AV Adapter useless on iOS 7.1.1 with IPAD 2

    • Written by from Kaunakakai

Until the upgrade, the AV adapter was working great!. Now we get a black screen and the TV puts out a MSG stating there is no connected device. Could you FIX the issue and send out an update to allow these adapters to work again. Apple products are not cheap, so we as consumers expect quality. FIX the problem at hand and please don't come back and tell us we need to purchase a newer adapter to correct this problem. That would be unacceptable!

    30 pin connector

I have upgraded my iPad to the latest pallet invention and of course as all of yo know, the 30 pin does not stream netflix. My wife never updated her phone from 2 changes ago, and the 30 pin ran netflix flawlessly! Looks like apple wis gonna return my money! I hate apple products!

I was so excited when I received my adapter, so much so that my husband and I planned an all day netflix marathon when we were getting a foot of snow. We started using it and within minutes it would cut out or say that it's not supported. We were kinda bummed out thinking I had bought a bad one, so a few weeks later we got another one and it did the exact same thing. I am very disappointed and wish I could switch brands all together.

Stopped working after upgrading to 7.1.1

    • Written by from Dunbarton

This worked great until I updated to 7.1.1. Sometimes it cuts in and out like it has a short. I see the video for a second or two at a time, but then the screen goes black even though the video is still playing on the phone. It will also be working fine and then all of a sudden go to a blue screen with a message "Not Supported," yet the video is still playing on the phone. This was a very expensive adapter, which I've only had about 6 months. I visited an Apple Store and they were no help because it worked fine in the store, but that is PRECISELY THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T!!!! Please fix this!!!! I expect better from Apple.

    iOS 7.1? Forget it...

    • Written by from Woodbridge

Worked great all the way up until I updated to iOS 7.1... Now all I get is a black screen on my TV saying source not found. Apple, please push a new update to fix this issue, or stop advertising that this product is supported.

    Needs improvement for portability

    • Written by from Downingtown

I have found that these adapters work just fine if being used in a stationary setting. However, if this device is used in a setting where it might need to be flexed or twisted (ie. Classroom or Business setting), these adapters don't hold up well. The connection between the iPad and the HDMI display becomes unreliable and begins to cut in and out.

I have been useing the New Version Apple Digital AV Adapter ( A1422 ) sence it was first made available. Started using it with my iPad 2nd gen., only about a month old and at first it did not work at all with genaric HDMI cable I had so I went and spent $46 on a nice black and blue Nylon woven sleaving around the actual cable with the Gold plated connection ends and it worked great. I then bought the iPad 3rd gen. ( The New iPad ) and started using the Adapter with it and this time flawless, no issue at all. This adapter is working great with the iPad 2nd with the newest update 7.1 to kick, how, I Don't know why and don't care, it works great, if it isn't broke don't fix it right. And still working great with the iPad 3rd with 7.1.... So I have no complaint with it, on working with the iPads.

My problem is when I hook up the HDMI with my iPod Touch 4th gen. to my HDTV and tried all three ports, all I get is very great sound and no picture. Tried all there ports shutting everything off and restarting the HDTV and iPod Touch 4th gen. And still the same thing great sound and no picture, I mean really. I just want to use for RedBox Instant app. Yes it works with it on both iPads but not the iPod. Why not just use the iPad sense it works with it you, well I will tell ya, lol, I wont to be able to use my iPad while in and out of the movie. But check this out the TV I am trying it on is a off brand that works really well called a Sceptre HDTV , well thats what the makers say anyway, in my opinion it's not a true HDTV because we get the HD services and lol it still don't look like our LG Smart HDTV that I have not tried the iPod Touch 4th on yet. And I will later and give the update. Thank you for reading, have a great one.

Not at all Steve Jobs approved

    • Written by from San Diego

There is no way to fill your 16:9 screen with this. Totally unApple, per Steve Jobs like expectations. Totally disappointing. Will same happen for hdmi connector adapter for my last gen 17" mbp? Not sure I want to risk the funds.

For $40 I would have expected full use if my TV, not just 30%

Works great with my iPhone 4S!

    • Written by from Marysville

Definitely recommend it. I can stream movies from the cloud through my phone onto the TV, play my games on the TV; it's absolutely amazing and does everything it says. Don't even have to worry about the battery dying because it allows you to keep the phone charged via an extra output for a power cord. Very happy with the purchase.

    Works as advertised

    • Written by from Raleigh

Bought this today. Had a problem at first with video ... snow ... video ... snow ... video. Switched to another HDMI input on my TV and have had absolutely *NO* problems since. Plays beautiful video and audio is top-notch. Works equally well on my iPhone 4S (ISO7) and my wife's iPad 2 (IOS6)

    Does not work as advertised.

    • Written by from Berkeley

I tried the rca-out dongle first, and then returned it and tried the HDMI dongle, and neither one actually mirror what is on your screen. When I use a VGA-HDMI adapter on my laptop and plug it into my television, that works; it displays exactly whatever I play as if it were a duel monitor setup. With the iPhone / iPod the device only works with certain applications. iTunes, for instance, which is astoundingly picky about what precise resolution and framerate it will accept, and which format (MPEG4), so if you're trying to play an .mkv file on a third-party app, you're out of luck. It'll play on the device, but not route through the adapter. Unless you've got the time and technical know-how to convert your files to a friendly format in advance, do -not- rely on this product for "plug-and-play" convenience.

Ok, might fixed alot of peoples problems

    • Written by from FORT WALTON BEACH

Like 70% of you this item didnt work, AT ALL. after a few basic computer troubleshooting, i have come across a potential fix. Turn your iPad off > plug in Adapter > turn on. While on the iPad it will transfer and mimic the screen. Once in a movie or show itll take up full screen. SO far i dont have any complaints other than maybe apple should have found some way to remove this bug after a year of people complaining

    Ipad to HDMI adaptor

    • Written by from Port Hope

The adaptor only sporadically shows the Ipad screen on the television. It is not the HDMI cable or the TV as other computers work well with their own HDMI ports. When squeezing the adaptor, occasionally the screen on the Ipad shows on the TV. From other reviews this seems to be a manufacturing defect.

My boyfriend bought me one of these and it worked great until I updated my software. Now it says "this device is not supported". I bought another thinking the first was faulty, but still no luck. It's a waste of $40.
