    Break very easily

I expected more from such an expensive phone as IPhone! The charger breaks every 3 months and always in the same spot!! Apple should fix this...I can't believe the poor quality of a $20 charger...

I'd like to say that I was going to buy a replacement cable for the mine that broke, however after reading reviews, I think I'll just stick to my mophie case that uses a different adapter. How can you expect anyone to purchase these products with so many negative reviews? Reviews of poor products are going to bring an end to this company

I've gone through 4 cables since the release of the iPhone 5 apple really needs to fix this problem. I'm starting to hate the iPhone due to constantly having to purchase new cable to keep it charged.

Very upset with the overall design of the Lightening Cable... I have had many issues and always the end result in buying a new cable.. I absolutely love the idea of the lightening cable and its simplicity and bi-directional insert. However.... to have such a flimsy cable be on the the market is ridiculous... even WORSE is to have APPLE SUPPLY IT! Would be better making it out of metal from the top to about 3" down so the stupid thing does not break. ALL of the cables that went bad had the same issue, loose connection and having to wiggle and fight with it to charge. I would appreciate something would at least hold up to removing and inserting into the phone from the same company... Bad on Apple....

On the + note i LOVE MY iPHONE 5!

I don't particularly abuse these cables and all of them have failed in the same place. I've had to switch to other chargers with flat cable design. As always with a fault in design, I think apple should do something about it!

I'm a bit fed up with the charger failing at inappropriate times!

    WARRANTY

    • Written by from Norfolk

Ok, so despite the reviews i got this charger today, because well, what else am i going to do? i got my iPhone 5 in jan. 2013 and used the original cord it came with for a very long time, and the last few months/weeks of its life is when it was not taken care of properly (due to someone else using it) and that's when it finally broke. it lasted probably longer than 6 months. Anyway, not many other reviews are talking about the warranty it comes with, it has a 1 year warranty and you get the receipt through E-mail so you don't lose it. I'm sure that when this charger goes that they will try everything they can to say it was my fault and not give me the warranty but well see. So as long as you take care of it, like don't just rip it out by the cord, only unplug it by the plastic pieces and don't bend it/be careless, then it should last you a while and should be covered by warranty.

    Faulty cable.

    • Written by from Princeton

I like the idea of a pin that works backwards or forwards, but it's not worth the issues the cable causes. I'm only able to charge my iPhone 5 (purchased in summer 2013), with an old iPhone cable using a Lightning adapter. I had problems with the original Lightning cable early on, with my Macbook Pro giving me a notification that it was using too much USB power and dropping the charge. Because of that, I purchased a new Lightning cable, but it gave me the same problem and it had to be returned.

Recently, I was sent a replacement iPhone via warranty, and it included a new cable as well. It worked for about a day, then finally, less than a week later, the Lightning pin actually broke off from the rest of the cable after gently unplugging the phone. This is a problem that absolutely needs fixed ASAP. Perhaps it is with newer iPhones, but from the sound of friends and family with the 5C and the 5S, it still gives them problems - often right out of the box.

    Poorly made cables.

    • Written by from Greenville

I am a fan of Apple products and I have been surprised by how poorly these cables have performed. My family has three I-Phone 5s and one I-Pod 5. Four out of four cables failed. Two in less than a year, and two at 13 months. Apple should fix the problem and replace the cables at no charge to the customer. They will only replace the cables that are less than a year old. Their products are expensive compared to the competition and in the past I didn't mind paying extra because their quality and technology were so good. I'm sorry to say that it appears to no longer be the case. The only reason I didn't give the cable 0 stars is because 1 is the lowest rating I can give it.

This Is a Joke of a Charger

    • Written by from Lewis center

I am so upset with Apple. Not only is the charger very short, but it breaks incredibly easily. I still use my iPhone 5, and I am not kidding when I say I've gone through 7. They always break in the same spot.

I have had to buy multiple replacement cords for my daughters phone since they have had the 5s. I still use my original 4s cord that I have had for years. Thought it was the teenagers being rough on the charger cord. Reading others expierences with same I see it is not them. I have been replacing every 3 months.

I have owned FOUR of these cables now and they all break in the same exact place. I have tried going to off brands but I the whole thing about it not being compatible with my phone so it won't charge. It makes me so angry since they are $20 a pop! I'm about to go buy TWO MORE. Apple, I expected more from you!

Seriously Apple. For $20 you can't even make a simple cable that works!!! On my 3rd one now. I have no doubt it will fail too. Does anyone from Apple even read these reviews. >800 negative reviews = you need to do something different!

    Same as the rest

I burn through these cables. It's probably the fact that I'm Spider-Man and use them to swing around New York. Oh no, wait, no I don't. I plug them into the computer or ac adapter and then into my phone. I've gone through three on my iPad 4 and 2 on my 5s and it's the same problem every time. the end that plugs into the phones ends up with loose wiring and becomes very temperamental as to how you touch it. I seem to recall apple making sure that no one else can make their cable and now people have to buy a new one every six months. Coincidental?
Well now I have to go and fight crime with my trusty lightning-cable slinging abilities.
    No. Wait. Still not Spider-Man.

    3 failed cables so far

    • Written by from Woodbury

I have always been pleased with Apple's quality and functionality, but my wife and I both have the iphone 5. My first cable and now my current cable seem to have broken wires internally and will only charge if the cable is tilted in just the right position. The white casing on the lightning connector has also split. My wife's cable sheath has bunched up at the lightning connector end and has now split, exposing the shielding underneath. Currently, we have to use our aftermarket belkin car chargers to reliably charge our phones. Please do a recall or something. Judging by all these reviews, this has become quite an issue.

    Cords coming and going.

    • Written by from Alpine

I have bought at least 8 in the last few months for two iPhone 5's. I first thought it was my wifes phone but now it happening with the cords I have also. Thought it was the knock off but the last two and one of the original cords was from Apple.
Can we (Apple) just fix the problem! Seriously thinking about upgrading to something different because I won’t be able to charge my phones at this rate.

    • Written by from Durham

Just purchased my third cord in just over a year. Didn't realize that Apple was using disposable parts these days. Very disappointed that Apple hasn't redesigned this cord or maybe this is just a new part of their business plan. I guess next time I'll try a third party cord.

    Worst product EVER!

    • Written by from LONDON

I'm currently on my 4th lightening to USB Cable in the space of 12 months! Unacceptable - this is the worst product Apple has ever made - for my previous iPhones which I had for over two years a piece, I never ever needed to replace the chargers - this product is badly designed and very expensive to replace! I would say don't buy any apple products that use this type of cable - you will be sorely disappointed.
