    Shoddy product

    • Written by from Street

I have four lightning cables and each of them now have frayed ends near the connector. This is clearly an engineering problem. If Apple was wise they'd offer replacements.

    Zapped by Lightning Cables

    • Written by from Shawnee

I love Apple, have at least one of most products and have never written a review — but the lightning cables are honestly terrible. I have 3 iPad minis for 3 children ages 10-16, and in the past year I have easily purchased at least 10 replacement lightning cables... originally starting with Apple brand, then trying other brands, different lengths and most recently applying wire tape to each end of the cables going into the lightning and usb connectors - before ever being used - with hope that it might help to prevent damage to the internal wiring. I've even made quadruple certain that each child knows how to gently connect/disconnect the cables and have used different color cables to determine if one child is more rough than another, but this theory proved false. Ultimately, it comes down to a cable that needs to be constructed to match the quality of the product and guaranteed/easily replaced, if needed. The price of replacing the cables is ruining an otherwise incredible experience with your products.

I am a strict apple user and I have been for almost 6 yrs now, so when the Iphone 5 came I out I got it. The problem with the iPhone 5 that the charger is horrible. I have been through 3 chargers within a year. Every charger I've had has broken in the same place and in the same way. They are prone to shortages. APPLE YOU MUST DO BETTER, I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!

    Great except...

    • Written by from newark

I love how much smaller it is, and it's reversible! Except I was a bit disappointed to see they haven't accelerated the speed to USB 3.0 yet. My Retina has USB 3.0 and so does the Air and standard Pros so why not make the cable to work to the rising standard.

    Expensive product with no quality.

    • Written by from Germantown

Within a year, i have gone through 2 wall chargers and three cords for my iPone5.
This is very disappointing, since these parts are very expensive. Do they even tested their products for a while before introduce them to the public?
There is no excuse what so ever for Apple to make such inferior products. This is showing me that Apple no longer cares for the quality of their products.
I am now purchasing Galaxy s5 and forget apple products forever.

    Disposable cable, non-disposable price

    • Written by from Petoskey

I've been through three Apple brand lightning cables this year, and they keep breaking. I plug them in carefully, and make sure to never pull them out by the cords. I'm super mindful, almost reverent of how delicate they are, and still, they manage to break somewhere inside the cable and stop charging my devices. I love my iphone, and I'd like to keep using Apple's products in the future, but the lightning cable is GARBAGE. My knockoff cable cost me $8, and lasted the same amount of time, so I'm not sure the real deal is even worth the cost anymore. Shame on you, Apple. Have you seen the reviews of this product? There are over 1000 1 star reviews for this product. Get it together, Apple! And while you're at it, your ear buds never stay in my ears.

Had this phone since October and I've had to purchase 4 new cables, truly pathetic product. Apple should invest some time in producing a reliable charger rather than developing Siri, something truly useless. I have used my last 10 % to write this review. My last contract with an apple iphone. Seriously disappointed.

Just bought a new one and it doesnt work

    • Written by from Indianapolis

Just like everyone else I had just the one charger when I bought the phone so I just bought a brand new cable to have at work and it doesnt work at all through the usb. It came on once but did not have any option to download photos or anything but it charged. Second thru twelfth times I have tried it nothing. No pop ups on screen, no screen showing it is charging. What a piece of junk. Gave it two stars because the first one worked that was shipped with the phone. I plugged it into multiple computers too and still nothing

    A little let down...

    • Written by from Crawfordville

Pros: The cable is much easier to plug in and feels less fragile at the connection site than the 30 pin connector of old. I don't know if it is true, but it feels like it charges faster too.

Cons: The square edges of the USB part are tough on the fingers. When I first got my phone, I thought it was a little tough to get out of the adapter but just shrugged it off. I then plugged it into my apple keyboard to sync and all that, which went ok. One problem though, the cable is now stuck in the USB port. No amount of force will get it out. I resorted to needle nose pliers and merely broke the plastic casing off of it. USB is not something dramatically new in design. It baffles me how a company so focused on fit and finish could let that slide by. Other people I know have encountered similar problems. It is very frustrating. Now I have to charge my phone by my computer (which is in my bedroom, so it can be pretty bright without a blanket on the screen). I love apple products normally, but come on...

    It Is What It Is

    • Written by from Wallkill

    A charger/data cable.

My only concern are the leads. The previous cables could be dropped, sat on, tossed in a bag/pocket/drawer without a second thought.

I'm not so sure the same can be said of the Lightening; but that may be because of how fragile it looks because I know there's no data to corrupt if you (for example) touch the leads.

    Lightning fast in turnover

    • Written by from Niles

I've had 2 lightning cables so far, I'm on my way to my third one. I bought the second one this past march and stopped working on me yesterday. I had to bend it in so many ways to charge my phone. I am tired of wasting money on this piece of garbage. I am only forced to give this product 1 star because it won't let me give 0 stars which it rightfully deserves! Get it together Apple!

3 cables, going to be 4 soon in just over a year.

Great product! Just the absolute best if you love dumping money on subpar cables.

I will be looking at alternatives when my contract is up.
