I was excited about the new charger, but WOW.

    • Written by from Bruce

Barely works. I'm going to try a new one to see if there's just a flub in my cable somewhere. Having a phone you can't charge reliably means I'll be switching to Droid if this continues. What an epic failure, Apple.

    This Cable is TERRIBLE

    • Written by from Northport

I have 3 iphone 5s in my house. So far I have probably gone through $200 worth of cables. There is no difference between Apple cords and imitations. They are all BAD. They only work for a couple of months or days and then break. The only thing I have that has consistently worked is the adapter cable, but for $29.99 that's a pretty ridiculous price. I am very disappointed in this product. At this moment I have 4 cables and only one works. It is wrapped with electrical tape because in addition to the obvious problems, the construction is so weak that unless you keep everything pin straight, the plastic around the wires wears away...

... whats up with the negative complaints

    • Written by from Martinez

The cable will go for years if you dont throw it around, step on it or otherwise harass the cable. I've had mine ever since the 5 came out, and its not even starting to show signs of fray or damage. Good job, Apple. :)

    Poor product from Apple

    • Written by from Nashua

These cables kink easily and break in short order. I'm not rough on them, and have not had any other cable ever break, from any manufacturer. These are defective and should be recalled, especially for the price charged

    It doesn't last.

    • Written by from Fredericton

I have been through so many of these cords in the past couple of years. The old cord that I had with my iPhone 4 was much more durable and lasted. I have had my iPhone 5 for a little over a year and have been through 4 cords.. this is getting pretty expensive and I think Apple needs to start backing their product. I can keep affording to purchase a new cord every couple of months. It's getting pretty ridiculous.

    Worst piece of #%€*

    • Written by from palm desert

3 feet is 2 feet to long or 3 feet to short. At home 3 doesn't let you sit more then a foot away from the wall. In the car it won't reach the back. This wouldn't be such a problem if this thing lasted as long as the phone. But nope The quality is absolutely abysmal if you use your cord more than once a day you going to need to buy a boat two of them to get you through one year. The cord where's out right at the very tip phrase the metal in the inside and periodically lights on fire I would give this zero if I could but I can't. Ps I've never had one problems with my USB micro that's 6 feet not one. Build a better cord.

    Iphone 5 chargers!!!!

    • Written by from Bellingham

I have probably spent 200.00 in chargers!! this is outrageous!! We have had our iphone 5's since about February or around there and have had to buy a ton of charges. There is nothing wrong with the cords, we don't yank on them or misuse them. When we go to plug in the lovely charger, it won't charge the phone. Just beeps off and on. Until they completely won't work, I have literally been able to hold them to the phone and sometimes bend the cord a bit and it will charge for us. This is not ok! I know the Iphone 4 chargers weren't this bad. I am writing because guess what, another one of my chargers have gone bad, and I got it less than a month ago! FIX this problem!!! This is not worth having this phone if I am spending 2 and 3 hundred dollars a year on chargers!

    Terrible

    • Written by from Brampton

21$ for USB cable so expensive.. In 1 year already bought 3rd..
    stops working after 2-3 months.
Not expected this from apple, After so many complains still not trying to improve quality.
Its better to use 5$ compatible duplicate cable.

    Plzz fix this issue.!!!!!!!!

    worst charger ever..!!

    • Written by from Phoenix

i have bought about 4-5 chargers from past one year just because it breaks at the ends And doesn't charge anymore. Was a big fan of apple products, now considering the quality of products I feel instead Of spending money on chargers and iPhones would have thought of other phones. It's just a waste of money spending on chargers.Don't ever buy this product.

    Connector Joints No Good

    • Written by from Binbrook

I am very gentle with ALL of my cables, but I keep going through these particular cables. The outer jacket splits by the Lightning connector fairly easily. I love the feel of the outer jacket (compared to the old 30-pin), but it simply isn't functional. That said, I do LOVE that Apple finally changed the connector to something much smaller. Kudos on that.

    Very Poor Design

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Ive had iPhones since 2007 with the first model. I did have to replace the usb cables after a few years but always did so with new phones. I've got 3 lightning cables, all of which breaking at the point where the cable meets the attachments (exposing wire). I brought them to an Apple Store (as suggested by a friend who had his replaced in a similar condition) and the "genius" told me they were broken and not covered under any warranty or anything. Needless to say, I spent $20 on another cable but from a T-Mobile store. The cables are much thicker and feel sturdier.

I'd imagine the same design used on the 30-pin cables is not practical for the thinner lightning cable and suggest apple address this issue.

I hate this cord and the monopoly of Apple

    • Written by from COLLIERVILLE

This cord is a piece of garbage. I have had my iPhone 5 for 2 years and gone through 4 of these cords because they always break. I am not rough with these cords but unfortunately they are made just like everything else from this generation, cheap and made to break.

    Not Even Worth one star

    • Written by from Bangor

Im furious with these iphone chargers yet again have to go spend $30 to buy a new one because they're cheapy made and don't allow my phone to charge. In less than a year I've had to buy two more chargers and this will be the third because apple can't make a cord that actually works. seriously considering switching to android or samsung just because of a charger. I should't be paying more for chargers a year than i do for data

    enough is enough

    • Written by from San Antonio

I had no problems with charging until Apple made all other after market cables obsolete and not supported or recognized. Since then I've owned at least 10 cables. How hard is it to make one heavy duty cable? It's not. Which tells me this has all been engineered to be cheap and easily broken. Glad I switched away from iPhone. Yes, just over the crapy cables!!

    Poor quality for sure

    • Written by from Muskegon

My daughter is constantly replacing her lighting cords. This is honestly a poor design on Apples part, which is pretty sad considering the company. She along with many others are continually throwing their money away and truthfully Apple should offer up so way to fix their "manufacture" defect and fix the port so that you DO NOT have to use a lightning cord and go back to what actually works.
Time to rethink this one Apple.
