    Quality cable

    • Written by from Sewaren

I have tested this cable extensively, and find it to be a significant improvement from the previous cable; which was also of excellent quality. Specifically, there are no issues with frayed wire or damaged insulation even under strenuous conditions, and no issues of reliability with either the lightning connector or the USB connector. I outright challenge the comments on here to be fictitious and outright defamation. In addition, apple does replace faulty cables under warranty, so there is at a minimum, clearly abundant ignorance of Apple's policies.

Bad cable broke after a few months

I bought this cable 2 of them in the last 4 months. The same problem. The cable fell apart inside between the connector from the 8 pin and the cable did not well protect from pulling and bending. My cable stop charging and now has to buy a new one. The inside ripped that can not be fixed. I have to buy a new one and cover the connection between the cable and the 8 pin head by myself to extended the protection while the cable is bending and pulling. This is to protect from inside cable pull apart from the 8 pin head. Very disappointed. Never happen with the old iphone model. I have all iphone model. This is getting very bad. Plus iphone 5 is not really impressive. Bad wifi connection!!!!

    CHEAP!

This cable is cheap. I had my IPhone 5 for 6 months and the cord stopped working. Best part? Apple doesn't replace these cables under warranty because it is considered damage to the device. How? I use my cable the same way I used my 30-pin and I never had any issue. They really need to fix this issue I can't spend 20 every 6 months

Jams easily in USB plugs where everything else works

The apple lightning cord gets jammed in USB sockets much more easily than other USB plugs. (I bought it directly from apple, I never abused it, and this problem started when the cord was new). If you compare them carefully, the size is slightly different from other USB plugs. I'm not sure why such an expensive cord would have such amateurish problems.

The new charger cord breaks too easily I am going on my 5 one since December. The old one lasted me about 3 years it is really frustrating having to always buy a new cord.

    Iphone5 Charger

I have an Iphone 5 and i must be on my 5th charger already. I find at the end where you plug your phone is bends so easily and then is not usable. I find the phone4 charger is much more sturdy and not as breakable. i have no other option then to use this charger or buy the adapter. i am not happy with apple on this product.

I've literally been through a half dozen of these since getting an iPod touch 5 and the newest iPod nano this past fall.

The lightening connector keeps getting...sort of corroded, I guess. Apparently there's a reason USB doesn't expose the physical connection on the outside. My USB cables by contrast, under the exact same conditions last YEARS. I've never actually had one go bad, yet these...these last weeks or months for me so far. I'll get occasional connect/disconnects at first, maybe it'll only work plugged in one direction. Then slowly (or quickly) it'll just stop working entirely.

If any other mobile OS handled podcasts decently I'd have to switch just because of these horrible cables. They need to use micro USB like everyone else, or heck, go back to the 30-pin connector which at least was a lot more reliable than this...

Not even half a year, and the lightning cord has shorted. I know iPhone 5 users that have been through THREE charger cords since the release of the phone!! Now I have to go buy a new one. Terrible.

Go back to a cord that works

Hey Apple, I left android phones because I was tired of stuff that did not work. Started with the iphone4 and I still have the original charger that is almost 3 years old. I have replaced 3 of these lightning cables since December because the solder breaks off inside the connector from very little stress. There needs to be a real solution brought to the table for this. We don't expect this kind of garbage from an apple product.

Already on my THIRD cord. First one broke just a couple of weeks after I got my 5th gen iPod, so I bought a new one. Second one broke in March. Now I'm using my sister's, and even now this one is breaking! You have to put pressure on a certain spot of the cord for it to charge and sync your iDevice. Terrible cord. Revert back to the 30-Pin or make these cords sturdier. That Simple.

    Ever heard of a warranty?

    • Written by from Oakhurst

Okay. I don't know what it is with you people complaining about Apple Cords. Apple offers a 12 month warranty on your phone, cord, and any other accessories they sell. So WHY are you people "buying" so many new cords? If the cable shreds, call 1800applecare and theyll replace your cable no charge for 12 months.
You people make NO SENSE whatsoever. I use my cable 10+ hours a day and beat the heck out of it. Finally after (what is it now, 8 months? of ownership) my cord stopped working. Went to Apple Store and walked out 5 minutes later with a new cord. You pay a premium for apple products for their great warranty!

I've had one of my cables since I received my iPhone the day they were released. I have dragged it around with me every where. The cable works great and looks brand new. I also have the 4th generation iPad and that cable works, looks, and is in great shape. My husband hasn't had any problems with his cables either. They work great and are long lasting.

    Why???

    • Written by from Bolingbrook

1 of 2 people found this useful

The charger with the rest of the iPod/iPhone family seemed to be sturdier than this lightning cord. I am simply applauded at the shortness or lack of lifetime this cord has. since its so small the cord can't help but to bend causing the iPod and iPhone to stop charging. Develop a thicker and more sturdy end and it will solve the issue. Thanks.

    WHY APPLE WHY????

Apple is one of the most innovative/creative companies in the world BUT has the WORST charging cable for the iphone5. I have already gone through about 4 cables. This is ridiculous!!! Apple really needs to do something to improve this. As well as make it cheaper when they do for all of the people that have already bought multiple lightning cables.
