    Multiple Failures

    • Written by from Scottsdale

I have now had several Apple (not aftermarket) Lightning to USB Cables fail. They all worked fine initially but, after several month of use began to fail intermittently and then with greater frequency. Cleaning the ends has not solved the problem.

    Terrible Quality

    • Written by from Mount Vernon

I have gone through 4 lightning cables and 1 MicroUSB to Lightning adapter. So the two that came with my iPhone and iPad, respectively, broke (just stopped working) and one of the two was torn and every time I plugged it in, a light when on inside the cable. After that I bought a certified aftermarket lightning, lasted about 2 months, then that one completely stopped working and I went and bought an original. That stopped working so I bought an adapter and returned it yesterday to get another original. I'm not even taking it out of the package until I get my iPod's, if I have to return it I'll just use my iPods cable which should arrive with my iPod in 5-6 days. Just to sum everything up, avoid losing the receipt and packaging of the cables.

    Lightning Breaks!

    • Written by from Lafayette

This cable breaks waaay too easily. I've never had a problem with the previous generation cables. I've gone through 3 cables already. They're overpriced pieces of junk. They should call this Lightning-gate.

    VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

    • Written by from San Diego

I've been through 8 lightning cables in the past year and the all broke the same exact way. There's no way in the world I can unplug this cable without damaging it. This design is very terrible, I have never twisted nor bent. But somehow the wires were ripped for the connector part, and the part that covered the wires connect just comes off. So once agian me saying, there is literally no way to unplug your device without damaging the plug. Please find a way to make it durable because this is very annoying and I'm very tired of buying a new charger every two months or so.

Garbage, 1 star is too much.

I bought my iPhone 5s the first of march, it's not even may yet and I have already had to buy an off brand replacement charger. I don't use my cord anywhere except on my nightstand next to my bed. I plug it in when I go to sleep and unplug it when I wake up. I don't bend or twist the cord in any direction and the cord has completely stopped working, will not charge my phone except for a second here and there unless I pinch the cord right at the base, and I don't know about you but I don't want to have to sit and hold my cord until my phone is completely charged. I still have several original cords from my first iPod, both iPhone 3's, as well as both my iPhone 4&4s. Every single one of them still work perfectly. I have had this one for barely 2 months and it has stopped working. It is complete and utter BS considering the price of a replacement cord from Apple. I have been a loyal apple customer since the iPod and I feel like I've been cheated with this new creation. They should have stuck with the old charger, or at least do a recall and redesign the charger for the new phones. I love my iPhone but if the reliability of this cord shows how apple is going to start doing things I am going to sell my phone and buy an android. Fix this apple, or you'll be losing a lot of very loyal and valued customers.

    Sincerely,
    A very unhappy customer

These cables literally fall apart after three months of use. Then you have to go spend $20 just to get a new one! If only apple could make their accessories as reliable as their phones.

    Absolute rubbish

    • Written by from Ellesmere Port

I have had my iPhone 5 for nearly a year now and I have had to buy I don't know how many replacement chargers, I have lost count. They work fine for a couple of weeks or months and then I get the message this cable is not supported, this is a really rubbish design and apple should have kept the old charger as I have never had a problem with that. Utterly disgusted and I think Apple should replace chargers free of charge.

Would give this piece of trash 0 stars if I could. WORST cable I've ever used in my life. Literally frays beyond repair every 4 months from normal usage. The length is an absolute farce as well, shame on you Apple. One lawsuit over useless chargers clearly wasn't enough.

These new cords are terrible! I haven't had one last more than about six months before the end with the lightning plug sparked and frayed :/ This wouldn't be so upsetting if I didn't still have the cord from my first iPod, which is about 10 years old, and still works perfectly. I do prefer the lightning connector, but the quality of the cords really needs to improve!

    Worst product made by Apple

    • Written by from Washington

I've been using Apple's products for many years, as far back as the first iPods in the 1990's (which still runs well). I've not had any reason to complain about the quality of Apple products until now. This Lightning Cable is absolutely the worst product made by Apple I've encountered. The cable that came with my iPhone has started to fail charging and is fraying from just basic everyday use. I've had to buy new ones. I'm concerned that the care and attention to quality that kept me a customer all these years is fading. Don't let it fade.

    Good Cables

    • Written by from ELMHURST

I have 3 of these cables and have used them between about 1 to 1.5 years, including the original that came with the iPhone 5 and subsequent ones that I bought. I use them at home and at work, and I also carry one in my bag that I use for ad-hoc charging in public places and in rental cars. I misplaced one recently and came to the site to purchase a replacement, and I am surprised to see all the poor reviews for the cable. I didn't encounter any of the issues described by other reviewers. My only gripe is that they are a little pricey but otherwise I am happy with the product.

I have had my iPhone 5 for just over a year and am already on my 3rd cable. I hardly travel with it and yet the wire always gets bent and then the cable stops working. My old cables for my iPods and iPhone 4 never had this problem and I am sick of spending $$$$ on a product that is poorly made.

Cable doesn't last long, beware to buyers!

    • Written by from Simi Valley

I've had my cable for just about four months now, and unless I hold the end (that connects to the phone) in a certain spot, my phone will not charge! After looking at multiple reviews, I know i'm not the only one with this problem. Please Apple fix this problem, or 3rd party cables will be bought by everyone. Apple should be issuing these for free considering the garbage quality.
