I too think that this is great protective cover for the iPad, and when you read the other reviews about the magnet and tipping over must be user error, I have had one of these since 2nd generation iPad and have never had an issue

I have had the red leather cover on my iPad 2 for a year. Great design in that it keeps it trim and slides into my briefcase no matter what else I have stuffed in there. Yes, the leather gets a bit worn from the oil on your hands, but it merely looks broken in rather than dirty or worn out. Only one reason that this product does not get five stars: the magnetic strip is not strong enough and comes off far too easily. Make the magnetic strip stronger and it would be perfect. Still the best such product on the market if you wish to keep the slim profile of the machine.

I love this cover....superb quality and performance....no disappointments. It is everything that Apple says that it is! Just one more example of industrial design excellence.

Leather cover doesn't even last a year with in home use only. Love the magnetic design though.

I like this case. I had a leather case for my iPad and found it clumsy and also found that it was not holding the iPad in well. Furthermore I had to clean the case with leather cleaner which was annoying (smell). My iPad does not move and the cover shuts and opens well. When it leaves the house I will put it in a neoprene sleeve for added safety, but I am we'll satisfied except for the price which is too high.
The color is bright, but I will always be able to find it.

Was this useful? I like it! Protection without weight and bulk.

Looked great at first, but it is stained and dirty now, just from regular use. Moisture and oils from hands have made it look nasty and dark, and the edges are starting to curl up. Not worth $69 at all. Should have gotten the polyurethane.

    So disappointed.......$40.00 for this????
This cover does nothing to protect your 600.00 investment.
    Completely useless in my opinion.
It is held on by a magnet connection and can easily fall off and it does not to protect.
Don't waste your money on this....go elsewhere and buy a hard, think protective cover because this product will shatter when dropped!!!!!!!!!

I gave this 4 stars because ive spilled cranberry juice and ginger ale on my smart cover, dropped it so many times, abused it in my backpack and at work where there is a lot of dirt and my hands get really dirty and through all that abuse it still does what its supposed to. It does show some wear but it hasnt fallen apart to the point where i cant use it. It protects my screen and im happy with my purchase and would recomend this product!

Cover falls off of screen and off the side of my iPad, I have had less than 2 months and I am very frustrated after paying almost $70 for a red leather cover...

This is a big waste of money. My cover kept falling off and nearly resulted in damage to my ipad. I replaced it with a nice leather cover that's secure for half the price. My friends have also replaced their Smart covers.

I love my smart cover, I bought the tan one, I have been using Lucas Oil cleaner/polish to keep my cover looking good.... I love my iPad2 and my smart cover, Thank you Apple. I'm still wondering about the two white apple stickers that came with my iPad2, and what their intended use is for.. Merry Christmas and Blessings to all.

At first I was very excited about a cover that would put my iPad to sleep every time I closed it, but after using it for a couple of days I began to realize that the cover was more trouble than it was worth. For instance: almost every time I rolled up the cover to set it on the table, the magnets on the cover would detach from the iPad causing the iPad to fall down on the table or even to the floor. The pros of this cover do not out weigh its cons.

    Inside out

I initially thought the cover was a good idea but on further use I found that it came off alot easier than I would wish. The cover rolls up, the outer cover is on the inside of the roll while the interior of the cover which is suposed to be protecting the screen is exposed to grit and stuff as the stand. I will have to consider another option shortly.

VERY dissappointed in this cover. Did NOT hold up to claims...falls off easily... I almost dropped my ipad while hanging on to it and the cover while working on it. It's also very expensive for how little protection it offers.

Spending 40 dollars on this was a waste of money. I am a student and I've had this for about 7 months now. I use my ipad daily and my smart cover has begun to stop being securely magnetically attached and in my opinion is beginning to fall apart......DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS!

Half of the magnets are stuck to my ipad and half are in the cover! I am very frustrated, I bought my cover and ipad2 at an authorized Apple dealer (TD CURRAN) no one will help me and trying to get through to Apple about this is impossible! Maybe if they see this someone will get in touch with me!

OK as stand and cover for storage...

...awful to manipulate. Trying to hold the iPad with the cover attached (flipped completely behind or rolled to form a "handle") is awkward at best. As others have said, it slips off easily. I use it as a stand and as a screen protector for when the iPad is not in use, but as soon as I pick up the iPad, I just take the cover off and set it aside (until or unless I need it as a stand or put the iPad away). I could kick myself for spending $69 on this thing. I'm shopping now for something different.

The smart cover works great, I only wish that it would cover the back too. I like to not scratch up my iPad and with the back right out in the open it gets scratched soooo easily. Also if you stand the iPad up where it is more unstable...when I play fruit ninja or some other game like that it falls over and hits real hard because it is still somewhat heavy.

The red color looked phenomenal when I bought on the first day the Ipad 2 was released. A year later, as I eagerly await the shipment of my "new" iPad, I am purchasing a new poly smart cover.

The red color looks amazing at first and does fade. Scratches and scuffs become apparent and I store my iPad with smart cover in a sleeve when not in use. Also, the natural oils from your fingers make the edges of the cover turn darker which is nice but since its unlikely to get darker evenly, the cover starts to look old. Construction of the cover is great, and it does exactly what it says. Used every day for a year, it has never fallen apart, and the magnets work perfectly. The cover stays put nicely but I did purchase the additional Incipio back cover to link the smart cover into, which I highly recommend. I also had my iPad wrapped with a Zagg-like plastic film on the back and front professionally done (also highly recommended). Smart cover works great with this but the red leather did stain lines onto the plastic over time so light red lines would appear where the folds of the smart cover were. My friend also had the same issue with the black leather one, which is why I am buying a poly one for my new iPad.

Overall, if $70 is not a big deal, the leather smart cover is nice. I would not recommend it if you are also getting the plastic wrap on your iPad as it will mostly likely stain the wrap within a few months. It does not stain the actual glass on the iPad.
