    DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT

    • Written by from Stamford

    HORRRIBLE. NOT FANTASTIC.
Apple is turning into microsoft with there hidden reportingg software built into lion to randomly send lists of applications.
Plus the limited support for final cut 7 is a joke.

Apple you used to be great now I have a pile of 96 mac pro towers sitting in basement and on ebay. Switched everything from final cut 7 to avid on pc.
Idk what you people are thinking but what about us video professionals? Huh forget final cut x its worse than lion and now does apple I must say I am no longer a faithful apple supporter

    Disappointed !

    • Written by from Attika

I was running Snow Leopard on a 13' i7 MBP with 8GB, I din't like the memory leakage of SL and the fact that some of the programs I wanted on the Apple store would only run on Lion, so I decided to upgrade to Lion.
Purchased the USB Lion and upgraded. Upgrade went well with no issues, however...
MBP now boots slower, applications open slower, Lion needs about 500MB more RAM than Snow Leopard, minor cosmetic issues like the new color scheme, the finder menus, the new look of the phonebook, calendar, airport are just too tablet oriented...
I'm returning the Lion USB Disk and restoring back to Snow Leopard. Sorry Apple, but Lion is disappointing ! I just hope Mountain Lion is better...

    Apple has lost their way

    • Written by from PARK RAPIDS

After having to deal with lion, Which I compare to vista. My next computer is going to be a windows/linux machine again. I've had about 8 apple laptop/desktops in the past 9 years, and the last 4 have been such a hardware headache, and now with lion. The software is bad. More freeze-ups than ever. Spinning beach-balls of death. just slow. Apple OS upgrades use to actually speed up computers. Now it takes the "i" series just run run the bloated software. One more user turning back to windows-

Lion is just change to churn sales

    • Written by from CHICKAMAUGA

Lion is more complicated than Snow Leopard and the changes are more complicated without real advantage. It's just changing to churn sales. You should always give a customer the option, as you do with the new Lion Mail program, of keeping a familiar look and feel desktop and/or program, etc since fingers adapt and work best without too much thought, just like you wouldn't change a piano keyboard or a cello. It can be done but the learning curve is too steep. So, keep to what works, change only if necessary. Apple now is such a closed system that it's social role as a disruptor is superseded by its control mentality. For example, I just used Windows to write a book; having the "end" key move cursor to end of line is efficient; can't be done in Apple OS.

Love this update. All my programs still work great

    • Written by from Rexburg

I'm not sure what people are saying about programs not working. I have ALL of the programs they have and everything works perfectly. Not one issue at all. Sometimes it's an operator error.

This is a great update and I have no complaints.

    Sonw Leopard is better

    • Written by from Ivry sur Seine

I prefer Snow Leopard over Lion.

The multi-touch gestures are not that easy to perform.

The vertical scroll bar of windows are very narrow. You may need to try several clicks with your mouse in order to get them.

Impossible to go to the end or to the start of HTML pages with the 3 fingers gesture. I really miss this feature of Snow Leopard.

I think I will reinstall and go back to Snow Leopard.

    If I could rate a 0, I would

    • Written by from Asheboro

I am not at all impressed with this operating system. I had to buy Snow Leopard first to even gain the privilege of paying for Lion, so I feel like I had $30 stolen. I have not found any of these "amazing" features and most certainly would not classify it as "the most advanced operating system". It does not support PowerPC applications so beware if you are thinking about upgrading. Since apparently Apple does not feel they should rectify this problem in their super awesome, advanced operating system, you either have to contact the manufacturer of any PowerPC applications and hope they have a different version or you get to lose that money too. I have never had a complaint about my Mac until now, but I am thoroughly *explicative* off that they claim this OS is so advanced, but failed to incorporate a very important compatibility feature.

Not much difference between Apple and PC now

    • Written by from Canton

My brother talked be me into buying a Mac because I was tired of updating my PC and loosing programs due to the updates. Mac had a reputation of few OS updates and no problems when they did. Now we have Lion; which I must update in order to get full functionality of iCloud; yet, if I update I loose thousands of dollars in software (LITERALLY THOUSANDS). I have not updated, but I've been researching as money does not grow on trees. I can not use my Final Cut Studio, Office for Mac, Quicken, and Photoshop. What's the deal? should I go back to PC or is Mac going to correct this grave error in their reputation?

This is not the most current OSX Lion version

    • Written by from CHICAGO

This review is of the USB Thumb Drive only, not of OSX Lion itself.
Received this from Apple on-line store April 17, 2012. Unfortunately the software on this Apple Thumb Drive is not current. It is an older version of the OSX Lion software.
After installing from the Apple Thumb Drive you must update Lion OSX software to get the current version. It takes over an hour to download the update on a DSL connection. Then it takes over thirty-minutes to run the update.

