    No Problems!

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

I have had this cover on my ipad since the day I bought it - release date- and have had no problems at all with it. It holds nicely, although I never expected it to be a handle and have never used it as such. It's sleek and light, functions well as a stand and has never demagnetized nor disconnected from my ipad. I have the red one and would certainly make the same decision to buy it again. I like the organic feeling of the leather and to me the cost difference over the polyurethane (plastic) covers was worth it.

    Not smart enough

    • Written by from Chicago

At first I was very excited about a cover that would put my iPad to sleep every time I closed it, but after using it for a couple of days I began to realize that the cover was more trouble than it was worth. For instance: almost every time I rolled up the cover to set it on the table, the magnets on the cover would detach from the iPad causing the iPad to fall down on the table or even to the floor. The pros of this cover do not out weigh its cons.

Be careful with this cover easy to drop iPad

    • Written by from Paynesville

A beautiful looking cover and the send to sleep function and stand function works perfectly.
However when using the iPad as a camera the temptation is to hold case in your left hand and use your right thumb to fire the camera. At some stage you might just let go with your right hand causing all the weight to be held by the folded cover which is held on magnetically. This results in the iPad falling to the ground.
This happened to me but amazingly the ipad fell on a corner and then rolled onto its back causing no damage apart from some scraches. Had it landed on its face I might not have been so lucky. BE CAREFUL.

    iPad smartcover

    • Written by from Vancouver

I AM SHOCKED at the stupidity of some people who think that the smart cover for the iPad 2 / new can be used like a handle! Come on people.... its held on with a think magnet. Its not meant to be a handle. I have tried other covers / cases, and they just don't work as well as the Apple smart cover. For screen protection, and the auto on off feature, this smart cover is the best bet. To keep my iPad a slim and trim as it was DESIGNED to be, I use the Zagg invisishield on the back, and a Splash Masque screen protector (came as a 3 pack). I have 3 iPads set up this way, and no complaints from any of them. The magnets on the cover get stronger the more you use them.... (in case some people find them a bit weak to start). Just remember, the cover is not a handle, or they would have called it a Smart Handle....

Here is what I don't get..... people who will buy the iPad TABLET, then buy some big honking case with a keyboard, and try to turn it into a NOTEBOOK! Come on! Apple has the Macbook AIR for that....

    Inside out

    • Written by from Berkeley

I initially thought the cover was a good idea but on further use I found that it came off alot easier than I would wish. The cover rolls up, the outer cover is on the inside of the roll while the interior of the cover which is suposed to be protecting the screen is exposed to grit and stuff as the stand. I will have to consider another option shortly.

    Awful- recall them all!

    • Written by from Lake Hughes

The case is awful, and Ive only had it for a month or so. The magnetic stick on looses its stick on after a couple weeks. The sides of the case shreds easily. And it does not protect you iPad at all (looks only)! If you try to make it sit up it will fall and crash your iPad to the ground. This case made it so it cracked the shell of my iPad very badly and would cost a lot to repare it. Happily I bought a totally different case on eBay. Don't settle for this dumb cover. REFUND!

Really disappointed in the quality of this cover

    • Written by from Tucson

It is made of very poor leather. it leaves stripe marks on the face of my new iPad and the leather is so weak, it doesn't stay in position when folded to raise the iPad for better viewing.

Not what I expect from Apple! Their quality control is usually much better.

    Awful!

So yesterday I've bought a brand new Red Smart Cover. Later that day i've got a small black spot in the center of the cover. So, after reading a lot of advices, took wet cloth and wiped a little bit. What do you know - now I have a BIG BLACK SPOT!!! This leather quality really awful. You just cannot clean off the real stain! Even using special leather cleaning sprays... That's a pity i've spent 88 bucks here in China and got this poor quality case...

Nice Red : $69+$29 (back case)

    • Written by from Alhambra

OK, this is purely impractical good looks and makes me feel better kind of purchase because part of the cost goes to Product RED, which was founded in 2006 by U2 frontman and activist Bono and Bobby Shriver of ONE/DATA to engage the private sector in raising awareness and funds to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

    1. Yes, magnetic cover is not a glued cover, so if you hold onto the cover and dangle the iPad, IT WILL disconnect : common 2 yr old stunts that work 100% of the time.

    2. Get an Incipio back cover that has a spine protector to incorporate the spine of this cover into a one-unite case/cover combo, no more stunts for the kids =(

    3. Yes, it will translate into unusually high amount of money spent on an iPad cover/case because you pay for the intrinsic values on being a philanthropic minimalist who happens to love the color red and paying for the goodwill of the brand Product RED.

    Simply Uh-Mazing!!!

    • Written by from Garland

The cover surpassed my expectations from the moment it connected by itself to my iPad. It's easy to keep clean, for me at least. You can even use leather cleaner on it if you desire. The stand function of it is perfect and practical. I wouldn't be without it now. It compliments the iPads sleek slim lines so well that, once again, I say 'Apple thought of everything'

    Understand The Function First

    • Written by from Lisbon

Ok this is not a protective case it's a protective cover for the screen.
If you want to kick your IPad around buy an Otterbox
It is built for minimalist who do not want to add a bulky plastic case
My second one and I love the product

    ipad cover

    • Written by from Fort Nelson

VERY dissappointed in this cover. Did NOT hold up to claims...falls off easily... I almost dropped my ipad while hanging on to it and the cover while working on it. It's also very expensive for how little protection it offers.

    Beautiful and individualistic

It's a great cover! Recommendation for those who travel a lot with their iPad, or take it to work everyday: buy the black leather cover. Scratches are unnoticeable and the dye is very durable.

    Excelent cover.

    • Written by from Newark

I bought the red leather smart cover, and it is awesome. The smart cover does what it says, perfectly. Fits the new Ipad (3th generation) and the material have great quality. The magnetic feature allows you to easily line up the cover in the side of iPad. It stays on well, folds up without problem, protects the screen and puts the iPad to sleep. I recommend this smart cover.

    Good screen protection

I am now using this on the New iPad after almost a year on my iPad 2. it has picked up some scuffs and has a few areas that are a little darker than others, but that is what leather does. One of my coworkers didn't realize it was an iPad and hit it very hard with what can best be described as a club. Left a dent in the cover but not a scratch on the iPad. That was enough of a testimonial for everyone else I knew with an iPad to get this cover (not necessarily in red though).

I dont realy care for the red one but I like that it's leather.
So if you are getting a smart cover and you are willing to to pay $69.99 then the leather is the way to go.
    Get any color you want
Who am I to tell you what to get.:):):):):):)

    Red iPad cover

The automatiic on-off is useful when the iPad face is covered. Fits perfectly, and when folded acts as a support. A bit expensive, but I still would buy it again! Cool looking!
