    Absolute Trash

    • Written by from toronto

Want to save yourself time and money? Go buy a 3rd party lightning to USB cable. The apple cable is absolute garbage. I know a lot a people are saying, "well you just have to be careful with it." Well, one would expect a certain amount of durability of a cable for a MOBILE device. You should just be able to throw it in a suitcase/bag/purse and not have to worry about the darn thing breaking. Such a disappointment. That is all.

    Easily Damaged

    • Written by from Slate hill

I only keep the charger at home and plug my phone in at the end of the day. I have gone through two already, currently awaiting my third in the mail due to issues since I purchased the phone in November. Cord easily kinks up and stops working.

    REALLY tight fitting

    • Written by from San Diego

Just got my iphone 5 last night and plugged it in to charge. Upon trying to unplug it, I nearly detached the cord from the lightning connector part. I'm really worried that eventually I will pull the cord out of the whole thing. It's so hard to pull that my hand slips off of it and I mistakenly tug on the cord before I realize to stop! Also, why can't the make and send you a LONGER cord with your phone. Because, you know, everyone sits right on the floor next to the outlet when you're using your phone while charging it.

    Way too short!

    • Written by from Littleton

C'mon apple! I was prepared for the mild inconvenience the new port would offer, but this has turned into a bigger hassle than I would've liked. For one, the cord is far too short. I can't plug my phone into any wall outlet and have it reach me at an operable length. If anything they should have made this cord LONGER, not SHORTER. Second, in spite of my efforts to prepare for the change, they are now futile. The adapter they sell doesn't work with a case. Very disappointed.

Quit working one direction after one month

    • Written by from Austin

Only a month old and it has stopped working when plugged in one direction. I have to flip the connector over to get it to charge. How long until that side quits working, too? Good question. Pretty disappointed with the design. There's hundreds of proven connectors out there that would meet the specs of this one, yet they have to design a new proprietary one that fails easily. I normally wouldn't mind a proprietary connector, just make sure it stinkin' works first.

Always good to have some of these.

    • Written by from Richmond Hill

Well since the adapter cost more than this little thing, I figured, better to stock up with this than the adapter. Looks like we're going to need to get used to it. Works like you'd expect. It charges and/or syncs to your computer.

Can't fault it for what it is. 5/5 of because it is just that.

    Awful. Just awful

    • Written by from Yarmouth Port

The design of this cable is absolutely awful. The cable is so fragile, that simply charging your iOS device will result in the cable end coming loose and failing within a relatively short period of time. I've gone through 4 of these cables, and I am very careful. The cable could be made far better by reinforcing the end and perhaps adding a plastic/rubber tab that would be easier to grip with thumb and index finger. This is almost as bad as my 17"MBP that won't charge under load... Very dissatisfied. Would give 0 stars if possible.

This connection is a very bad idea

    • Written by from Coeur d Alene

My phone fell from my desk while plugged in. The Lightning connection just snapped off in the phone. I was able to remove it but I think this is a very poor design.

DO NOT BUY THESE CABLES! I've gone through 4 of these cables already. TRASH product. It works for a month or two and then quits. Ironic how Apple released a software update for iPhones so they'll exclusively charge with "certified" cables. GET IT TOGETHER APPLE!

It charges and all of a sudden it doesn't charge! I wish we could easily return them back to the store & get a different one. Those cables aren't cheap !!!!

    White, short, very profitable

    • Written by from Shorewood

Picking up where Henry Ford and Ma Bell left off, it comes in any color as long as it's white. If stockholders could have their way, Apple would stop making phones and just produce cables like this for their profit margins. Finally, if you want to use your phone while it's plugged in, just have a seat within about 42" of your electrical outlet or computer, or get an extension cord.

    Need to sell them now

    • Written by from Port Charlotte

For some people it may be inconvenient not to have them on the shelves yet. Wether you are dumb enough to allow the phone to drop off a desk and break the connector or just simply travel and would like the ability to have a few spares between locations, Apple needs to get these out on the market. If anyone has broken or cut a cable accidently, you are screwed to say the least. I do like the design of this cable. It is unique and simole for the new iphone. Well done, now just get more on the shelves.

    Apple lightning cable review

    • Written by from Folsom

I have a household of 4. 42, 15, 12, 11 year olds. I have purchased COUNTLESS apple lightning cables in several different lengths....they ALL FAIL! They are WAY overpriced for the quality and length of time that they last!!!! I have extension cords in the garage that I have owned for 20+years that have NEVER FAILED!

    They break all the time

    • Written by from Burlington

I really don't do much to my chargers. I leave them plugged into the same spot every day, and I plug my phone in every night. I barely ever coil it up to transport it or anything like that. And yet, in under one year, I've gone through like 5 or 6 of these stupid things. They always work fine at the beginning, and then after a while it starts being really picky about the position the wire is when it's plugged in and i need to move around the wire to make it work, and eventually it just stops working altogether. Terrible, terrible product, and I hate that I have to spend $20 every time one of these cheap pieces of cr*p break.

Lighting to USB Cable are horribly made.

    • Written by from Stouffville

Going to have to get a 3rd lighting cable now. Same issue with the first 2, where eventually I will have to move/wiggle around the cable very carefully until I find that magical spot for it to actually want to charge, and then I have to make sure a piece of dust won't fall near it or else it stops.
Hope they have been doing replacements on the Lightning Cables. As I can't afford to keep replacing these.
