    Hate it...

The design is so bad that it falls out all the time... Like 30 times a day.... So frustrating and a big step back from the old version...

    Same experience!! Terrible!

    • Written by from KENNEBUNK

Dead, after 8 months. I can get it to work 10% of the time by "playing" with it, but most of the time it's not worth the trouble! This is a POS like I didn't know Apple was capable of.

    Shanty adapter

    • Written by from Overland park

I understand that the point of the magnetic charger is supposed to be for easier removal, but I would much rather have a charger that actually stays put when I move around with my computer. I also really dislike how thin the wire covering is for the adapter; the casing for the wires ripped so easily (along with the wires), and now I have to buy an $80 replacement for a charger that will most likely rip again in the next few months. Please find a way to make a more durable power adapter. If you are going to charge us $80 for a replacement, at least make one that is worth the $80.

    MagSafe 1 Please

    • Written by from Orlando

MagSafe 2 is the biggest piece of junk. It basically turns my MacBook Air, an actual laptop in the truest spirit, into something I absolutely can not use on my lap. I can not use it on my lap because the power cable is infuriatingly easy to pop free. I suppose I could close my legs a bit so that the laptop can rest a bit better and not have my thigh pop the magnetic connector free, but I'm a guy and that isn't always comfortable. Come on Apple, give us a low profile right angle connector like MagSafe 1. That way you can just leave the jack and reengineer the plug.

    Complete Crapp

    • Written by from Catonsville

This will be the last Macbook I ever buy. This charger is unusable and the cord has frayed within one year. It constantly falls out of the magnetic connector and the cord is of poor quality. Good thing Apple only charges $75 and forces you to replace the entire adapter rather than just the cord that attaches to the computer. Utter garbage. Back to Windows!

The most terrible design I've ever seen!

    • Written by from Royal Oak

I gave this a one only because some rating is required. If I could give it a negative 10 I would. I was so excited to get my new 2013 Air but I wasn't aware that Apple had redesigned the power cord. I am so seriously disappointed with this design, I wish my old one had more memory because I think I would return the 2013 Air just based on this.

Why would Apple take such a brilliant design and replace it with this eyesore that doesn't even stay in when you actually try to work with it on your lap! "Lap top"... Hello?

And the folks that are saying they love theirs DO NOT have the new design! I love the old design too!

Apple? Anyone out there listening? Apparently not since they didn't change it for the 2013 after so many complained after the 2012! This makes using the Air such a disappointment. Ugh!

No one expects to have to buy a new power adapter for your computer.....if you are using your mac book as a portable computer then expect to have to buy a new adapter at $75+. Worst product I have come across with the Apple logo on it. But really what are your choices??

TERRIBLE design -- PLEASE REPLACE ...!

    • Written by from Miami

oddly comforting to know I am not alone ...
came here looking for a replacement because the power adapter that came with my new MBA is a nightmare and for all the reasons so well articulated in the earlier reviews. it is so annoying not to be able to use the old adapter that came on my older MBA -- the one that was beautiful and worked so well. apparently, the power adapter itself is compatible ... only the connector design changed, presumably in a cheap and annoying move to increase sales of accessories. frustrating to be nickel/dime'd by Apple this way -- this small change was probably relatively inexpensive to effect (in hopes of smart returns) but is causing nothing but grief. heading to Apple Store today in hopes of finding someone who will resolve the problem.

    Compact and light weight

    • Written by from Anchorage

The 45W MagSafe 2 adapter was included with my new Macbook Air notebook PC. Definitely a huge improvement over the brick which accompanied my former brand X Windows notebook. The powerful attachment magnet holds the charge cord firmly in place. No complaint. The flip out ears used to store the charge cord function well but durability remains to be seen. Deduct a star because the AC power cord seems much to brawny and unwieldy for the task at hand. The addition of a USB charge port could be very useful at times for charging cell phones and the like.

    Horrible Product

    • Written by from Galt

This charger stopped wiring after a few months. It became frayed, works sporadically, and it has even sparked a couple of times although it has been very well taken care of. Completely disappointed with Apple, as this charger has become basically a fire hazard.

    A step backwards

    • Written by from SAN JOSE

The previous connecter was sleek and didn't get in the way. Why would apple go back to the protruding style? The wire sticks out, looks messy, comes off at the slightest provocation. Please get the older style connector back.

    Terribly designed cord.

    • Written by from Joensuu

I've had my MacBook Air for 14 months now. I love my MacBook, it's so superior in design. Almost everything is VERY well designed, better than "industry standard" so far.

And then there's this terribly designed power adapter. The cord of this Power Adapter broke while using it correctly, wrapping it on the holders on the side. The cord was worn out. The cord didn't last it's intended usage for more than 14 months. This is unbelievable, when you realise this is an Apple product, where INTENDED usage should be very well designed.

Now my earlier apple-fanboyism has died. Completely. Now when I HAVE to buy new adapter with very same faulty design to keep on using my (otherwise very good) MacBook Air. I'm really, really not-looking-forward-to-this, because I know even my new cord WILL break, as the design is faulty. The cord will break every time, when there's the angle.

And what has industry done with cords that need to be need to be bend over an angle? Every other cord, every reasonable priced earphones, basically every other company has used a design that prevents cords from turning too much and wearing out. Not Apple, no. Every cord, even my 20 euros speakers have it, the thicker part in the cord that prevents the cord turning too much. My kitchen equipment power cords have it. No matter how UNINTENDED will you turn, the cord will last. But not this cord. This cord doesn't last it's INTENDED use, because the cord has to be turned to too sharp angle touching the shard edge of the cord itself!! Basicall the cord cuts itself and wears off. While breaking (and I guarantee you, it will break), this cord short circuiting may cause electrical problems to your MacBook Air and might indeed break your MacBook Air.

In summary: this is an overpriced, faulty product. However, if you need this Power Adapter, you are going to have to use it. I'd suggest buying 2-3 at once, as you will need more than one. Alternatively, you might want to add some twisting-turning-protection-stuff there on the problem area in the thinner cord (next to the adapter itself) to prevent the cord from breaking.

    Hate the MagSafe 2

    • Written by from Mandeville

This is by far the worst laptop charger I've owned. When its charging the slightest flinch and the cord is out. The only thing is that you can't pull it straight out but allow it to turn in any angle even a little and its out.

I hate this charger I hope they make a new design for the MacBooks with this charger so i can buy something better.

Tiny but wire split way too soon with no reason

    • Written by from NASHUA

This was great until I had it for a few months. It gets kinks way too easily and is not splitting at a place not of particularly high stress. I'm quite cautious with this cord as I've had to pay to replace one in the past (and the cost is really lame).

I pay thousands for superior products, please start providing them again. We all know you have the margin.

    really close to perfection!

    • Written by from GRAND-MERE

awesome quality as usual, it looks way better than the angled one from last year too!
The only problem I can see (which gets a little bit annoying) is the fact that the connector is kinda long so it doesn't need much force to disconnect it when pressing up or down on the cable (which happens quite often in certain position if you have the computer on your lap). the angled one from last year never did that! but it's a really minor problem and I still rate 5* cause it's awesome and the quality is there!
