    Stopped working

    • Written by from Tomsk

Stopped charging my MacBook Pro within 5 month of use. Nothing happens when I plug it in, the lindicator doesn't light up either. Really dissapointed, things like that shouldn't happen when you buy a 2000 $ laptop.

Worst magsafe adapter I've ever used

    • Written by from Newmarket

I've used many magsafe adapters, and never before had the problem of the cable detaching. This one falls off almost every time I move my Macbook Pro. At first I thought it must be catching on something, but I eliminated that possibility and through experimentation found that the cable simply detaches when the computer's moved — even when it's moved gently.

It's incredibly annoying to have to keep reaching down to the floor to plug my computer back in. And then to have to do the same 30 seconds later. At this point I feel like returning the entire computer.

    Absolutely horrible

    • Written by from Montreal

By far the worst apple product I have ever owned, and I own quite a few. The original Magsafe (barrel type) charger was an improvement over the square type, and now they have gone back and made it even worst! I can't even begin to count how many times the charger has disconnected itself while charging because it simply doesn't stay connected.

I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Magnet Too Weak (to say the least)

    • Written by from Lansing

Like most others have said, just a poorly designed product. The cable will attach if you so much as breathe on it. The engineers must have barely tested this, I can't imagine what they were thinking.

    Horrible

    • Written by from Bryn Mawr

This is the worst power adapter you can possibly have. If you've ever used a Dell, HP, or any other laptop brand (including Apple), you know how bad this is.

-Magnet is extremely weak. Moving the laptop around a little bit will cause detachment.
-Connector gets too hot; unsafe to touch actually under strenuous loads.
-Occasionally fails in general. My MacBook had to sent for repair since the Magsafe board stopped working.

    Fire Hazard

    • Written by from Puyallup

I have had my 15" Retina for less than a year. As others have mentioned, I noticed the cord being hot to the touch but thought not much about it. This afternoon, I noticed that my cord was intermittently shutting off, though it was securely fastened to my device. When I inspected the cord itself, I found that the small cord had fused and melted completely through the rubber coating and was actively sparking on the carpet.

This cable is a significant fire hazard, and with a house full of both Apple devices and children, it makes me less than comfortable to have them plugged in overnight. Apple should definitely have a recall (or at the very least a replacement) for this product.

    Bad charger connection

    • Written by from Travers city

After only 3 months of use. The charger now falls out when resting on a desk and charging. The magnet cannot support the weight of the cord. I have to jiggle the the connector around for it to make a proper connection. I'm afraid this action will lead to a poorer and poorer connection because the connector does not fit as tightly as it first did. I hope I can still charge my computer a year from now. I otherwise live the computer but if I can't charge it what is the point. When I first bought it the connector was very difficult to pull out. Now that gravity is pulling it down and out I wonder if the problem is the type of metal the computer is made of. It seems to me the part where the connector goes in is looser and this is causing the problem. The magnet required a bit of a tug to remove in the beginning and this may have caused damage over time.

    poor design

    • Written by from Tulsa

Same experience as most of the other commenters. disconnects much too easily. sticks out to the side instead of towards the back. can't use the LAPtop on my LAP and expect to charge it at the same time. must set it still on a desk to charge, otherwise I am constantly reconnecting it. If the resultant multiple short charge cycles kill my battery, I'll be expecting Apple to replace the battery for free.

    Terrible profile

    • Written by from Shawnee

I hate that this new power adapter sticks out so far from the side of the MacBook Pro. I hate that I can't lean it on its side without the power adapter falling out. I liked the first magsafe because it was more flush and didn't come out as easy when you leaned the laptop on its side. COME ON APPLE! WHY ARE YOU RUINING A GREAT DESIGN!

Terrible design with even worse build quality

    • Written by from Bradenton

COME ON APPLE!!! You are better than this. Is not comfortable to have computer plugging and use it in your lap. Your legs will constantly unplug the power supply. How does one create such an amazing machine as the MBP with Retina and totally miss the mark on the power adapter? Create one with the durability to last and the ability to use in your LAP, which is the point of a notebook is it not?

Idea: finish, patent, and release, wireless charging....PLEASE!!!!!

    This thing is a ripoff

    • Written by from Huntingdon Valley

First of all let's just say this is my third time buying a replacement T charger. The T charger is unebelievably weak. It constantly falls out as opposed to my girlfriends L charger which I never had problems with. Yeah yeah I get it, "let's make it look COOL and SLEAK!"....well I got news for ya, Apple sacrificed quality for a better look. This thing is a failure. Let's not forget to mention their super high tech cables that cracked open all 3 times now.

    Disconnects too easily

    • Written by from Fort Mill

This things absolutely blows. Not sure who designed it but it's not practical at all for laptops. It comes easily disconnected with barely any effort at the magnet side when my Macbook Pro Retina is sitting on my lap. The former 90 degree Magsafe power adapter stay connected so much better, even with bumps and moving around.

APPLE, PLEASE REDESIGN or use a FORMER DESIGN THAT WORKED!

Common problem with charger. 4/4 for 3 dffrnt. people had same problem

    • Written by from New York

My second charger just had the same problem as the first. The thiner corder leaving the charger gets worn out quickly. When I got the second one, I even put electrical tape around as a preventivie measure but it just lasted a 5 months. I don't even wrap my cord close to the base, or wrap it that often. The same thing happened to two other people I know.

Strain Relief, Strain Relief, Strain Relief!!!!!!

    • Written by from Littleton

As my 2nd Power Adapter has now failed in EXACTLY the same way as my 1st, I will soon be shelling out ANOTHER $80 for this poorly engineered piece of garbage. What were you thinking Apple? Every time the charger fails due to inadequate stress relief where the cord is connected to the inverter. I store the charger properly by wrapping the cord around the flip-out tabs, NEVER lift the inverter by the cord, and generally treat the whole charger with the loving care I would a new-born infant as I have now spent $160 to keep my $2000 laptop running. Nevertheless, another failure. Your mechanical engineers STINK Apple, and frankly the quality of your products have fallen off SHARPLY since the passing of SJ.

    Similar to other complaints

    • Written by from Kailua Kona

Apple products are among the ones I count on to accomplish the work I do (Graphic Design, Film Editing, and (sadly) Medical Billing/Admin) I've used them for over ten years and have seen many advancements. However, this power cord seems to be a regression.

It is easily bumped out of place and the cord is difficult to manage. The L design was great because it directed the cord to the back or to the front of the computer. This T design makes that difficult. I'm hoping they at least offer an L shape again. I'll buy it!

I've used a laptop with an L charger for years and thought it was the smartest charger ever. Now upgraded to a retina display laptop and have been lumbered with the T charger, it's terrible. All it does is fall out, constantly. How did Apple get it so terribly wrong?!

I would want this fixed! I'm love Apple products, BUT THIS IS LAME to say the least!!! Apple should redesign a plug that stay in there and replace it asap!
