    Great idea but

    • Written by from Northglenn

Plugged Ito my ipad and it worked great but removal was scary.
The adapter fits into the ipad 30'pin port so tight, it was very, very difficult to remove. So proceeded to install in my iPhone. Bad luck, it didn't work at all. Again very difficult to remove.

I would have kept it but the snug fit makes me think that pins could become damaged.

I have a iphone 4s with os 6.1.1. I tried every idea I found on the internet. Nothing worked.
I changed the HDMI cable to the best one I had. Now it works.

    Great product

This adapter is perfect for connecting a Ipad 3 with the 30 pinconnector to a tv.Because you connect to theTV with a HDMI cable the sound is also sent to the tv.

Useless and doesn't work as described... for me.

    • Written by from Vancouver

Does not work with my iPhone 4 (6.1) connected to my early-2011 Sony Bravia tv. Videos from the "Videos" app work just fine and look great on the tv, but absolutely nothing else (YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, NHL Gamecenter Live, photos) shows up on the tv. I get a black screen, sometimes with the audio, but never with a picture. What are some people doing differently that causes this to work for them? I feel jipped out of 40 bucks considering it apparently doesn't do what the description says (unless you only use Apple's "Videos" app.)

IOS 6 update removed ability to watch or project videos

    • Written by from Redding

As a teacher I depend on my iPod Touch, iPad, and now my iPhone to carry my videos to classes, meetings, and workshops. The upgrade apparently resulted in the loss of the ability to show through TVs or projectors (my principle use). I am angry and rushing to find my DVD players and all of my DVD source material to return to an earlier age. THANKS FOR THE SCREW-UP APPLE

    Works fine

Was a bit skeptic after the reviews but can say it works as expected (iOS 6.1).
The only thing is that some apps don't support the HDMI output towards the TV and the only way to know is to try, therefore blame the app developers for that restriction or lack of information... Luckily for me most the apps I use do support HDMI output.

    AV or VGA

    • Written by from Moses Lake

Everybody saying this doesn't work with iPhone 4 or iPad 2 or whatever, know that this is an AV adapter and you might need an VGA adapter instead, also the VGA adapter costs less than this one although it doesn't support charging. Bottom line is if this one doesn't work, then maybe you need the other one.

One more thing, if your movies from iTunes don't play on your projector or TV screen, it's not due to the adapter, it's due to the fact that your projector doesn't allow HD movies to play. Newer projectors allow HD movies to play, I forgot the name of the thing that doesn't allow
HD movies but its found in older projectors and TV's.

    Doesn't work...

    • Written by from Calgary

I've got an iPad 3 and my wife and I both have iPhone 4's.
The iPad running iOS 5 works.
The iPhones running 6 only export the audio not the video.
This adapter really only has a couple of jobs. It's supposed to export the audio and the video from a handful of devices to the TV. I can't believe apple continues to sell this product in their stores when THEY KNOW how many people are having issues with it.

This is a great adaptor I've never had a problem except when the television in one hotel didn't have HDMI ports.

    Fixed the sound problem

    • Written by from Mabank

The video is great. True high def but sound through the hdmi is spotty. My fix...start your video file playing after a second plug in an aux cord to the headphone jack. The result is crystal clear audio with a high def image on your screen. This is worth every penny I spent on it. The hdmi only carries stereo accross so the headphone jack is no loss in audio quality

Didnt work for my Ipad or Iphone

    • Written by from Rio vista

I had a different brand adapter which worked well. It was from Iphone and Ipad to Component. When we upgraded to ios6 then the adapter no longer worked. I bought this one and it does not work on any of out iphones or ipad2's. I restarted devices while this was plugged in, as suggested by some reviewers but to no avail. It is strange to me how this will work for some and not other people. I seen it suggested that maybe my TV isnt new enough. Its about 3 years old max. Anyway, I also checked for newest ios update and we are up to date so again strange.

Losing service when I plug in the adapter?

    • Written by from Waco

Just purchased a new hdmi adapter from the apple store today. Was really excited to get one as I wanted to play Netflix over my phone. Plugged the device in and tested on a video which worked fine. But as soon as I go to Netflix and try and start something I lose service and the phone goes to searching.... Do I have to have wifi connection in order to watch it or what?

    APPLE DIGITAL AV ADAPTER

    • Written by from Fairborn

Just purchased HDMI and AV adapter for my IPAD 3rd generation. I was all excited to play my videos and movies on a large flat screen TV. NOT! I do not understand how this has so many mixed reviews that it works. I tried multiple HDMI inputs on the TV..nothing. I even got a pop-up when trying to play a newly purchased movie and it said the movie is protected and not authorized to play on this device.

So I read the reviews and was skeptical to buy. I took a plunge and purchased the adapter... I can always return it right? Using it now as I am typing out this review. It works well... No complaints so far ! I wish there was as sort of remote app to control the iPad while I'm in bed lol!
