    iOS 7.1? Forget it...

    • Written by from Woodbridge

Worked great all the way up until I updated to iOS 7.1... Now all I get is a black screen on my TV saying source not found. Apple, please push a new update to fix this issue, or stop advertising that this product is supported.

Who are Apple trying to kid .....

    • Written by from Ryde

bought one in Jan 12 for use with Ipad 2 - worked fine for about 2 months - mirrored, and very easy - BUT I upgraded to IOS 5, and afterwards got the message ' accessory not supported by ipad' - dismissing the message made no difference.
I have bought another one today ( in the box, not the bag - again, genuine Apple product) and got the same message.
After a 25 minute phone call with Apple Support, I am told that there is a software bug with IOS 5, which will hopefully be fixed with IOS 6 - is that helpful? Not really.
if you can get one that works, its a cracking gadget - unfortunately for me, its been a waste of £70, with a pretty poor excuse from Apple

    Great Connection to TV!

    • Written by from Primghar

I have the iPad 2 and an iPhone 4 and it works great with both of these. I would like to point out that with the iPad 2 it will mirror exactly what you do where as the iPhone 4 will only show pictures, videos and etc. I think that it is a good investment for the people who don't really want to buy the Apple TV but want to be able to show off their pictures, videos, new apps and more to a whole room of people. The other option is to get the Apple iPad VGA Adapter which would also connect to a TV with a VGA connection. I think that it is a good investment and a very reasonable price! FIVE STAR PRODUCT!!!!

    Updated Digital AV Adapter

    • Written by from Hendersonville

This new adapter (released with the new iPad in 2012) fixes the one glaring fault in the old adapter. Namely, they added a locking mechanism to keep it secured, so no more sudden unintended disconnects. Two buttons on the side release the locking mechanism. I only noticed this when I could not detach it following a film, so maybe a bright red notice in the box would be a good idea. Either way, a sold improvement of an already very useful product. And, no more pesky unsupported peripheral messages!

Product is worthless for an Ipad 2 after iOS 7.0 upgrade

    • Written by from BALTIMORE

DO NOT upgrade to iOS 7.0 if you intend to use this with an Ipad 2 and try to mirror NetFlix with an HDMI cable. It NO LONGER WORKS...complete trash.

    Doesn't work...

    • Written by from Calgary

I've got an iPad 3 and my wife and I both have iPhone 4's.
The iPad running iOS 5 works.
The iPhones running 6 only export the audio not the video.
This adapter really only has a couple of jobs. It's supposed to export the audio and the video from a handful of devices to the TV. I can't believe apple continues to sell this product in their stores when THEY KNOW how many people are having issues with it.

IOS 5 worked with the AV cable for video out out. It stopped working when I updated to iOS 6, with a message that said this device is unsupported on iPod touch.

Works Great for MLB AtBat 2012

    • Written by from Conway

I got this to watch baseball using the MLB at Bat 2012. It works great on my ipad3 and ipod touch 4. It mirrors everything on the ipad, but only those apps that allow it on the ipod touch. I can watch videos and certain apps only on the touch.

    Works great for me!

Useless and doesn't work as described... for me.

    • Written by from Vancouver

Does not work with my iPhone 4 (6.1) connected to my early-2011 Sony Bravia tv. Videos from the "Videos" app work just fine and look great on the tv, but absolutely nothing else (YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, NHL Gamecenter Live, photos) shows up on the tv. I get a black screen, sometimes with the audio, but never with a picture. What are some people doing differently that causes this to work for them? I feel jipped out of 40 bucks considering it apparently doesn't do what the description says (unless you only use Apple's "Videos" app.)

Plugged it in and worked on my 4s and iPad 2. I am not sure what the others were complaining about. I has to turn the monitor off then back on when I plugged it in but I expected that.

DAV is Not Ready for Prime Time

    • Written by from Doylestown

My out of the box experience was poor. I tried the Digital AV Adapter on two different displays: Asus Monitor & Sony Bravia TV using an iPad3. The results were similar.

The display is not truly mirrored. The display is application specific and controlled by the application. The display and can be significantly different than the iPad display. I could not find anyway of controlling the output "mirror" with the iPad-3.

All issues I encountered appeared to be software issues.

HBO GO, MAX GO & SHO Anytime displays a screen on the HDMI display that says that they are sorry but the applications does not currently support HDMI display.

Netflix works the best but while a movie is playing the iPad3 shows a red "splash" screen while the movie plays on the HDMI display...not a true mirror.

Epix crashed the HDMI display. I was able to hear audio through the TV & monitor but no video with any application or main iPad3. Power cycling the iPad3 resolved the issue.

Does its job and does it well

    • Written by from Urbana-Champaign

I recently started to use this AV adapter to watch Netflix on my TV with my iPad and it has been working great. The image and audio quality has always been impeccable. This also goes for all other video playing applications such as YouTube. While playing games, the display quality is also great and the latches on the adapter help keep it plugged in when I'm turning or rotating the device, which was a flaw of the older adapter. Although the adapter does do a good job of displaying photos on the TV, too, I prefer to browse my photos on my iPad (but this is just my preference).

Other people have complained that the adapter would be better had it just been one cable that plugs straight into an HDMI port, but they forgot that the iPad should be plugged in and charging during TV-watching marathons (I like to watch more than one episode at once), so the way it is currently set up is ideal, in my opinion.

All in all, this digital AV adapter does its job and does it well.

This adapter is perfect for connecting a Ipad 3 with the 30 pinconnector to a tv.Because you connect to theTV with a HDMI cable the sound is also sent to the tv.

Just purchased HDMI and AV adapter for my IPAD 3rd generation. I was all excited to play my videos and movies on a large flat screen TV. NOT! I do not understand how this has so many mixed reviews that it works. I tried multiple HDMI inputs on the TV..nothing. I even got a pop-up when trying to play a newly purchased movie and it said the movie is protected and not authorized to play on this device.

The AV adaptor connects to the tv via the HDMI cable. Works well with my Ipad2 - I can watch movies I have rented from ITunes. Sound and picture quality is great. Perfectly mirrors all my apps. Unfortunately Lovefilm is not supported. But no other problems so far.

Works for everything I tried with iPad 3

    • Written by from League City

A lot of reviews are saying it doesn't work for certain apps. So far I've tried it with a 1080p iTunes movie download (Hunger Games), Spotify, and the Watch ESPN app. Everything has worked flawlessly so far with my 2006 Samsung DLP HDTV. No issues whatsoever. I did set it to stretch mode for my TV. Now I can watch my college football!! Very happy with this product!

So, this thing does what it says, however, it won't play HBO Go, which is 75% of the reason I purchased it. I'm returning it :(
