    Lightning cables ruined everything

    I have owned 30+ lightning cables, and they all broke due to the poor construction of them or for no apparent reason. They just stop working, and it's terrible.

    One of the worst cables I have ever had to put up with.

    I've had this cable for four months, and apparently that's all it takes for the thing to die. When it wasn't broken, it worked fine. I like the idea of quick plug-in, but the cord is much too short, causing me to have to use an extension cord just to use my iPad while it's on charge.But, as mentioned before, the cable has given up, so I have to go out and buy a new one.

    Poor Quality - IOS redesign partly to blame.

    My family has 8 Apple products that use lightning cables. Apple makes great products - this cable is not one of them. iPhone users plug in this cable at least once per day, so the cable needs to be very robust. I agree with the negative reviews as far as the nature of the problem - despite careful use these cables break often.

    An important point that most reviewers have not really touched on concerns the issue that this hardware problem is compounded by a redesign of IOS allowing you iPhone or iPad to "reject" a cable - thus causing them to stop working. Agree?

    they don't work

    I've got about 20 of these cables floating around the house from iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPad mini, iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 Plus, they have all stopped working, these are original cables from the devices when bought brand new, and cables bought from Apple stores ! It's disgusting that a company like apple cannot appear to be able to design and implement a cable, yet can build an iPad or iPhone !

    I am at a point where I'm going to seek the lot of them and take my business elsewhere, I have spent over £2000 on devices that cannot be charged because Apple doesn't know how to make cables that work, all other phone companies use usb cables that don't go wrong, they are simple and fit almost any other manufacturer devices. I'm not sure why the EU allows Apple to get away with this as they are supposed to have chargers that comply with the usb mini standard.

    I'm sitting here right now on my iPhone 6 Plus writing this with the original charger plugged in, guess what? It's not charging !

    Stuck Cables

    Plugged my mom's iPhone 5 into computer using 2 different lightning USB cables, and the USB end got stuck both times.

    What kind of horrible design flaw is going on here? A quick google search indicates that I am not the only one experiencing this. And to those that say "Just don't pull the cord out by the wire. Disconnect it holding the connector" - well guess what? You don't have enough leverage or grip (without a rubber band or pliers) to get this thing off. I am smart enough to know not to pull by the cord for fear of damaging the wire, so, hanging onto the connector, it took a combination of three people to work together to get it free. One to hold the connector. One to pull the laptop itself in the other direction. One to use a thin rod to add a little more leverage to free the cord. Unfortunately, I can't just produce two copies of myself every time I want to pull this junk cord out of a computer so... You, Apply, have a design problem. It might not be that prevalent, and it may only be something like 10% of your community, but that's 10% you are failing. Google it.

    Lightning charger

    Well, we have an iPad air roughly one year old, an iPod less than three months old , and an iphone 6 plus that I've had for six weeks. All of the lightning chargers cords have or are soon to fail, leaving me with no way to charge these devices. I am VERY careful with these charger cables despite the bashing put forth by the very lucky ones whose lightning chargers still work. I am SICKENED, because I was ready to switch to samsung , but didn't because the iphone 6plus was released and it was the answer to my dreams due to it's larger, easier to read size. But now I'm sickened because I have this new iphone 6plus that I'm going to have to spend a fortune in charger cables for; money I can't afford to waste on POOR quality. I can't even buy the cheaper model charger cables because Apple saw to it that they are not compatable with these devices! I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, and that's just where you want me to be, Apple! If the problem isn't fixed by the time I'm ready for a new phone I WILL be switching to Samsung! My husband has already decided he's not going with apple due to these problems- and he IS ready for a new phone. It's sad that this issue hasn't been addressed yet, but then you wouldn't be making money off of us if you fixed it. Well, instead, you'll lose me, and many others, as loyal customers who switch due your selfishness. VERY UPSET!! Wish I did t have to even give it ONE star!!!

    Terrible Quality

    Not only did my iPad 4's cord rip and fray, so did the cord for my iPhone 4s. I traded my newest 4s charger with my sister for her old one; the old ones weren't made with the thin, useless rubber the new cords are made with. Sad that it's an Apple product.

