cheap thing annoys. I will also campaign my friends not to buy this one orally as well as in socia media

    Dear Apple,
    Years ago when I purchased my very first Mac computer I fell in love! Since then we have had a great relationship, filled with continued love renewed every few years or so with a new necessity. My old Mac is now used for my kids, playing some old computer games and for typing practice. At 18 years old, it's a dinosaur, but it WORKS! My MacBook also works still although it needs to be plugged in now as the battery cannot hold a charge anymore. My iMac also still works, now 11 years old...has trouble with online stuff though as its a bit too outdated. My iPad2 is going strong, iPhone 3g just recently gave up, but that was after 5 years, dropped into the lake fishing (like 3 minutes completely submerged, no cover, cracked screen...), and countless spills. Now I have my iPhone 5S, gold:) I love it! What I don't like, it that it's cheaper quality than my old 3G, the cords have broken 5 times now, and the battery lasts for only half a day. It's 3 months old. I am finding myself drawn over the line to Samsung, as I have had to borrow my husbands Galaxy more than a few times, because my beloved failed me and died. I love you Apple, but my love is not unconditional. Your products are always industry leaders, driving the rest, why are you starting to fail me? Why begin making subpar products, when you have had only the BEST up until now? I have been using you since I was 8 years old, I am 36 now. Don't make me suffer through windows! Please, get back to the basics, quality, durability, functionality, superiority! Apple used to be the best, I recomended you for the last 20 years, helped facilitate the purchase of 500 iPads at my children's school, and use you exclusively at home. But as my newer products Appletv, ipad, and iPhones continue to have issues like battery durability, (iPhone4 was particularly awful) cables breaking constantly, and overall problematic systems requiring factory resets, AppleCare visits, and replacements I am becoming a little bitter. After my barely 2 year old iPhone 4 died due to faulty charging port, I put my faith in Apple and bought the 5s, now we are once again having problems. Not good! I may walk away after this, into the android world. I know they lag but at least they stay on, the Chargers don't break, and they are not completly outdated and locked out of App Store after 2 years. Apple this is a desperate plea, please get your s**t together! Don't force me to leave you!

    Not a Long-Lasting Product

    I an very disappointed and discouraged with Apple's cables, especially the Lightning to USB Cable. I have been using them for a long time and have spent hundreds of dollars replacing them after a couple of months-and with normal use. I don't even take them anywhere and am quite careful with them. They are cheaply made; the plug-in ends either burn out or twist and break no matter how carefully one treats them, and they are expensive considering the short time they last. Apple wants the owners of their devices to also use their accessories but continually change them and never improve on the quality. T'aint fair fellas. Cheating your users isn't good business.

    I've been through two of these in less than a year with my iPhone 5. Normal use—the thing doesn't even leave my desk. What's up with this thing? Apple should fix and send all iPhone owners a new one for free. Terrible. Would give zero stars if I could.

    I have only had my Iphone for 4 months and the charger no longer works. If you look at it, it looks brand new. When you plug it in... nothing... and now I have to order a new one. Hopefully this one lasts longer.

    Before I begin whining, I'd just like to point out that I didn't even want to rate this cable 1 star but I had to in order to post this review, which is a joke, just like this cable.

    I am SO disappointed in Apple's ability to create a more sturdy and better quality phone charger. I've had my phone for 4 months (4 months!!!) and I've already had to replace the charger. You'd think with all of the money that Apple has made, they'd invest a little more in this product and create a more reliable charger, to show a bit of appreciation for their customers. I am annoyed beyond words. I hate when companies take shortcuts with important products, such as a charger to keep the phone working. I want to cut the cable of my chargers and mail them to Apple's headquarters. Like, seriously, this is a slap in the face. " That's right guys! Just keep buying our $30 chargers if you want to charge your phone. " Unfreakingbelievable.

    Apple, why don't you stop bringing out new (and redundant) products everyday and spend more time creating a new and improved "Lightning to USB Cable".....I don't want to hear about another new Apple product until you Ifolks get this cable together. This cable needs to be longer and sturdier. I've had way cheaper phones and never had to replace the charger. This is ridiculous.

    unacceptably poor quality

    Cord to wife's 4 month old 6 Plus has already stopped working. It was gently used about every other day so the problem isn't due to wear and tear. Looking at all the recent reviews, Apple has some serious quality control issues with this cord or the design wasn't properly thought through.

    Apple cables are well designed for normal use. I'm baffled as to why so many people have trouble with cables falling apart. I'm been using apple cables for close to ten years and I have not once had one fail. I still have my original 30 pin cable that I got with my first iPod, it still works with my iPad2.

    The new Lightning connector is a huge improvement over the 30 pin connector. Use your cable wisely (pull on the connector, not the cable) and you won't have any trouble with it. I'll only buy Apple cables, they last years with normal daily use.

    ~ apple needss too makee the chargers stronger . i have had 3 iPhones going on 4 and i have been through all of the apple chargers . Tge material isn't strong enough im a teenager so a throw it down and carry it around alot . Apple needs to change

    I'm on my second cord in less than three months after buying my iPhone 6 Plus. I keep encountering the same problem: the cord bunches up at the end from overheating and exposes the cords underneath and it stops working. It's already time for a third cord after the second only lasted for five weeks.

    I'm getting a new phone in two weeks and I am really debating on if it will be worth my sanity to get an iPhone 6 because of the lightning charger. I've had my iPhone 5 for 2 1/2 years and I've gone through 4 official Apple brand lightning chargers and countless cheap chargers bought online. It is beyond ridiculously how easily these chargers break. I can go 3-4 months with a charger before it just stops charging my phone. And it's not like the cheap "non-official" chargers are any better. Bought one literally a month ago and it stopped working just the other day. It is very frustrating to the stupid notice that says "this accessory is not compatible." Apple needs to do something about these chargers. It makes no sense to have to pay $20 every couple of months for a new charger. I guess it's time to switch phone brands until Apple can release a better quality product.

    Zero Stars if i could

    These cables break down over time (<2 years). We have 3 of these lightning cables at home used between 2 iPhone 5s, and all 3 cables have now damaged wires at the end that connects to the phone. Two remain at our night stands for overnight charging, while the 3rd stays in the car for listening to music.

    I'm starting to order if there is 1500 paid Samsung "fake posters" out there.

    In our house we have an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 2 iPad Minis, and an iPad Air 2 all bought back in the fall when they released the new products. He cords that came with our devices all still work fine, wih no visible signs of damage. Also in both my wife and my car we have dual use chargers with two lighting cables from when we had our iPhone 5s, those cables are two years old and they work just fine as well.

    Apple's Worst Product

    I've gone through 2 of these in 1 year while owning an iphone 5. Apple replaced this cable once, which was free under warranty, but the 2nd one is nearing uselessness. Non-apple cables/chargers stop working after only a few months too. It's really a major pain-point in the mobile Apple universe.

    I purchased a spare "Apple Original" lightening cord, once out of the box it has never been moved from the same outlet nor ever crimped or bunched up. I now get a "This accesory may not be supported" message and the phone will not charge. I have tried numerous outlets and nothing seems to work. Apple PLEASE fix your product before someone starts a class action! At $20 a cord, I EXPECT it to last LONGER than 5 months! Love all my other Apple products except for this..
