    Product covers screen and acts as a stand as described. However while standing it has detached unexpectedly, toppling the iPad to the floor. Needless to say, I am searching for another product.

    Terrific case

    I've been using the product red Smart cover for three months now. Potential buyers should understand this is just a cover not a case for Protection from dropping, etc. I first bought the smart case but found that it obscured too much of the design of the actual iPad. So I traded it in for the smart cover and am much happier with it. I like the Apple design aesthetic and was attracted to the case because it works really well with that vocabulary. I would recommend you purchase a darker color, that will obscure any fingerprints or smudges. The case will show wear after a while, I have a leather one. I actually like the slight cracking that is starting to occur, it feels like an expensive and often used item, like my favorite briefcase or pair of gloves. It's a very tactile experience, extremely satisfying to hold. Considering that this is an item that I use every day, I'm Very happy with my purchase. I also own a third party case for protection for those occasions when I need to have just the iPad without a briefcase or bag to carry it in.

    Very happy with this buy, does what it is supposed to do, PROTECT THE FRONT. There are so many people mad because it doesn't protect the back. It is a cover not a case. And it is a very good cover

    My husband bought me a new ipad 3 for my birthday! He also bought me the ipad smart cover in green.
    As a teacher, I have had many workshops to help me learn my ipad. While at the workshop, my ipad cover kept falling off. Our presenter finally just took my ipad to help me get back up with the presentation. After disrupting the presentation, she just said, "This just doesn't work! Take it back! It won't stay on!"
    I haven't asked for a refund yet because I don't know what I should get! I love my ipad, but I don't know what to get to protect it!
    The cover just won't stay on!

    elegant minimalist design

    I don't want a cover that covers too much of the iPad. I just need something to protect the screen from dust and scratches. I don't feel the bottom needs to be wrapped up since i don't' wrap up my apple computer either. So, this cover protects the screen but also showcases the beauty and elegance of the iPad itself. It's a perfect minimalist design for me.

    I just upgraded from the original iPad to the new one, and I always thought the Smart Cover was kinda goofy.

    But now that I have one, I realize just how useful it is. Sure, it wakes the iPad up and puts it to sleep, and it serves as a multi-position stand.

    But the thing I love most is that when you flip it open, it protects the back of the iPad -- and makes it easier to grip! It's truly one of the more clever iPad accessories.

    Not enough protection, too expensive. Comes off too easily.

    Look elsewhere for a cover for your iPad. This does not have enough protection and is too expensive compared to 3rd party cases. It comes off too easily. It was my only choice when I purchased the iPad mini, but wished I had waited. Now I can't return it.

    Excellent Color & Case

    I agree with Christopher S from Burlington, this is a great cover, it is not a case. I have not had any mechanical problems whatsoever; it works as promised. As added protection you can purchase from Incase a neoprene sleeve - it goes hand in hand.

    The smart cover (regardless of color) is nice. Props iPad up to watch movies or to type, but the magnet touches the side of the iPad and scratches it. Should be like the iPad mini where the material covers the magnets to prevent this

    Caution! Virtually NO protection

    Sure, this covers your iPad screen, but if and when you drop it, your iPad could be toast.

    I also found the magnetic connectors to not be substantial enough to resist coming off when holding with one hand.

    I am getting a cover that the iPad slips in to so I have some protection of the corners should I drop my iPad.

    Worth the extra money, IMO

    I've had my iPad 3 since October and just finally got a REAL smart cover. I have two fakes from Amazon, and the real thing is way better quality than the fakes. Even right out of the packaging I noticed a HUGE difference. It's softer inside, sturdier outside (no creases after a week - fakes developed deep creases after the first couple of folds), magnets are better/stronger, and doesn't get dirty. I got the dark grey, and it's definitely worth the extra money, in my opinion. I don't regret my purchase at all.

    Saw alot of bad reviews and not to sure what people are expecting from this. The cover, covers my iPad and prtects it. The wake up and sleep fuction performs correctly. All the different fold set ups work just the way they are supposed to. It is good quailty. I think it is worth the money and a great buy.

    iPad 2 Cover is Good for 1-2 Years

    I have had this cover for 1-2 years now and I loved it until recently, when the rubber part of the cover started to fold in on the hinge. It's too bad that they didn't design that part to be hard rubber or light plastic, instead of the soft bendable rubber that it is.

    It's a major disappointment and I would advise you to look for an after-market cover instead. They don't seem to have this problem.
