    Very reliable if not abused

    • Written by from Dover

I don't understand all the 1 star reviews about these cables breaking.
I have one in my car that is used multple times a day with my iPhone 5S
I have another near my computer for syncing.
I have a third on the kitchen counter for nightly charging.

No problem with any of them, even after 1-1/2 years of use.

    Very Great Charger

    • Written by from New Braunfels

I don't see why people have problems with their chargers becoming "scrunched," because I don't. I've discovered if you don't have the charger against your chest while plugged into your phone, forcing the weight down on it, it doesn't "scrunch." A company like Apple does not make a cheap charger. What matters is taking great care of your things and they will last. I've had the same iPad lightning charger that came in the box for almost a year now and the only thing wrong with it is the discoloration from dirt it has gathered. These are great chargers to have and I'm glad I have two.

    Great cable.

    • Written by from Calgary

Apple cables are well designed for normal use. I'm baffled as to why so many people have trouble with cables falling apart. I'm been using apple cables for close to ten years and I have not once had one fail. I still have my original 30 pin cable that I got with my first iPod, it still works with my iPad2.

The new Lightning connector is a huge improvement over the 30 pin connector. Use your cable wisely (pull on the connector, not the cable) and you won't have any trouble with it. I'll only buy Apple cables, they last years with normal daily use.

Haven't had a problem with mine!

I'm starting to order if there is 1500 paid Samsung "fake posters" out there.

In our house we have an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 2 iPad Minis, and an iPad Air 2 all bought back in the fall when they released the new products. He cords that came with our devices all still work fine, wih no visible signs of damage. Also in both my wife and my car we have dual use chargers with two lighting cables from when we had our iPhone 5s, those cables are two years old and they work just fine as well.

Better than 3rd party Lightning Cables

    • Written by from Newton

We've probably got a dozen of these laying around the house & cars, we've never had one fail yet since their introduction a couple of years ago. No complaints, except maybe the price....

    Think people... think

    • Written by from Scottsdale

Those of you complaining how this cable does not last are such idiots. One 1.5 inch long, $0.0002 piece of Heat Shrink over the Lightning plug end and my cables last for years. My biggest challenge is preventing my kids from losing them, not dealing with the construction of the cable. Should I have to reinforce the cable I just spent $19 on? No. Of course not. But a fraction of a penny and exactly 45 seconds and my cables last forever. Think people.

    Perfect in every way

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

I am astounded at all the bad reviews for this cable. I have several and have absolutely NO problems with them ever. They just work. I have no idea what these folks do with the cable to make it fail, but I am a normal traveler with multiple iOS devices and a MBP, using my devices constantly all day and in all sorts of situations. I always treat my accessories with the same care I treat my devices: no fraying or kinking of the cable has ever occurred. Great connections every time. And, because it comes from Apple, I know the connector is safe. End of Story.

I don't entirely understand the issue everyone is having

    • Written by from DENVER

I am not saying the cord is great quality, but I have never had an issue with Apple cables/chargers, whereas almost everyone I know does. I, however, treat most anything I own well enough for it to last a long time.

Dos and Don'ts for any electronic cable whatsoever:

When plugging the Lightning end into Apple product, take 1-2 extra seconds to grasp the plug, not the cord, before pushing it gently but firmly into place.
When unplugging, pull ONLY on the plug.
When wrapping up for transport/storage, wrap carefully in circular shape to allow cable to slightly twist naturally (or whatever natural shape the cable tends to make).

Do not scrunch up cable and toss in purse or pocket. I put mine in my pocket occasionally, just be careful.
Do not yank on cable inches away from the plug to unplug it.
Do your best to avoid ever sharply bending the cable, i.e. sitting or stepping on it.

These couple tips are likely to extend the life of any cable tenfold.

These cables are great and should last a few years in normal service. The trick is to ALWAYS pull the PLUG not the cable.

The Perfect Size for a portable battery charger, Love it!

    • Written by from Southfield

It a great size for using a battery charger. Not many portable chargers have the lightning adapter always have to use your own cord. The length is perfect! Note: Make sure you use the right mAh amp portable charger for your Apple device! :) (all products take different amps.

    Very Reliable, not inexpensive

    • Written by from Palmdale

I have never had an Apple provided cable fail. Not sure what is going on with the cables that are receiving one star. At one point I believed in the rating of products, but not here. Between my wife and I, we have had five iPads, six iPhone and three iPods. All cables (and chargers) still work.

Never had one go bad - Apple is the best quality out there

    • Written by from Haymarket

I only use Apple cables and have never had a cable go bad or kink on any of our multiple iPhones or iPad. If you plug in and remove them while holding the connector without grabbing the cable and yanking it out or stepping or twisting it on a daily basis it will outlast your product.

    • Written by from Martinez

The cable will go for years if you dont throw it around, step on it or otherwise harass the cable. I've had mine ever since the 5 came out, and its not even starting to show signs of fray or damage. Good job, Apple. :)

Never An Issue With This Cable

    • Written by from Holyoke

I have had the same cable since my upgrade to iPhone 5S 2 years ago. The cable and charger came in the box and have never let me down. I am reading through all the negative comments on here and having owned the iPhone 4, iPod, and iPad that all share the same wide pin adapter I think Apple went out of its way with regard to innovation to redesign the housing, motherboard assembly, and all associated peripherals that will run the new equipment with these cables. This cable is not as fragile as its predecessors. We all need to remember that they are not meant to be wrapped around fingers or just yanked out of the sockets or bent at angles that NOTHING should be bent at. My cable is going to last until I ipgrade to the iPhone 6, and then when I hand this phone down to my daughter it will be broken. Do I know why? Yes. Because my daughter is not careful with her electronics, falls asleep with iPad and iPhone in bed and cables bent awkwardly as she sleeps. Do I get mad? No. Why. Because the cable was designed for people to use per the instructions and though I looked, there was no section on protecting a cable from a teenager. Sorry, everyone, but some (not all) of us need to look at what we are asking these cables to do before complaining. Yes, I do understand that manufacturing errors can arise and affect a large amount of material and those need to be dealt with. Giving it 1 star for being too short? Cmon...

    The best connector out there...PERIOD!!

    • Written by from Irvine

Even USB is now copying the Lightning connector. Fantastic design. Have been using mine ever since it was released, how many ever years ago. Works like a charm. Most of the people complaining here have never purchased or used it. They are just hacks from competitors, trying to create a false impression about this product. I would accept reviews only from verified buyers.
