    Another broken cord

    • Written by from Garland

So I don't want to be repetitive but my original cord lasted 5-6 months then stopped working so I contacted the far from genius bar at my local apple store. I set up an appointment (dumb that someone has to set up an appointment to get any customer service to solve a problem). The apple store genius was very nice and said they would replace the cable for free 1 time I said ok but what happens if this one goes out and she said it shouldn't go out and that I have to make sure that when I put my phone on the charger to hold it by the plug for the phone. Well i did that and it know does not work again. I will attempt to get another free one from apple mainly because the knock one i have bought will only work for a very short time before the error message shows up on my screen. Apple you need to get a handle on this immediately. if i am going to pay $20 for a cable it should be almost indestructible.

    Designed to fail

    • Written by from West Linton

As is clear from other reviews, as well as my own personal experience, this cable will break within a few months. Apple have clearly designed it this way so they can make more money out of their customers on top of their already overpriced products by using cheaply made cables which they are selling at a high price. Then to add insult to injury, they add a chip so you can't use third party cables - no other company has such poor ethics. Yes, there may be hacks to prolong the life of the cable, but that should be down to apple, not the end user.

What the heck, could you make a cord anymore limp and brittle? I think not.....Iphone 5 power cords are bad.

Bought a brand new iPhone 5S and the cable lasted 3 days. I can't believe they want $30 for this garbage.

    Worst cable on earth

    • Written by from Osijek

White insulation around this cable, like all other cables from Apple, will break with normal use! Material is just horrendous, and if you live in a country without genius bar, Apple will not replace it, you will have to pay for another one.

Paid over 200$ on replacement cables for iPhone and Mac in the past 2 yrs. Extremely disappointed.

    Broken and frayed again

    • Written by from Miami Beach

I now must replace my lightning USB cable for the 3rd time for my iPhone5, which I purchased in December. Both of them are frayed. Like some many others here, I am disappointed and frustrated with poor quality of this product.

    HORRIBLE

    • Written by from Botwood

I just picked up my 3rd, thats right 3rd cord since i got my phone in december. My original gave out in the end of april, I bought a new one in the beginning of may, that one would not work at all, so I bought a new one three days later now that one just gave one and I just bought a new one again. Thanks Apple for making completely DISPOSABLE cords. I need a second job just to keep up with the cost of the chargers and how often I must replace them.

I've owned many cables for iphones, ipods, Macs for years and never experienced any problems with them. Now, I've had 2...TWO of these Lightning to USB cables go bad. They both cause connection issues. I am replacing them today and hoping they will be of the quality I have come to expect from Apple products.

    AWFUL

    • Written by from MOUNT OLIVE

What is the deal with these lousy cords? I got my iphone 5 when it came out and i've already had to buy two replacement lightning cords. I'm really tired of this, perhaps I should sell this phone and go with the Samsung Galaxy. At this rate I could have almost bought a new phone for the price of these cords. I had the iphone 3GS and NEVER bought a new cord for it. Completely shoddy workmanship or a plan by Apple?

Stopped working after about 3 months!

    • Written by from East Point

I love the new design of the cord as far as ease of use - doesn't matter which way you put it in, and the slim design is nice.

BUT (huge but), after about 3 months of use, it appears that the cable has broken at the joint of the hard plastic adapter and the cable itself. I have to strategically position the cord to ensure that a charge is flowing. It seems to just be a result of wear and tear - except I've only had it for 3 months, so this shouldn't be happening...YET.

Hopefully when I go to the Apple store today, they realize it's a faulty design and don't make me purchase a new one. One can only hope!

    iphone 5 charger breaks easily

    • Written by from CLINTON TOWNSHIP

My daughter got the new iPhone 5 for Christmas (just 2 months ago) and we are on cord #4! They are cheaply made in comparison to the old chargers for all my other Apple products. I think they are extremely expensive and poorly made. Come one Apple. I expect more from your company!

    Breaks Easily

    • Written by

I've had my charger cord since I purchased it in November. It has already broken and only charges when it feels like it. I have never owned such a badly engineered product. This cord has not been bent, cut or frayed. Luckily I have a backup cord from my daughter's iPad mini. The cord's design is obviously flawed and too fragile for regular use. Apple should provide replacements at no charge. I've already stepped away from the iPhone band wagon, it maybe time to step away from Apple based tablets. I am truly dissatisfied and refuse to pay another $18 for an item that shouldn't have broken just sitting on my desk.

    Bacon Neck

    • Written by from Chula Vista

147 Days. Thats how long it took for this thing to break. The neck nearest the Lightning connector began to crumple like bacon and has stopped charging/connecting completely.

It would be nice if the Lightning to USB cable had a 1 year or AT LEAST 6 month warranty so that Apple can replace the defective products.

That being said, i still prefer these over the old 30 pin connector. The ability to charge in any direction is very convenient.

I got my cord during Black Friday with my new iPod touch, and now only a few months after the cord is very picky. You have to hold it in a certain spot then lay it down and not touch it if you want it to keep charging, not impressed. Expected better quality.

Lightning to USB is no good!!

    • Written by from Clinton township

I like that it can charge fast but come on I've had it since it first came out and I am already on cord number 5!!! With the latest cord purchased from sprint for $30 didn't even last 2 full weeks before it started messing up. the other cords have been purchased from the apple store and they lasted about a month. I tried everything to not have my charger defect took care of it, didn't leave it plugged in when it wasn't in use yet still it fails. I seriously am getting beyond ticked off because once the phone dies it is dang near impossible to get it to start charging. the wiggle effect seems to only work when the phone is not completely dead which mine currently is ugh.

    Great, but doesn't last long...

    • Written by from Vancouver

This product worked really well when i first got it. I really liked the new size and design. But after a month or two the cable became weak and didn't work when it was plugged in. I had to twist it or hold it a certain way or else it wouldn't work. I'll try to be more careful with my new one, but i hope they come up with a more durable and longlasting cable.

    Stopped working after 2 months

    • Written by from Asheville

I bought the iPhone 5 in October and within 2 months the charger completely stopped working, this is incredibly inconvenient. Currently waiting on my new charger but from what I've heard this seems to be an ongoing problem that apple definitely needs to fix.
