    smartcover damage

    • Written by from Saskatoon

I purchased ipad and cover 3 months ago and the cover has etched 3 lines into screen of my ipad. I do not reccommend, rather, use a soft cover.

    Polyurethane pink cover

    • Written by from Rochester

This is a great cover for your iPad2. It goes on easily and folds back for a good grip to hold the iPad on your thighs when sitting in a chair. Also it rolls back easily to use on a table for typing. It cleans up clean as new with a wet soapy rag. No color has come off mine and I've washed it several times. I would not hesitate to recommend this cover. I do think they are over priced and never on sale. But no alternative cover will put the iPad to sleep.

    Leather - red

    • Written by from Salisbury

Whilst I appreciate this is a really clever idea I have to say I am disappointed with mine. The first one arrived and was grubby and scratched and I went through the long phone call to have it returned (the queue was long but the lady was really helpful that I spoke to when I did get through). They sent a replacement over night and have arranged to collect the old one. The second one arrived and it has two damage marks in it - without me even getting it out of the box. I can't even be bothered to send it back. I don't think the leather will be very durable and I am sure it marks really easily. Can't comment on the polyurethane but I think I might have been better with the cheaper version - maybe it would be a bit more durable.

    Smart Cover not So Smart

    • Written by from Georgetown

Since it looks like Apple is committed to this cover for a third generation, I should tell you they are not really worth the money or very useful. The cover stays closed as long as you don't move the IPad too much, put it flat in an attache, the cover is not a longtime solution to being used as a stand, the back is unprotected, and maybe if you usednitnprimarily for gaming it would be suitable. However, in an academic or school environment it is in adequate.

Also, your portfolio with keyboard is not for real typing, typing letters, papers, reports, etc they keyboard does not lay flat and it bounces every time you use it. Very disappointing.

    Nice Product!!!

    • Written by from Primghar

I purchased the smart cover when I got my iPad and was disappointed to find that I needed to purchase a back cover along with the smart cover. The smart cover is great, all though I think that Apple shoud make a hard-snap-cover for the back. The smart cover, I found, picks up alot of small dust particles and puts them on the iPad display area. The cover works well with the iPad and looks nice and is well made. I have found the dark grey polyurethane, shows scratches. I would recommend that if you do get the smart cover you should go with the leather model, even though it is more expensive, but worth it. Over all it is an average product.

    Smart cover

    • Written by from dearborn

First of all it's not a case it's a cover. It does what it's suppose to, protects the screen and looks good while doing. Is it worth $40.00 dollars? No,but if you buy a cheap imatation it does not last at all. I think it's an awesome cover!

Great magnetic hinges; easy to use

    • Written by from Rancho Palos Verdes

I've had this cover for nearly a year and love it. The magnetic hinges are fool proof and click into place cleanly. The cover is robust and the flip panels create a wide variety of stands and ways to hold onto the i-Pad. I would miss this cover now that I've gotten so used to it. I recommend this cover without reservation.

    Not so smart cover

    • Written by from tonopah

I bought the orange smart cover for my ipad 2. It worked and looked nice for about a month. Then I could see areas of orange rubbing off. If you use a damp cloth to wipe it clean, the color comes off too. I always have this cover on my ipad and when I travel or put it up for the day, it is inside of a super soft and protective envelope style cover. The cover gets weak and is harder to fold it up to use as a stand. It falls a lot. I would research other covers out there before buying this one. Mine looks horrible after 5 months.

    Perfection in design

    • Written by from Lewisville

The iPad 2 Smart Cover does everything it is advertised to do and it does it FLAWLESSLY. And contrary to what another user states on their review, this cover has never, ever put one single scratch on my iPad, so do not worry about that at all. In my experience, that claim is totally unfounded. And I pull off and put back on my smart cover often because I use the iPad charging dock. The cover goes on and comes off so pleasantly easy. It realigns perfectly and harmlessly every time.
I bought this cover 6 months ago, thinking I'd probably eventually "upgrade" to the leather smart cover when this one began to wear. 6 months later and my smart cover still looks and performs like new. And the polyurethane feels so good to the touch ... kind of like soft, brushed suede leather. The leather version sounds nice, but now I would never part with my polyurethane version (I have the light grey color which blends beautifully with the silver back metal of the iPad).

    doesn't work; will be returned

    • Written by from San Francisco

Simply put, this is misleadingly described, overpriced and will be returned. If it worked the way it is described, I would have been happy to pay the high cost because it looks nice and is a good idea . The side magnetic bar is supposed to snap right onto the side (one would think in much the same way the magnetized power cords do) but it does not. I tested it on other metals objects around the home, and it does have a magnetic pull against those surfaces, but it does not cling AT ALL to the ipad or to the surface of my MacBook (also an aluminum covered body). Thanks for wasting me another trip to the store (so as to obtain a refund) Apple!

    Amazing Cover

    • Written by from Ithaca

I love the "multi-use" screen cover. It's so helpful to have to have a fingerprint cleaner and a stand, all the magnet hasn't worn out and i've had it for 6 months. great product and worth the money.

    Great Cover

    • Written by from algonquin

I bought this one because it was cheaper and read bad reviews on the leather covers. The polyurethane is great no problems and i also had read reviews about how the magnet damages the side of the ipad, and that simply isn't true if you take the cover off the right way. all you have to do is pull the cover off in the opposite direction of the ipad, not up or down. It works great and keeps the screen clean, you'll love it.

I bought a pink back cover and use the dark gray cover. My smartcover never falls off. I would never pick it by just the cover no matter what case I used. It does what it is intended to do.

    Works great!

    • Written by from Destin

I looked at over 20 cases I feel, trying to find one that I liked and would work well with the iPad without making it look like a brick. One of the main features that I wanted was the smart closure. Getting the original was the best idea because it works great. I was worried when everyone was talking about how cheap it feels and looks. I was surprised by how nice it was and sturdy. Am very happy with my purchase and it keeps my iPad slim which is perfect.

Hesitant to order this cover given some of the lousy reviews it got, but pleasantly surprised! Works exactly as advertised as a cover and a stand. A bit pricey, but good quality. Wish they had a matching part for the back...

    Terrible product!

    • Written by from Morris Plains

Cover does not go on easily and does not stay on when opening, closing, carrying or even holding on my lap and reading. Aside from the fact that it puts the iPad to sleep, it has no other conceivable function. Does not protect unit at all. Polyurethane has a terrible odor. Chose Dark Gray for my husband because the other colors are just ridiculous for a grown man. Gray just looks dirty and drab. And to the users who are all excited that they can buy a back cover from Amazon, wouldn't it be so much niftier if Apple made a decent full cover instead of a half-arsed half cover?

    Nothing "smart" about it

    • Written by from Norwalk

Had it attached to my brand new iPad that I only owned a week propped up when the magnet decided to stop working and it crashed to the floor, shattering the screen. I am upset and dreading the $ that Apple will say is my responsibility even though their product caused the issue.
