    Lightning fast in turnover

    • Written by from Niles

I've had 2 lightning cables so far, I'm on my way to my third one. I bought the second one this past march and stopped working on me yesterday. I had to bend it in so many ways to charge my phone. I am tired of wasting money on this piece of garbage. I am only forced to give this product 1 star because it won't let me give 0 stars which it rightfully deserves! Get it together Apple!

    Garbage.

    • Written by from Ottawa

3 cables, going to be 4 soon in just over a year.

Great product! Just the absolute best if you love dumping money on subpar cables.

I will be looking at alternatives when my contract is up.

Poor Quality - If I could have I would have rated it no stars.

    • Written by from West Perth

I know this item is a frequently used item and is susceptible to wear and tear however this is now the 3rd cable I have had to replace in less that 12 months. Come on Apple, Use some of your innovation and "amazing" design and make the cable more durable.

    Poorly Manufactured

    • Written by from Richmond

Gone through 4 cables and my current cables are starting to break connection between the connector and cable. The connection between the connectors and cable are so poorly designed. Really surprised the company sells this, and curious if they put this product through any reliability studies... This is such a simple component, it frustrates me that it's so poorly designed and manufactured...

It only lasted me 3 months

    • Written by from West Sacramento

It's not even a 2 star product Apple! The chargers need to be recalled because they are cheap quality and I'm sure everyone else agrees. My charger only lasted 3 months and then the cable snapped right under the plug. I thought I was an idiot but after reading all the reviews on here, I guess its not really my fault. The charger itself was made terribly.

    Garbage

    • Written by from St Louis

This thing is joke. I pulled it out of my ipad mini and then it just shocked me. And yes, it didn't feel great. Then, I had that one replaced. It was a hassle. They had to assign me a case manager. I was without an iPad for a month. Bottom line, its junk.

For an apple product, a well known and trusted brand i was very disappointed in the new iPhone 5 lightening to usb charger.I have purchased 3 cables within 2 months as they keep breaking in the same place, its not like its a cheap charger you could buy everyday i mean £25 is quite expensive in my eyes for a usb cable . Apple need to fix this issue as i have seen many complaints regarding the same problem and apple will lose their loyal customers over something that could be improved and/or changed .

    Horrible wire

    • Written by from Maspeth

I am on my second lightning wire already (less than 6 months). The old 30 pin wire I only had to purchase a new one when I needed an extra wire. Apple needs to recall these wires like they do with ipods especially since alot of people have already purchased more than one. If you plan on changing something so drastic maybe spend some time putting it through the rigors of everyday life before releasing it to the public.

    REALLY APPLE!?

    • Written by from Chandler

I am on my third cord in three months. First of all the chargers aren't getting any cheaper, and I am so sick of having to buy them every month! I am now in desperate need of a new charger AGAIN! I have 6 functional chargers for my 4 and 4s... WHY APPLE? did you have to change the port size? the original plug in for all the ipods/etc were just fine.

    iphone 5 charger breaks easily

    • Written by from CLINTON TOWNSHIP

My daughter got the new iPhone 5 for Christmas (just 2 months ago) and we are on cord #4! They are cheaply made in comparison to the old chargers for all my other Apple products. I think they are extremely expensive and poorly made. Come one Apple. I expect more from your company!

    Breaks Easily

    • Written by

I've had my charger cord since I purchased it in November. It has already broken and only charges when it feels like it. I have never owned such a badly engineered product. This cord has not been bent, cut or frayed. Luckily I have a backup cord from my daughter's iPad mini. The cord's design is obviously flawed and too fragile for regular use. Apple should provide replacements at no charge. I've already stepped away from the iPhone band wagon, it maybe time to step away from Apple based tablets. I am truly dissatisfied and refuse to pay another $18 for an item that shouldn't have broken just sitting on my desk.

    Yup...it's junk...

    • Written by from Blackwood

Been through 2 of these already...after the second one went, I got down to business...removed the rubber sheathing, exposed the wires, and found that both had broken in exactly the same place...major flaw in the design...where did the quality go? I mean honestly...I have 5 iPhones in my house...2 iPad 2's...an iPad mini...and a MacBook Pro...is this what I have to look forward to? Use junk to make a product and you end up with junk...I'd really prefer some " beefy" wiring over buying new ones all the time...I really don't get it? It looks so bad for them it's crazy...hands down the worst thing that they have ever designed, and put on the market...

Stopped working in two months. Wire shorting at connection to plug

    • Written by from Burtonsville

Mine quit working after 2 months. Connection kept going on and off repeatedly until finally it just quit working. Wire was bent and twisted where it connects to the plug on the phone end of the cable. I could feel the electricity through the wire so I disposed of it before it got any more damage. Not sure but seemed like it got over heated while charging? Only used in my Apple charging block. Not happy.

Looks neat and what not, but..

    • Written by from Blackfoot

I have my cable laying on my counter, so it's never been bent, wrapped, pulled, or been played rough with. I recently found that I have to move the wire around for my phone to detect it and actually charge, most of the time it quits on me so I constantly have a dead phone.. after almost three weeks my charger is dead too. I love the design though!

    Works fine... but....

    • Written by from Doylestown

Yeah, it works fine, but is no faster the the previous version. USB 3.0 would have been nicer.

Basically every store is sold out of them, and the .com store has a two week waiting period. I like to have a few spares for work and the car. I'm stuck taking the thing around with me everywhere. That's kinda annoying.

It clicks in nicely, and stays put. USB end of the cord is a little smaller and doesn't quite bump up against my MBP as well as the older version. It jiggles loose easier.

Overall I'd say it's just OK.

    Need an angled connector, apple!

    • Written by from Thunder Bay

I have numerous iPod 30 pin cables around the house with tephlon tape wrapped around the exposed bare wires. They frayed from using the idevices while charging, bending the cable. This lightning cable is solid when inserted and that should save it some wear and tear,. However, they need to release an angled connector for when resting the bottom of the phone on ones self so that the cable doesn't break with repeated bending from being rested this way.

    improved but still not great

    • Written by from Brandon

i love the new tip for the cable. it fits no matter which way it is turned. the downfall, apple still made it as short as the previous usb cable. even if you have a wall socket directly by your bed there is barely enough room for the cable to reach to a night stand. come on apple make a longer cable, we have been saying this since the original iphone. ill spend $20 on cheaply made 6 and 10 foot cables for $5 a piece before i buy a second short cable from apple. the only thing this cable is good for is if it is in your car because 41 inches is plenty for a car charger.
