    Lightning usb cable

    • Written by from Lake Charles

I love the new charger how ever once con to it is I've had the cable for 3 months and I had to replace it already because the wire disconnected from the part that actually fits into my phone so if they could make a stronger cable or something that would be great

    Works, but shortly after fails.

    • Written by from Rochester

I got my iPhone 5 on release day, and it came with the lightning cable..
Soon after the initial few weeks of using the cable, it began to fail, forcing me to purchase a new cable, which just today has failed.
I am for the first time disappointed in an apple branded product.
Apple needs to remedy this with a recall.

After 4 months say goodbye to your charger...

    • Written by from Denver

You gotta end up bendin the cord several ways just to get the dang thing to charge after about 4 months. I wish I never upgraded to the 5. What a terrible decision. And I'm sorry but it ain't worth 21$ dollars, if it breaks after 3-4 months. Change the price and fix this apple, you call yourselves a top company? Right...if I were a new customer, or repeat customer, buy multiple chargers or you're basically s.o.l.

    Terrible!!

    • Written by from St. Catharines

I purchased my iPhone 5 the day it came out and I'm already on my third cable. When it starts to go the cable has to be bent in crazy ways just to get the phone to charge and eventually stops charging all together. I never had any problems with the old charges for iPhone and iPod I have tons around my house that still work from 5-10 years ago. Clearly people are having problems with the lightning cable so I'm not sure why apple hasn't made any changes to the design. It's awful ! :(

    Lightning to USB Cable

    • Written by from SAINT JOSEPH

I prefer the smaller foot print of the new lightning connector as compared to the 30 pin connecter.... I like the positive connection and the fact that it’s universal so there is no right or wrong way to plug it in. However, there is a huge, huge, huge flaw with this design. With the 30 pin connector, you could grasp the connecter itself to disconnect the device. With the new lightning connector, it is so tiny, that you have almost no option but to pull the cable to disconnect the connector, especially if you use a protective case. So that being said, try as I might to be careful as possible, I am on my 4th lightning cable in as many months... They simply pull apart, and at $19.00 a pop the problem is adding up quickly.

I wish there was another option!

    • Written by from SAINT PAUL

I love the new design concept since plugging the old style ones in wasn't near as simple, but they are flimsy as heck! I have had every iPhone from the very beginning and every time I upgraded I just left the new cable in the box because I already had one. The only time I used a new one was when my dog chewed it in half! So thats 2 cables over many of years. With this cable I have already been through 6 since I got my phone in september! They have all done the same thing; first it just seems to have a bad connection or be shorting out but the cable looks intact and then within a day of that starting a hole or open area appears under where it connects to the phone. Please apple FIX this or give us another option because I can not continue paying 20$ for a new phone charger every couple of weeks!

    Terrible

    • Written by from Wilkes Barre

Has apple realized how TERRIBLE these are yet?! They break so easily! right underneath the plug into the phone the cord breaks and stops charging the phone I haven't had the 5 very long, obviously, but I've gone through about 5 cords. That's almost $100 in chargers. Disgusting!

    No problem but possible alternative

    • Written by from Martinez

Haven't had a problem as many described. But there is an alternative if you have a micro USB adapter. It is called "Apple Lightning to Micro USB Adapter". Going to pick up one since I have a few of the micro USB adapters from my android days. Need as a possible spare

    Awful

Bought iPhone5 in AppStore in Switzerland. Brand new cable worked poorly then died completely. Look at Apple tech forum how many people complaining of faulty OTB cable. Never gonna buy anything from Apple again!

    Horrible

    • Written by from Kent

I recieved my iPod 5th generation for Christmas. Everything was fine until February when my charger slowly stopped working over a duration of three days.
I bought a new one thinking it was just a faulty cord, now this cord has completely stopped working. I am so dissapointed in this product.
I love the design. The length could be longer, but it is nice. I wish that Apple wouldn't have focused so much on the design and worried about the functionality of the product.

    Works but Terrible Design

    • Written by from Lansdale

The cable works, and mine has not failed or fallen apart yet. That said, it stays on my desk most of the time and doesn't get heavy use. The design is terrible with regard to ergonomics. The USB end is small and rectangular with sharp corners, and made of slippery plastic. The combination of shape and material makes it very difficult to grip when unplugging. Whoever thought it was a good idea for something meant to be manipulated by a human hand to have sharp corners and no gripping surface should take a pay cut. Please redesign this cable to be more functional and less "hip design." It's a cable, it doesn't need to be a fashion statement.
