Corner screen cracked - Cover just slipped off

    • Written by from Utrecht

This cover is slim, it slides into place easily and then fits snuggly. Unfortunately, it also comes off very easily. The first week I had my iPad Air I took the ipad from the table to my couch and along the way - slam - the iPad slipped out of the cover, out of my hands and fell on the hardwood floor. One of the corners of the screen cracked immediately.

I do prefer slim - my iPhone has only the screen protector - but this cover gives you unconsciously the suggestion you can pick it up a certain way, when you can't. If you don't want to risk having your screen cracked - buy the case. It's also easier for traveling as the back is obviously protected.

    NOT for travel.

    • Written by from Chicago

I got my case today, and while it looks really snappy, it's utterly useless for the ONE REASON I bought the thing. I would NEVER use this cover alone for travelling. It is far too flimsy and will not protect your device from even the most gentle trip through an airport x-ray machine.

I wouldn't even put it in a purse or day bag with this cover on it. It's guaranteed to fall off and you might as well not have it on at all. I'm sure that when my husband sees his, he'll want to send it back immediately.

This is extremely disappointing. I'm now forced to buy yet another hard case for travelling because that's why I own an IPad in the first place.

    Could be improved.

    • Written by from Markham

This is a minimal, elegant, lightweight, thin, and simple stand for your iPad. These attributes are consistent with Apple's philosophy, and are what attracted me to this stand.

The experience of this product is very mediocre however.

One of the problems this cover has is that it's attachment to the iPad is too weak. Either the magnet near the hinge is too weak, or they should have used another method for attaching the cover to the iPad - which is more preferable.

The cover could also offer a strap for carrying ease.

The hinge could have "friction"/be slower.

I was also deciding between this and the DODOCase, but the negative reviews regarding the DODOCase's poor durability drove me away. This cover could borrow the DODOCase's hard book realism, familiarity, personal-ness, experience, "sexiness". But maybe that's something that should be left to 3rd party accessory makers.

Rating: 7.5/10 as a simple, multi-purpose stand. Initial, just-bought evaluation.

    Okay product

The Smart Cover gets dirty very fast, and starts to wear out very fast as well. It does protect the screen well enough, but the dirtiness and the wearing out are not good.

Does exactly what I bought it for

    • Written by from Houlton

I received my Smart Cover today in a timely manner. It is well made and aligns perfectly and securely with the iPad 4. My reason for purchasing it is to make using the iPad around the house more convenient than the more bulky Snugg case which I also own. The Smart Cover is designed to only protect the screen so when traveling I will slip the device into the Snugg case knowing that the iPad has more complete protection.

    Cover does not stay attached

    • Written by from Tempe

I like the look and feel of this cover. Unfortunately, after two weeks of use it is not staying attached to my iPad mini. Although I am not using the cover as a handle, it is falling off when I pick up the device. Today the cover came off when I merely closed my mini. I've dropped the device several times in the last two days when the cover has come off. This will eventually lead to a broken mini. I'm replacing this cover with a different, safer one.

I think this is a waste of money. It does not work well at all. I wanted something that coer the back and protect it if dropped. Sorry I purchased.

Smart Cover is not so Smart

    • Written by from Charlotte

The cover frequently fails to put my third generation iPad to sleep, resulting in a dead battery and in worst cases lost data due to apps continuing to run on line. Often when I close the cover, I hear the electronic click indicating it has gone to sleep, but later find that it woke back up. Very disappointed with this purchase.

    waste of money

    • Written by from Phoenix

I bought this cover because it was cheaper than the full case and that was a bad decision. first off, the back is unprotected. I've always liked mac products but this one, I feel like i've been duped. why would apple make a product that only covers the front? i accidentally dropped my ipad and the corner cracked because it was unprotected. I bought the green case and was told at the store that it was easy to clean, not true. The case gets dirty and stains almost instantly. the magnetic attachment is neat but it falls off a lot. i love the idea of the magnetic top powering the ipad on and off. that is the only reason this got 2 stars. My advice, spend the money on the leather full case or find an alternative manufacturer. it will protect ALL of the ipad AND clean better.

    Apple should refund this junk.

    • Written by from Brunswick

This is the worst device Apple has ever produced. It doesn't stay on the iPad, and it won't even stay up so you can form a stand! (Even the iPad II was ok at that, just the "new" iPad version is defective in this.

This is absolutely worthless. I was fooled into buying the $79 version (I know, shame on me) and didn't even realize a $39 version existed, but I bought it at the Apple store and I learned to trust them.

I am just going to throw it away. Even the Apple Store techs are now suggesting you buy a case somewhere else. (We buy them for a business so buy them on a regular basis.)

Apple should refund all who were fooled into buying this junk. It has significantly lowered my opinion of apple products.

I agree with everyone else. This product stinks. It doesn't work, at all. Too flimsy to hold the ipad. Don't waste your money.

    Cheap

    • Written by from SAULT SAINTE MARIE

This cover is not worth 10 cents. The package it comes in is worth more. Shame on apple for designing some cheap cover.
It is so thin and came out of the box with a crease in it. It is a cheap piece of thin plastic that comes with full size computers in between the keyboard and screen during shipping. Maybe apple is recycling, who knows but this is garbage.

    • Written by from Suffern

It does not clean your screen the magnetic attachment is all right but it I only made for one side it get really dirty and the magnet leaves a scratch and sometimes even a sumge on my iPad I recommend not buying go o a leather case with a built in keyboard it helps me get my work done so get a leather keyboard case not a smartcover. But before u buy the leather keyboard case buy the app pages really helps and don't forget to register off iCloud it a life saver

    doesn't work; will be returned

    • Written by from San Francisco

Simply put, this is misleadingly described, overpriced and will be returned. If it worked the way it is described, I would have been happy to pay the high cost because it looks nice and is a good idea . The side magnetic bar is supposed to snap right onto the side (one would think in much the same way the magnetized power cords do) but it does not. I tested it on other metals objects around the home, and it does have a magnetic pull against those surfaces, but it does not cling AT ALL to the ipad or to the surface of my MacBook (also an aluminum covered body). Thanks for wasting me another trip to the store (so as to obtain a refund) Apple!
