    Already broken?!

    • Written by from Brights Grove

I got my cord during Black Friday with my new iPod touch, and now only a few months after the cord is very picky. You have to hold it in a certain spot then lay it down and not touch it if you want it to keep charging, not impressed. Expected better quality.

Lightning to USB is no good!!

    • Written by from Clinton township

I like that it can charge fast but come on I've had it since it first came out and I am already on cord number 5!!! With the latest cord purchased from sprint for $30 didn't even last 2 full weeks before it started messing up. the other cords have been purchased from the apple store and they lasted about a month. I tried everything to not have my charger defect took care of it, didn't leave it plugged in when it wasn't in use yet still it fails. I seriously am getting beyond ticked off because once the phone dies it is dang near impossible to get it to start charging. the wiggle effect seems to only work when the phone is not completely dead which mine currently is ugh.

    Great, but doesn't last long...

    • Written by from Vancouver

This product worked really well when i first got it. I really liked the new size and design. But after a month or two the cable became weak and didn't work when it was plugged in. I had to twist it or hold it a certain way or else it wouldn't work. I'll try to be more careful with my new one, but i hope they come up with a more durable and longlasting cable.

    Stopped working after 2 months

    • Written by from Asheville

I bought the iPhone 5 in October and within 2 months the charger completely stopped working, this is incredibly inconvenient. Currently waiting on my new charger but from what I've heard this seems to be an ongoing problem that apple definitely needs to fix.

    Breaks easily

    • Written by from virginia beach

Had to have it replaced twice within two months of owning my new iPhone. It kinks up at the end (toward the phone piece) and eventually stops making contact. The third cable I had is now starting to bunch up. It seems like I'm always having to unplug it and untwist it. The design is nice and easier than the 30-pin. But the cable is too delicate to be called anything but a liability. I know I'll be getting the third one replaced soon. I hope there isn't a hassle.

    arrive broken with iPhone 5

    • Written by from Glastonbury

I love the new design, especially the reversibility. Unfortunately, the Lightning cable that came with my iPhone 5 was broken on arrival. It does not charge or sync with any of my computers. It does charge with the wall plug, so I suspect the problem is related to the chip that is built in to the cable.

    A waste of money

    • Written by from oxford

I've had the iPhone 5s for 9 months and this cord has now broken for the second time. After replacing the first one because I thought it's was a defect the second one has the same exact problem. Many people have this problem too. The rubber outer tube starts bunching up at one end and then you have to spend forever moving the cord around so the phone actually charges and after that it just stops all together. I do not want to replace this for a second time knowing it will happen again. Come on Apple you use to have quality products and now that's gone.

I hate this cord and the monopoly of Apple

    • Written by from COLLIERVILLE

This cord is a piece of garbage. I have had my iPhone 5 for 2 years and gone through 4 of these cords because they always break. I am not rough with these cords but unfortunately they are made just like everything else from this generation, cheap and made to break.

    Poor quality for sure

    • Written by from Muskegon

My daughter is constantly replacing her lighting cords. This is honestly a poor design on Apples part, which is pretty sad considering the company. She along with many others are continually throwing their money away and truthfully Apple should offer up so way to fix their "manufacture" defect and fix the port so that you DO NOT have to use a lightning cord and go back to what actually works.
Time to rethink this one Apple.

    Pitiful

    • Written by from Spring

I genuinely enjoy Apple products, in fact everything I own is made by the company. And I was ecstatic when they finally decided to change the connector from 30-pin to lightning. The connector itself is brilliant and causes me absolutely no trouble...the cable itself however is a different story. I bought my iPhone in December 2012 and to date I have bought THREE of these cables because every time the cable (not the connector) frays and ceases charging. I am sure not to use my iPhone while charging or contort it in any way but it doesn't seem to matter. I still have a really old 30-pin cable (the one with the buttons on the side) and I did everything with that cord and it still looks and works like new. 30-pin cable: concept was poor, quality was impeccable. Lightning cable: the exact opposite. As I've stated, I like Apple and the fact they value innovation. Yet it behooves me that they have time to design and manufacture Apple Watch but still haven't fixed iPhone's TERRIBLE battery-life (who wants to spend the day searching for outlets to charge), Maps (disgraceful app and I can't even delete it) and the ever notorious lightning cable. Apple, DO BETTER.

    Frustrating

    • Written by from Toronto

I'm on my 3rd apple lighting cable for an iPhone I bought in March - not even 8 months of use!!. When I borrowed a friend's cable (because mine kept failing) I got a warning message on my iPhone saying the cable was not a certified apple product and may not work properly. It then refused to charge my phone. It's frustrating that this cable is wreaking havoc on so many loyal Apple consumers. Apple - you need to fix this!!

Fragile cable! I've had 2 begin to fray at the connection point of the cable and phone plug. I'm very disappointed in Apple with this cable. It's also over priced but with out the usual apple quality.

    Extremely Short Life Span

    • Written by from HAZARD

Unfortunately, this cable has the shortest lifespan of any Apple cable I have ever used. And I have practically used them all. I am on the 3rd cable since purchasing the iPad Mini this past Christmas and I even used electrical tape and a plastic tube to increase the longevity of the cable. Sadly, this evening, the 3rd cable has malfunctioned. I will have to purchase cable number 4 tomorrow.

    Lightning to USB Cable

    • Written by from SAINT JOSEPH

I prefer the smaller foot print of the new lightning connector as compared to the 30 pin connecter.... I like the positive connection and the fact that it’s universal so there is no right or wrong way to plug it in. However, there is a huge, huge, huge flaw with this design. With the 30 pin connector, you could grasp the connecter itself to disconnect the device. With the new lightning connector, it is so tiny, that you have almost no option but to pull the cable to disconnect the connector, especially if you use a protective case. So that being said, try as I might to be careful as possible, I am on my 4th lightning cable in as many months... They simply pull apart, and at $19.00 a pop the problem is adding up quickly.

    Awful

    • Written by from Atlanta

I just got the iPhone 5 as a Christmas gift (2 months ago) and the cord is already scrunched at the lightening end and I have to hold it in some awkward position UNTIL TODAY to the point where it wont even charge at all! Apparently a lot of other people have this problem because when I went out to buy a new one, they were all sold out. I think this new cord was not a smart idea and I for one do not want to continue to pay $20 every two months for this.
