    Absolute Trash

    • Written by from Dartmouth

If I could rate this garbage in the negatives it is what you would get. Phone won't charge AGAIN. 3rd cable burned up in a year meaning I will have to make AN APPOINTMENT(!) with your rude & arrogant teenage IStore "genius" to be lectured about the correct use of a charge cable to have my AppleCare fulfilled. My wife is on her 4th. Unbelievable. That along with the forced update on the phone as well as numerous other headaches with your products guarantees that we will NEVER purchase an Apple product again - which currently inventories as 2 MacBook Pros, Apple TV, 3 JunkPhone 5s, 2 Ipads and a 27" Display. The moment my contract is up you guys are gonzo!

    Another broken cord

    • Written by from Garland

So I don't want to be repetitive but my original cord lasted 5-6 months then stopped working so I contacted the far from genius bar at my local apple store. I set up an appointment (dumb that someone has to set up an appointment to get any customer service to solve a problem). The apple store genius was very nice and said they would replace the cable for free 1 time I said ok but what happens if this one goes out and she said it shouldn't go out and that I have to make sure that when I put my phone on the charger to hold it by the plug for the phone. Well i did that and it know does not work again. I will attempt to get another free one from apple mainly because the knock one i have bought will only work for a very short time before the error message shows up on my screen. Apple you need to get a handle on this immediately. if i am going to pay $20 for a cable it should be almost indestructible.

    ABSOLUTE CRAP-BREAKS

    • Written by from Leek

I have had 5 so far, and all of them have broken. On 3, the plastic has split, and the wires broken, effectively splitting in half. On the other 2, the cables have just stopped working. Apple, please go back to the 30pin, it's a lot more practical and reliable.

I am now on my 4th cord in 6 months. I thought it was just my kids not taking care of these, but apparently this is a common problem. Very disappointed in the quality. Should not have to buy a new cable every few months!

Poor quality! After a while the cable breaks where you connect it to the iphone. This has happened twice to me already and several friends have had the same issue. the overall rating of the cable speaks on its own. Inexcusable for a premium brand like apple.

    Poor Quality

    • Written by from Lemoore

There is no way to avoid the cable from breaking. It has a weak point at the end of the charger on the lightning connector end. Every time you disconnect the charger you strain the wires inside by tugging on them a little bit. This causes the shielding and wire to tear over time. Sometimes as quick as a month. There is really no way around this because there are no alternative chargers. Having an apple products means having to buy a new charging cable 1-2 times a year. Way to go apple, can't even make a simple cable...

    Designed to fail

    • Written by from West Linton

As is clear from other reviews, as well as my own personal experience, this cable will break within a few months. Apple have clearly designed it this way so they can make more money out of their customers on top of their already overpriced products by using cheaply made cables which they are selling at a high price. Then to add insult to injury, they add a chip so you can't use third party cables - no other company has such poor ethics. Yes, there may be hacks to prolong the life of the cable, but that should be down to apple, not the end user.

I hate 3.5 ft length of lightning cable. Come on apple, you can at least provide 6 ft cable with apple products. 3.5 ft is just NOT enough. It is also of not good quality. My cable is frayed from lightning end already.

    Lighting cord FAILURE...NO STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Dorchester

I'd like to say this product gets NO STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I currently have iP5, iPad retna, iPad mini. I have had to replace the lightning cords to these at least once a month. My son goes through at least one every two weeks. We now have NO WORKING lightning cords. Why do we have to keep replacing them? I examined each one and they look intact. I have to wiggle and jiggle the cords to get them to work until eventually they just stop. I can't begin to tell you how much I have spent on cord alone within 1 yr. They are expensive and not worth what you charge. I have purchased cheaper non-apple cords that work, but my devices don't recognize them after a week or so. Please fix this problem.

Thank you, Sincerely a VERY T'D OFF LOYAL CUSTOMER

    So upset!

    • Written by from Breaks

I have 2 iPhone 5's an iPad mini, a 5th generation iPod touch, a 1st gen iPad and an iPad 2. Never had a problem with the iPad 1-2 chargers. Still have the original cable that came with my first gen iPad! Guess what!? Every Lightning cable I own is broken. I have one cord that still works if I wiggle right to charge all devices! It's the same problem with them all. The cord is loose around the end where the wires have come out. I am mad! I paid a lot of money on these products, get it together and give us some decent chargers that work!!

If I could give 0 stars I would

    • Written by from Clifton

This charger is an unreliable product. I've had my iPhone 5 since it was released (about a year ago) and I am about to outlive my 4th cable. The product design is faulty to say the least. Expect the wire to begin damaging at about the end of the cable and the beginning of the lighting plug. That has been my problem with the first 3 cables and now my 4th one is breaking by the end of the cable and the usb plug. You spend so much money on a phone you cant even use because the charging cable is constantly breaking. This is not "human error" as I've been told. I would not break 4 cables in less than a year. Apple needs to redesign this product before people begin to believe this is a case of planned obsolescence, unless it is.

    Worst cable on earth

    • Written by from Osijek

White insulation around this cable, like all other cables from Apple, will break with normal use! Material is just horrendous, and if you live in a country without genius bar, Apple will not replace it, you will have to pay for another one.

Paid over 200$ on replacement cables for iPhone and Mac in the past 2 yrs. Extremely disappointed.

For an iPad Mini purchased early October, the charger that came with it stopped working with no visible signs of damage. This was the second of three in the house to die. Moving on to generic 3rd party products at a third the price. Can't last any less time than these...

    Cable stopped charging already

    • Written by from CARSON

The cable that came with my son's iPhone 5 has already stopped charging his phone.

    This is a huge disappointment!

Thank you Apple for giving us such a low quality cable for our iPhone 5's!

Now we have to pay $20 for a replacement low quality cable or gamble with an aftermarket brand!

    - Unsatisfied Customer

p.s. This cable had no physical damage or trauma in appearance. And it was not exposed to outside elements.
