    Worst Plug In-DO NOT BUY

    • Written by from woodbury

This is the worst plug in. I slightly move my computer and the whole thing comes unplugged. I just read a review where somebody stated that this charger controls them, and I completely agree. I have to constantly worry about the charger staying in. I had an old macbook 13 in., and that charger/magnet was great!!! It would stay plugged in when it need to, but unplugged if I tripped on it or something. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

MagSafe 2 Adapter stopped working suddenly

    • Written by from Lowell

I have MBP Retina display (1-month old) and today I observed that its MagSafe 2 Power adapter stopped working suddenly. No orange/green lights. Tried changing power outlets but still no success. Luckily I had bought a spare one too. So currently using it for charging. But its really disappointing that within 1 month power adapter would die. Not a good sign Apple.

Just purchased a retina macbook and this is the only thing i cannot stand! I suppose it would work ok if the macbook is permanently sitting on a table. Every time i move the macbook it falls out, It is the weakest adapter i have come across. I had the L shaped one on my old macbook and had zero issues with it!

This is my 2nd macbook pro and by far this is the worst adapter. I had my old adapter on my 09 mbp and the adapter worked perfectly for 4 years. But I this adapter is awful. After having the computer for only a year the cord is frayed and the magnet is week. I am hoping that there is a recal or something on these so i can get a new one.

Trying to charge my new 15" retina display all day and it's still at 50%. Why? Because the charger keeps popping out and I don't notice. It doesn't even sit in the spot. The magnet is so week it starts slipping off as soon as you try to attach it. Ridiculous. If I could rate no stars I would.

Like other recent apple chargers this one wears very quickly. I haven't had it for a year (as the computer and thus charger hasn't been around too long) and it's already wearing down. Some of the wires on the inside are now exposed and I'm afraid that I'll have to buy a new one soon. Another problem is that apple prices their chargers so high. There is no way the charger should be priced at 80$.

    L Shaped charger doesnt last!

Im in a family of apple all mac book pros. the t shape lasts, and l made it two years, of very gentle handling and it already has a short right where the wire connects to the L. I wish some one would come out with a charger that would last and take a beating like the product its self, you think 2 grand would give you quality. especially for an $80 piece that is just semi essential.

I have had 3 chargers like this one now and all have broken from the little wire that goes into the box part of the charger. Being that Apple is one of the most expensive and top producers for gadgets to get online you think they would make a better quality charger where the wire is more sturdy and holds up longer. I am very disappointed at the fact that this is the third charger I have bought and it keeps breaking in the same spot. I am very unhappy with it and the price to get a new one is absolutely ridiculous when I know that it will happen again. Either one make the tiny cord as durable as the thicker cord on the other end of the charger or make this charger cheaper because this is ridiculous that no matter what this faulty charger is going to keep breaking and I will have to get a new one at the high price of $80.

I love my macbook, but absolutely HATE this new magsafe adapter. It constantly pops out whenever the laptop is moved and it sticks out way too far. The older generation one was perfect. Hopefully they move back to the older generation one next year.

I much prefer the older MagSafe power cord. The one that came with my new MBPr pops out far too easily. I regularly find my battery almost depleted because the cord came out without my knowing.

    Worst Charger Ever

    • Written by from Vancouver

5 of 8 people found this useful

As many reviewers have mentioned, the magnet connection of this charger is absolutely despicable. After forking out $2.5k for a laptop, you expect the charger to at least stay plugged without falling out. A change needs to be made back to the L-Shaped connectors, as soon as possible. I currently have to significantly alter how I use my laptop, in an attempt to sit such that my charger will stay plugged in for more than ten seconds at a time. The only redeeming factor of this charger is that it charges so fast I don't have to use it often. If it took as long to charge as the older models, I don't think I could stand using this laptop at all.

PLEASE MAKE AN ALTERNATIVE CHARGER SIMILAR TO THE LAST MAGSAFE

Its amazing how happy I am with everything about my new Retina 15", yet how disappointed I am with the charger. It is so inferior to the previous version, it boggles me why you would feel comfortable including this with your new product. It puts SO many limitations on the usage of my macbook pro. Without a full charge, the computer is almost useless in bed or on the couch. In some ways, it is impossible to position the computer and charge at the same time. In others ways, the charger simply wont stay in unless I perfectly still and keep an eye on it at all times. I had NONE of these issues with the previous magsafe charger. PLEASE offer a version similar to that one for the Retina macbook pros.

Apple, I beg you to please make a new L shaped MagSafe 2 with a better magnet. I use my rMBP exclusively on the couch and this new T shaped cord falls out constantly. I hate it. The power cord is ruining my experience with an otherwise perfect computer.

the charger pops out at the slightest touch. i'm home rehabbing from surgery and stuck in bed and the charger that was once a little annoying is now extremely annoying. in addition to the weak magnet, you can't put the computer on its left side without losing the charger. please make it stronger or have the L as an option

    MagSafe 2(Poo)

I've only had my MBPR 15" for a couple weeks now and I have already knocked it off of my bed twice because I tripped on the MagSafe cord and it yanked the MBPR off of the bed and onto the floor, and it wasn't on the edge of the bed it was at least a foot and a half away from the edge of the bed.

This is a $3000 computer and has a huge design flaw in my opinion. My previous MBP with the original MagSafe adapter never had any issues, and I tripped on it countless times!

To top it off when I'm charging on my lap the slightest little bump knocks it off, but when you pull straight out on the cord the magnet has amazing force. I think this is because of the new thinner design.

Apple, listen up, your obsession with thin has gone too far and made a great invention terrible. The market has moved on, we don't care about thin anymore. We want products that work! You know the way you use to make products!

Cant believe Apple would ship out a product like this! I feel like the adapter owns and controls me. I have to constantly conscious of how I'm sitting, where the cables located, and the movements i make. Absolutely ridiculous! Fix this, i didn't pay a premium for shiny..

    Magnet won't stay put...lousy design

I am extremely disappointed with the new charger for the macbook pro retina. The magnet is weak and unless you put the laptop on a hard surface and don't touch it, it pops out constantly. It is too thin and the slightest movement (even if I just switch positions in my lap it pops out) causes it to fall out. What is worse is that it is so light and flimsy, you don't even realize it has popped out...there is no sound like on the iphone and/or ipad. Apple really needs to rethink the design and implement some changes. For how much I spent on this laptop, I'm not a happy camper that the very thing that gives it power, doesn't work properly. Far too expensive to have such a simple problem.

Apple fixed something that wasn't broken - and made it worse

    • Written by from FAYETTEVILLE

I can't believe they actually paid an entire team of engineers for more than a year to redesign the power connector on the MacBook Pro - and they blew it. They've got this so messed up it's unusable. Apple's new design is fragile, with just a slight weight of the cable itself will pull the plug out from the computer. We've got a $4500 Retina, and we have to duct-tape the power supply to the computer. If we don't glue it on, we look up to see the machine's battery surprisingly gone dead with the cord on the floor. Ridiculous.

I hear Kensington is about to release a power supply with a "new" size, but with the old "L" shaped fitting that worked for 10 years (that actually stays put and doesn't fall out).

We didn't NEED a new size. We didn't NEED a new connector. We didn't NEED to replace the "L" connector. It was all fine, Apple. Talk about missing Steve -