Lion: Many Giant Steps Backwards, a Few Baby Steps Forward

    • Written by from Los Angeles

If I could easily, I would go back to Snow Leopard. There so much of the functionality of the previous operating systems that are just missing in Lion and all of the new features are buggy and annoying.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Kew Gardens

Disappointed in this software. Sometimes keeping things simpler is better! I cannot stand the new feature that reopens previous applications when you log off, it's annoying and we the users demand a fix in the next release to allow this capability to be turned off. I have to say, what really do Apple new releases give to an end user that one can call "really" useable? Apple seems to be going the same way that Microsoft Windows went. Let's hope a change of direction back to simplicity happens, or perhaps one can just dream!

    WTFO?!

    • Written by from Nashua

This is someones idea of a bad joke, right?! Apple wants me to give up the stellar performance and stability of Snow Leopard for this eye-[sore]candy? I don't think so. Sadly, it appears Mountain Lion is well on its way to being even more childish than Lion.

No thank you on both accounts.

I'm sticking with Snow Leopard until _ _ _ _ freezes over; Apple wakes from the iDevice induced episode of Nightmare on Elm Street they're putting us through; or my computers die. That, or it’s seriously time to consider a new OS as Apple seems to have lost sight of their computer business, people that use them, and why we use them.

As a company, Apple has "jumped the shark", and I have no intention of swimming in these shark infested waters with the rest of the kiddies. I have work to do. I have neither the time, nor the desire, to spend any of it on Apple's experiment in iComputing.

    From heaven (10.6) to _ _ _ _ (10.7) in one fell swoop. What a shame!

    • Written by from Manhattan

I don't really apreaciate the direction their taking. I don't want my iMac to turn into a giant iPad . Why can't apple leave OSX alone ? What ever happened to that OS that was complex for pros and simple for consumers ?

    I regret the "upgrade"

    • Written by from Park City

Slow jerky, Scrolling changes are bad. My MS office no longer works, Can't use my HP scanner even though I followed all the post upgrade help instructions.

I wish I had read the reviews before I upgraded. I thought the iCloud would be good but now I regret it.

    Mac since the late 80's

    What is going on APPLE???

    • Written by from Southlake

So I recently purchased an additional computer - couldn't upgrade to ICLOUD on the prior software - was getting close to full at that point - so why not invest in a larger computer instead of upgrading and installing which was going to cost more money anyway? So, I get the 2300.00 Macbook pro - It never operated properly - it was slow, spotty, the globe was always running - brought it back and they replaced my computer as it was within a month. Now after a week of having this new computer same issues in various capacities. Same issues as others state on here - the more upgrades and new equipment including the new iPhone - I am about to rip my hair out - I have always been with apple because they are supposed to be close to indestructible and the performance has always been top notch. I am so annoyed at this point - I feel like I am running on a 5 year old infected PC -Can't stand LION - Much prefer previous version.

    soo not impressed

    • Written by from Okotoks

I have always LOVED MAC...until NOW!! I have to drive 2 hours to buy a disk to upgrade my desktop to Snow Leopard, just so I can come home to upgrade to Lion so I can upgrade to icloud which is something I don't even want or need!!! I have to do this just so I still have access to my mac email!!! When I travel I don't even turn my phone on because of excessive roaming charges so there is very little benefit to me to access all my info remotely. I have 2 mac laptops that aren't even upgradeable but were still usable. I bought an Iphone because it worked so well with my Mac computers...but now my iphone will also be out of date...and wait there's more...there's a new download coming this summer and for another 29.95 I can have something else I don't want or need!! Hey Macintosh...thanks for destroying what worked perfectly for ME...thanks for turning alot of my computer equipment into TRASH. Never thought I would be saying this but Microsoft is looking pretty good...blackberry may be a better option...and it might be time for a hotmail account. Not sure why Iphone, Imac, Ipad, Iwork starts with "I" because it's not working for "ME" anymore! Certainly "Ipay" seems to be working for Macintosh!

Please inform customers that they'll lose Battery autonomy..!!

    • Written by from Freiburg Im Breisgau

Happy to have upgraded my MacBook Air 11" for the new functionnality.
But now I lost 30%-40% of battery autonomy.. scandalous...
If Apple was proposing to reimburse with a downgrade... I would take it without hesitation.
    Best Regards

"Thumb Drive" The way to Go

    • Written by from Troy

My iMac Mid 2008, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Due, 4GB Ram 667 MHz. Apple user since the early 90's. Ok here's what I discovered, 1) The Thumb Drive install is FAST, 33 Minutes not including the update installations afterwards.. 2) You have a back up copy of Lion if needed
    3) The only 3rd party software that I had that currently does not work was Word, & Photoshop. I did receive an update from Intuit to allow my copy of Quicken 07 to function. Every step of the install process went flawlessly with the exception of the using of Apple Migration Assistant. I have to believe that is where everyone's problems arise. Upon the use of the Migration Assistant installation CRASHED each and every time. I basically dragged and dropped my files from my Time Machine to the New Lion Drive I had created. Other than those instances (4 Crashes / restarts) Lion now runs like a champ. simply put as Steve Jobs would say, "It just works."
There are certain things one must get accustomed too, overall though Lion is a nice addition to the OSX Family.
