    DO NOT BUY

This is a terrible cable. The quality is horrible and the ends break after a few weeks of using. Go to radio shack and look at their braided lightning cables. They cost the same and are made of a braided fabric that will not kink and tear like these ones.

last Apple product that my family will buy if the don't rectify workmanship

I Have been a faithful follower of Apple products for several years.and find it rather disappointing on the poor craftsmanship of these cords. I would be surprised if they don't follow up with the input of loyal and new customers, since I'm now looking at future buys with competitors in the market, and I'm pretty certain that others are considering this option.
Heck, I'm in the market for a new laptop and don't think Apple is the right choice at this time.
    Thanks for let-down ...

    Apple charger cables too SHORT!

I have one big problem with apple charger cables whether for iPhones or iPads: they are too short. I have to be as close to the power source as possible and that is not conducive at all. Make them longer and don't tell me about buying another cord coz we deserve the best from Apple!

From a devoted Apple/Mac girl who has had iphones for 5 years and NEVER needed new cables due to breakage- this is disheartening!
I am extremely gentle and careful with all of my Apple products- iPad, iPhone, Airbook, Mac- this is the first one I have had to consistently replace- third cord since the first one and still breaking.
Not cool Apple- make it work people! Fix it please~

We have loads of Apple products and this is the only time we've complained when this broke, was pretty much told it was our fault for bending it. Ridiculous. Sort it out. On our 3rd since January!

    Really poor quality

Apple really needs to concentrate on increasing the quality of their charging accessories. I've had to replace my charging cable for my macbook air twice now, and now I've had the iPhone 5 for 3 months, and the cable is destroyed, won't charge. I'm extremely disappointed. Very expensive and very cheaply built.

I'm not sure what else I can add to the prior poor reviews. In basic and simple termis, this cord is horribly manufactured. The durability of it is non-existent. Be prepared and have extra on-hand. Remember, when the day and time come when you really need a charge, you will find this cord is broken.

I just picked up my 3rd, thats right 3rd cord since i got my phone in december. My original gave out in the end of april, I bought a new one in the beginning of may, that one would not work at all, so I bought a new one three days later now that one just gave one and I just bought a new one again. Thanks Apple for making completely DISPOSABLE cords. I need a second job just to keep up with the cost of the chargers and how often I must replace them.

I was really excited about the new thunderbolt ports for the iphone 5, but at the same time was sad about switching over to a new system. I have had my phone since october/november 2012 today 5-17-2013 my chord is broke (it still works but I must angle it in a certain angle). I wish for apple to make it stronger somehow I really like the design but it is way to easily damageable and will break. Apple's usb chords for the ipod touch, iphone 4 etc....those were pretty darn amazing really tough. I just wish that apple could make it to be stronger, because replacing these things take our our time and money, they are roughly 20 USD so it can get pricy. Just hoping for a better (Stronger).

I'm now on my third cord since I purchased my iphone 5 one week before Christmas. I think Apple should offer free replacement cords till this flaw is fixed.

too fragile, shorter lifespan than a fruit fly.
I only rated it a one, because I had no option for zero...

We have had every model iphone apple has ever made, and 2 of some of them, and we have two ipads. I doubt I will ever buy another apple product that uses these lightning cords.
it is a constant battle to have working cords when one suddenly quits working.....Fed up.
The iphone is awesome, but too much trouble, and expense to own one with the junk lightning cord.
I own apple products for their quality, and this is ruining the experience. I have went through 6 cords in a year....

    I've gone through 4

I've gone through four of them. The tips of the lightening cords, where you insert the cord to hook it the phone, are constantly burning out.

They work great for a few weeks and then die.

I only keep the charger at home and plug my phone in at the end of the day. I have gone through two already, currently awaiting my third in the mail due to issues since I purchased the phone in November. Cord easily kinks up and stops working.

These new lighting cords are awful.

I have been a apple customer since 2005. I had an iPod, then I got the iPhone when they came out. I never had any problems with the old cords like I do with this new one. I already had 3 of them since I got my iPhone 5 in January (five months ago). There seems to be some type of shortage. My friends have had problems with theirs also. It's best just to get the old one and a converter adaptor.

I bought a new iPhone 5 in October 2012. Since then (7 months) I am about to get my 3rd charging cord. They keep breaking at the hub. I have NEVER replace a charging cord with any other phone I've owned. This is ridiculous--3 charging cords within 7 months. C'mon APPLE!

Sure it's nice that I can flip the charger anyway and it will still plug in, but I have gone through FOUR of these since purchasing my iPhone 5 in December. It is currently May. These cords do not last long at all. Apple should honestly be ashamed of this charger because of how poor it is. I still have the older lightning cable that is compatible for iPhones 4 and below that works fine, and it is over two years old. I don't know what the major difference is that would cause these chargers to be so useless, but it NEEDS to be fixed.

Lighting to USB Cable are horribly made.

Going to have to get a 3rd lighting cable now. Same issue with the first 2, where eventually I will have to move/wiggle around the cable very carefully until I find that magical spot for it to actually want to charge, and then I have to make sure a piece of dust won't fall near it or else it stops.
Hope they have been doing replacements on the Lightning Cables. As I can't afford to keep replacing these.

    Breaks easily

for some reason the cables for older iPhones have lasted way long than this one. it breaks after the little part that covers the first bit of the cable on the lightning side, it needs to have a bit larger part that covers the rest of the wire. The casing comes unattached leaving the wire free to bend and become frayed right away.

It probably because the cord is short and the lightning end is where it's most likely to be bent, but Apple needs to take that into affect and maybe even making the plastic casing longer so that your entire index finger can grab it
