    Works Flawlessly!

I have had this magsafe converter for nearly two years! I never have had a problem with converter. It does its job! I am a developer that uses it almost everyday! No connection issues!

I'm must be missing something here with MS2???

    • Written by from Kanpur

With my old Mac Book Air, I had the "L" shaped MagSafe 1. No worries at all. When I bought the Mac Book Pro (retina) 13.3", it came with Mag Safe 2. Now the "jutting out" design of this interface means that whenever I sit crossed legged on my bed and use my laptop as a LAPTOP should be used (let's go back in history and name Apple notebooks "laBtops", because they could only be used in the LAB), the slightest move in posture dislocates the MS2 from the notebook. WHICH DRUNK IMBECILE WAS CHOSEN to design this in retrograde manner? Can't some things be left alone, as they have neared perfection, as was MS1 in my case. The L shape of the MS 1 made sure that even trying to yank it out wouldn't work. With MS2, a simple move of my thigh, and there we have it, it's lying NEXT to the ProBook, rather than charging it. If Bill Gates made a mistake by stating, "Who would ever need more than 640KB RAM", then MS2 is the biggest technological Faux Pas till date. My 7 year old daughter can come up with a million brighter ideas. FIRE THAT A**hole. I've stopped using Mac Laptops since then, and have switched to WIndows Laptops (let's re-migrate folks..... call Han, Leia and Luke to join forces with The Emperor. Can't wait for WIndows 10 Pro to be launched. LONG LIVE THE EVIL EMPIRE AND DARTHY!!!!! At least they don't goof up on common sense things.

Seems to work well for me

    • Written by from West Caldwell

After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned and hesitant to keep this item after my new MacBook Pro arrived. It has worked like a charm! Been using my old MagSafe adapter to prolong the life of my MagSafe 2. No complaints!

Terrible Product - Save your money

    • Written by from Madison

I disregarded all the bad reviews and tried this adapter anyway. It worked fine for a couple months but is no longer functioning so I'm going to need to buy a new $80 power cable instead of a $10 fix. Pretty lame and a waste of money.

    Only works if jiggled

    • Written by from La Jolla

This thing is so finicky it's almost useless. If it's not jiggled into the correct position, my macbook pro stops charging, even though the adapter is connected. Any slight movement causes it to loose connection. I've had it replaced 3 times at the apple store. All work for the first couple times, then start to loose connectivity.

Worked for a good while, but it's finally gone out...

    • Written by from Currituck

I had mine for longer than a year, and it worked without fail, but it's finally gone to the "powering, but not charging" state. No amount of wiggling, switching out cords, switching out laptops has worked. I'm not going to buy another one. I'll just get a full MagSafe 2 power supply and be done with it. Mine was for my desk setup as well, so it didn't get jostled a lot. I just noticed one day that it wasn't charging, and thought that was odd. Powering but not charging is not helpful for me; I need it to power my laptop so that I can grab and go...

    Near Impossible To Use

    • Written by from Winter Springs

I don't know how Apple is even selling these they are so ineffective. It never supplies enough power for my laptop to charge, it just supplies enough power for it to run on while plugged in (but the battery doesn't charge), but that's when it is in a good mood, and has been jiggled just right, flipped up and down and begged to work. Most the time, it won't even supply enough power for it to power the laptop, or if it is supplying enough power to run it (but not charge) it suddenly just stops doing that, even though nothing has changed. I have tried it with multiple charging cables (in case it was the cable) and my husband's laptop, with the same effect. What a garbage product. VERY disappointed.

Wish I'd believed the one-star reviews.

    • Written by from Fitzroy

I couldn't believe this was as bad as some of the reviews suggested. I ordered one so my old power-adapter wouldn't go to waste. It worked four times: the first time straight away and then three more times after a lot of jiggling and cleaning the pins. I took it back to the Apple Store and they replaced it with a new one. The new one worked once. After I charged my laptop and then disconnected it, it has never worked again despite endless cleaning and jiggling. They should sell these in packs of 20 and mark them "Single Use Only".

mine works and does exactly as advertised

    • Written by from Lawrence

I was a bit hesitant to use this after reading all the negative reviews, however, mine worked fine right out of the box and continues to work. Granted, the negative reviews are saying they peter out at around 5 months, but I'm well over three months in to using my first one and it works just fine. Sometimes it needs a bit of wiggling to get the light to green, but away it goes. Perhaps it should be noted that I use this charger at my desk at work, so it doesn't get jostled around at all and is only used a few hours a day, a few days a week.

    No Problems, only solves them

    • Written by from Cincinnati

Does exactly what it's made for. I have used the adapter for three months with no problems. It does get slightly hot, but only slightly. Magnet is as strong as the Magsafe 2, but that wasn't as good as the original. It allows me to switch between two Mac Book Pros (2009 and 2014) with one power cable. Would like if they made an adapter that works from Magsafe2 to Magsafe. I would recommend.

    Useless and Faulty

    • Written by from STAMFORD

I have bought several of these in order to extend the life and functionality of several of my old MS1 Power Adapters ... and in order to contribute to a greener planet by not discarding the completely useful old Adapters.
Unfortunately I'll have to buy a 3rd one soon, because they are complete pieces of garbage. The 1st Converter stopped working after a week and may work 1% of the time if properly nudged around. I've met several people with the same but less severe issue. The 2nd Converter works about half of the time, but again, needs nudging.

Worked great for a few months. Intermittently works now.

    • Written by from Plano

The adapter worked as expected right after purchased -- no problems with it. However, over the course of a few months (~5 months), the adapter has mostly stopped being reliable. It is still mostly able to provide power, but my macbook will say "not charging". I have jiggle, remove the adapter and plug it in and out for quite some time before if I'm lucky, the charger will actually charge the battery. Not really worth the money - except that 8 of these would be roughly the same price as a new charger.

    Never worked

    • Written by from New Paltz

I wish that I could say it worked for a little while, but it hasn't worked at all, ever. In fact, since trying to use it my old magsafe chargers now no longer charge my old macbooks. So not only was this a $10 waste of money, I suspect that it has also cost me $160 in old chargers as well. Very disappointed in Apple!

Great for those of us with older MagSafe adaptors

    • Written by from Studio City

I keep one of these in my bag and one on my desk connected to an 85 Watt MagSafe adaptor. It is great that it allows me to use these old adaptors with my newer MagSafe2 computer as they will outlast several computers.

    Simply doesn't work

    • Written by from Littleton

I bought one of these it worked for a couple weeks then stopped charging. It will hold the current battery level but wont charge the battery. I purchased another one and it did not work at all. I have tried this with two separate charges with no success. Im really surprised apple is ok with selling such a piece of junk, and am baffled as to why there are so many problems with such a simple piece of hardware.

Worked great for the first few months

    • Written by from Chula Vista

This adapter worked great in the beginning. But after a few months the light stopped turning on and the mac would say that it's receiving power but not charging. I would have to unplug it and plug it in again till the light turned on and the mac would say it's charging. Like other reviews mentioned, the adapter gets very hot occasionally. The adapter stays on magnetically, so of course there's always the possibility that it could fall off and get lost. The price is pretty decent. But remember, you get what you pay for.
