    Cable too thin

    • Written by from Hopewell Junction

The cable has ripped and the shielding is showing in less than 6 months on my Daughters MAC Book Air. I need to replace it but based on all the reviews I am reading I hope there is an alternative.

APPLE please get your act together and produce better cables.

Whoever is in charge of this department please listen to the reviews and fix this problem.

    Thank you

    Dreadful

    • Written by from Keller

How is it Apple can create such wondrous electronics, but their chords are inexcusably faulty. Seriously. Build a better chord. They all seem to fall apart at the junctions. It's frustrating and disconcerting that there are so many (bad) reviews and yet Apple does nothing to remedy. I've had three separate chords, the magsafe power chord is the latest, to have the same problem, in the same location.

    Is It Designed To Break?

    • Written by from Park City

I had the charger that came with my MacBook Air for about 3 months before the cable frayed to the point where the plastic sheathing came off. Before this happened, the charger performed adequately enough. Now, it doesn't even work because the cable snapped. It is almost as if Apple is designing its products to fail.

    Terrible!

    • Written by from Norman

I was excited to get my MacBook Air when the new models came out this year, but VERY disappointed in the power adapter. It won't stay connected because the magnet isn't strong enough. I want a FREE, REDESIGNED power adapter to replace the one that came with my laptop!

Broke in less than a month!

    • Written by from Wells

I bought an extra power adapter for my air to use in a different location, and it's not working only a month later. I am totally disgusted. If there were anything else there I could use, I would. It's a disgrace that Apple won't stand behind this product. To make matters worse, the original adapter that cam with the Air is also kaput. I'm furious I have to spend $150 to replace products they ought to replace or repair for free. Shame on you, Apple!

    Awful, Awful, Awful

    • Written by from Harpers Ferry

Of all the terrible, flimsy, overpriced chargers required by Apple products, this one is the worst. We own iPhones 4 and 5 (with chargers that fray from normal use) and a MacBook Pro (wIth a charger that shorted out twice and had to be replaced).

But the charger for my MacBook Air is by far the worst, as it detaches with the slightest movement. If I use my laptop in a drafty room, if I hold it on my lap and wiggle a toe, if the computer is on a table and someone walks across the room - it detaches. The magnet seems strong, but it's shockingly too lightweight to actually charge the laptop consistently. Apple, can this truly not be improved? I hope it isn't a sign of things to come for Mac products: "Almost great. . . but not quite."

Worst charger I've ever used in my entire life

    • Written by from McKinney

I don't know where to start with how much I hate this charger. Its to the point now, that I consider using my older macbook in order to avoid using this charger. Its absolutely useless. Not only does it CONSTANTLY fall out, with the slightest touch, but 40% of the time won't charge my battery at all. It just sits in there with no LED light on, and will randomly, at its own choosing, come back on and start charging my laptop. This is not a charger that should come with a $1200 computer, I love Apple for their quality products, but this is a complete JOKE.

3 months in, had shell of charger heating to 133 F

    • Written by from Dallas

One month in I noted my charger was very hot when charging my new MBA from 22%. battery.
Measured the outside temp of charger at 133F with a decent IR thermometer.
computer checked out at store and charger replaced under warrantee
Computer was charging properly and not overheating or with excess fan
New charger appears to not get anywhere near as warm, but will watch it

    ?!
Ths is not a good thing

making Applecare look like an even better bargain, which it shouldn't be.

    Horrible

    • Written by from Edmonton

This is the worst design ever, and so cheap looking and fell. I hated this design because they only do this with no right angle design which make it fall way easier than the one with the right angle design. the other adapter with the right angle design fits different sitting position and doesn't get loss as easy, also keep the write life longer because u don't have to bend it. it started to show wear and tear way early and for some reason doesn't seam to be good quality as Apple products use to be.

Frayed in less than a year!

    • Written by from Spencer

I am extremely careful with my laptop and all gadgets and did not expect an apple product to fall apart so soon. The cord is frayed near where it attaches to the adapter. I do not roll the cord around the adaptor precisely to avoid this from happening. I dont understand how apple can manufacture something so carelessly. This is a prime candidate for a product recall in the near future. Very unhappy that I have to shell another 80 bucks for this badly designed product. Shame on you, Apple!

    Awful design!!

    • Written by from London

I am so irritated by this bad design.
You cannot lie on your left side in bed (you could before the design change), and it falls out at the slightest touch or movement.
It's hard to believe something so badly designed came from Apple.
I tried to give it no stars but they won't let me!

No better than other Mac chargers

    • Written by from Awendaw

I have a MacBookPro and this is my second Macbook Air . The chargers just don't last more than a few months and they cost $79 plus tax to replace .What a rip off !

They also include the thick ,longer extension ,in the replacement ,even though it's the shorter ,narrow charger that has issues and needs to be replaced. Maybe if they sold it separately it wouldn't cost as much.

I've had to replace at least 5 Macbook chargers and multiple chargers for our iPads ,iPhones and iPods. Is it really that hard to come up with something that will last for awhile? My husband refuses to buy any more Apple products for just this reason.

The weakness seems to be in the first inch or two just off the magnetic connection to the computer .It tends to bend there and many of my chargers have split at that bend close to the computer . Not all the broken chargers showed a split. The wiring is weak .For awhile you can jiggle it around and get it to work ,but that doesn't last long.

Hard to argue with my husband when my Apple laptop charger has to be replaced every few months ,while his charger is the original he got with his laptop( not Apple) ,years ago.

    missing old design

    • Written by from Austin

I upgraded to a new Airbook this winter and hate the new power cord. I teach and am on-line a ton. I grade many nights from my chair (Airbook in my lap) and the cord disconnects far too easily. An annoyance at best. Bring back the old design.

    MacBook Air 45W charger

    • Written by from Atlanta

Ugh! Clunky to carry around, magnetic connection OK but definitely drops of easily. Bus MOST frustrating is the fact that the corner piece with the 2-prong outlet connection falls off all too easily, so easily that I lost it within a few days. Come on Apple, you can do better!
