    Easily Damaged

    • Written by from san jose

I was really excited about the new thunderbolt ports for the iphone 5, but at the same time was sad about switching over to a new system. I have had my phone since october/november 2012 today 5-17-2013 my chord is broke (it still works but I must angle it in a certain angle). I wish for apple to make it stronger somehow I really like the design but it is way to easily damageable and will break. Apple's usb chords for the ipod touch, iphone 4 etc....those were pretty darn amazing really tough. I just wish that apple could make it to be stronger, because replacing these things take our our time and money, they are roughly 20 USD so it can get pricy. Just hoping for a better (Stronger).

    I've gone through 4

    • Written by from WENATCHEE

I've gone through four of them. The tips of the lightening cords, where you insert the cord to hook it the phone, are constantly burning out.

They work great for a few weeks and then die.

These new lighting cords are awful.

I have been a apple customer since 2005. I had an iPod, then I got the iPhone when they came out. I never had any problems with the old cords like I do with this new one. I already had 3 of them since I got my iPhone 5 in January (five months ago). There seems to be some type of shortage. My friends have had problems with theirs also. It's best just to get the old one and a converter adaptor.

    Too short

    • Written by from West Kelowna

Haven't had a lick of problems with the cable but seriously why must it be so short, anything less than 6 feet is a pain the but, I use a USB extension with mine, definetly way higher quality then the know off cables. My cable is now 9 months old, no problems

Not The Best Apple Has Offered.

    • Written by from Harrisonburg

This is probably one of the worst cables apple has made. I treat my sync cables like they are a god, and none of my past cables have ever gone bad. The lighting cable is terrible, I have been through 2 of them in the 4 months of owning my iPhone 5.

I'm not sure how most people are doing with this cable but it isn't the best.

    • Written by from Port chester

I've had the iphone 5 for 6 months already, & the charging cable has been the worst so far! I have went through 4 different cables already, and they all give me the same problem.. It charges and all of a sudden it doesn't charge! I wish we could easily return them back to the store & get a different one. Those cables aren't cheap !!!!

    Expensive, proprietary, cheaply made, short.

    • Written by from Redondo beach

Apple for the love of god, make these things longer! I have to hang off my bed just to check my phone because my power outlet is 2 feet from me! I bought a USB extension cable and it's intermittent functionality. It will say almost every time "this device doesn't work with your iphone". How the heck are you going to charge $19 for a short cable, that breaks at the plug on the phone side showing wires after 2 months, not allow other manufactures to make reliable versions, and make them so dang short? What is going on in your product development meetings that you say "no! we will not give them more length! AND YES we will charge like we do!"

Mine only lasted 4 months. 4 FREAKING MONTHS! Now we have to drive 30 mins. to the nearest Apple store to get a new one. I'm lucky I bought the coverage plan.

    One size fits none

    • Written by from Fredericksburg

In my opinion, too long to use in the car for charging. It is definitely too short to use connected to a wall outlet with an iPad or iPhone on the desk, unless you like the iPad flush against the wall. It barely makes it up onto the desk. The only application where this works is when you have a computer (on your desk, such as a laptop) that supplies a nearby port. Otherwise, plan on buying either USB extenders, or placing a power supply on top of your desk, or moving your desktop workstation ontop of the desk. The old 30-pin came in a much shorter and a longer variety, which were suitable for different tasks. This one is definitely "one size fits none."

    Absolute JOKE

    • Written by from Hammond

I've had this cord for about four months and the lightning end of the cord came loose and won't charge my phone. It's a shame the 30-pin connecters would last 4 years, not 4 months.

This cable works fine for only 6 months. Then the connection was failing and I had to buy a new one.

    Grrrrr

    • Written by from Houston

I've owned many cables for iphones, ipods, Macs for years and never experienced any problems with them. Now, I've had 2...TWO of these Lightning to USB cables go bad. They both cause connection issues. I am replacing them today and hoping they will be of the quality I have come to expect from Apple products.

    Cord lasted 4 months!

    • Written by from Boston

I bought 3 of these cords and 2 of them stopped working after 4 months! For $19 a pop they should work a lifetime!

I have an old ipod cord from 2005 that still works.... what happened to the quality on the new iphone cords?

    Not happy.

    I Hate This Charger!

    • Written by from Salisbury

Many of my friends chargers have already broken, and mine has also. Its extremely inconvenient because all my other apple products require the other charger, and then my iPad mini has the lightning charger.

    Very Dissapointed.

    • Written by from Cleveland

I have had my iPhone 5 for about 3 months now and I'm already having to buy a 3rd charger. They seem to break so easily, I thought I was the only one having this problem but I guess not. It just seems so delicate. I think they should have stuck with the old charger for sure.

    Been through many

    • Written by from New albany

I've had my Iphone 5 for about 5 months and been through about 5 chargers. I don't know if any of the other generation pods/pads that use the same one has this problem. It just doesn't last. Not a reliable product thus far. Love the phone, wish they would have kept the same multi purpose charging method of old.

    Cable Quality is very disappointing

    • Written by from huntington park

I thought I was the only one with this problem. I can't believe the cable is such a problem. I can't even use my ipod since I can't charge at all. It won't charge and it won't connect to the computer. I am ordering a new one today and have only had my ipod 5 for 5 months. I never had this problem with the old cables.