    Chargers are the worst on the market.

    I too am fed up with your chargers. I love Apple products as a rule, but your chargers don't hold up, and then when I buy a n alternate version, you have found a way to insure it won't work or is not compatable. Also, why is it that you have these huge white blocks on your chargjng cords. They act like weights that also add to the issue with cords not holding up. This goes for every charger you mace. Mac book pro chargers to Iphone 6 plus.
    If you all can't figure out how to do it, then make sure you let others (no mac) fix it.

    easy fix for lightning cable

    The first cable that came with the iPhone 6 lasted all of 5 weeks, got a new cable and some heat shrink tubing and put two layers on the cable where the connector is connected to the cable. Solid fix!

    It doesn't take long under normal use for the plastic coating to break at the point of tension, exposing the metal wires. At $20 for this little thing, can the profit margin really be so tiny that the cord can't be built to last?

    Horrible Quality, Breaks within months.

    In the past year I have thrown away 6 Apple lightning to USB cables. Every single one had the exact same problem. On the Lightning connector, it starts corroding starting in the middle section and gets worse from there. They last 2-3 months tops and then won't charge the iPhones or iPads. Maybe Apple is getting lazy with quality as they are so big now, but thats how companies lose customers. Hopefully they will get their act together and fix this problem.

    Look here's the thing

    Lets say we are talking two pronged power cords that plug into wall outlets. If you yank the plug out of the wall every time by the cord, it's going to overtime, become damaged and possibly even cause a safety hazard. Same holds true with lightning cables. If you grasp the cord by the the connector when disconnecting you will find it doesn't become damaged. I have plenty of lightning cables and used properly they seem to hold up pretty well. Though I suppose you should be able to disconnect your cord however you see fit and so I will hold back one star and give this product a four star rating.

    Lightning Rage!!!

    I can't believe after so many issues and complaints from Apple loyal customers, Apple continues to launch their products using this deficient accessory. I have bought several; Apple or generic; they all have the same problem and end up failing. I am replacing my iPhone 5s (which I love you) for two reasons:
    First One: THESE CABLES
    Second One: Lack of memory expansion slots like Mini SD cards that allow you to increase memory on your phone; with 16GB, if you leave your phone light enough maybe you are lucky enough as to update its operating system software every time there is a new release. Otherwise you are stuck until you free up memory.
    So I have decided to take the easier approach to ease of life; I need a phone, like the convenience of apps and the easiness and friendliness of miniusb chargers, plus I want to take pictures and music with me at a reasonable cost. I am going with HTC M8 today, and replacing my iMac with a friendly Windows hybrid laptop. Will keep an old iPad because there is some aviation software that only runs on IPad. End of the story and bad press for Apple. I am sure if Steve was still with us he wouldn't allow this to happen!!!!

    Very Reliable, not inexpensive

    I have never had an Apple provided cable fail. Not sure what is going on with the cables that are receiving one star. At one point I believed in the rating of products, but not here. Between my wife and I, we have had five iPads, six iPhone and three iPods. All cables (and chargers) still work.

    Please go back to old coating

    I am tired of having to replace your chargers every other month because of the material you use to coat the wire causing the chargers to scrunch up and short circuit, or even fray. Yet you people wonder why people would rather send 5-15 bucks less or even MORE money than your brand on third party chargers. The coating used on your older chargers was good and this was one of the most pointless switches I have ever seen. My iPod charger from 2003 is still being used on my older iPhone that i use for games when connected to the house wifi. An 11 year old charger that still works because it wasn't designed to break every few months. People shell out lots of money for your macbooks and phones, yet you guys went cheaper over the years on your chargers and expect everyone to be ok with shelling out 20 bucks per charger then get mad when people look for other options. The ratings on all of your charging devices speak for themselves. THis has gotten ridiculous over the years.

    An epic fail

    I actually have to worry whether my Apple devices are charging, and that is very poor reflection on Apple and their quality control (or lack thereof). The connection simply goes bad between the male plug and the female socket. Use of these cables is an epic fail on Apple's part. I like their products, but I do not like their unwillingness to admit mistakes.
