Worked great with my iPad 1 but useless with the new iPad

    • Written by from Toronto

This cable worked great when I was using it on my iPad1 but it has never worked on my new iPad or version 3 as some folks call it. My recommendation is not to buy it as you are just wasting your money.

It is a shame but I find this typical of many apple accessories. They just don't work.

Bug in Podcast App in IOS 6

    • Written by from Mountain View

I have used thie Digital AV Adapter to view video podcasts on my HD TV with my iPod v4. It worked flawlessly prior to IOS 6.

After downloading IOS 6 and the new Podcast App, I get audio only on my HD TV (video stays on the iPod screen). Apple, must have introduced a bug in the Podcast App (perhaps not flagging Video podcasts). Apple, please fix this bug.

Who are Apple trying to kid .....

    • Written by from Ryde

bought one in Jan 12 for use with Ipad 2 - worked fine for about 2 months - mirrored, and very easy - BUT I upgraded to IOS 5, and afterwards got the message ' accessory not supported by ipad' - dismissing the message made no difference.
I have bought another one today ( in the box, not the bag - again, genuine Apple product) and got the same message.
After a 25 minute phone call with Apple Support, I am told that there is a software bug with IOS 5, which will hopefully be fixed with IOS 6 - is that helpful? Not really.
if you can get one that works, its a cracking gadget - unfortunately for me, its been a waste of £70, with a pretty poor excuse from Apple

Works for everything I tried with iPad 3

    • Written by from League City

A lot of reviews are saying it doesn't work for certain apps. So far I've tried it with a 1080p iTunes movie download (Hunger Games), Spotify, and the Watch ESPN app. Everything has worked flawlessly so far with my 2006 Samsung DLP HDTV. No issues whatsoever. I did set it to stretch mode for my TV. Now I can watch my college football!! Very happy with this product!

    Digital AV Adapter Nearly Useless

    • Written by from Sandy Hook

The claim that this adapter will mirror "whatever’s on your iPad ...— apps, presentations, websites, and more — on your HDTV" certainly isn't true for my iPad 1 device. The only screen images which I can view on my HDTV are photos displayed during a slideshow. Whenever you stop the slideshow to view a single photo or return to the home menu the TV screen goes blank. This device is nearly useless for anyone with an original iPad. But what really annoys me is that Apple could fix the problem if they chose to do so because obviously the mirroring functionality works fine in some instances.

Does anyone know of an app which supports mirroring for iPad 1 devices?

Just ditched DirecTV and got this plus NETFLIX equals awesome. Plus playing FIFA 2012 with my son (with iPhones as gamepads) on a 27" TV looks and plays perfect, he kept saying, "this is cool!", thanks Apple!

So, this thing does what it says, however, it won't play HBO Go, which is 75% of the reason I purchased it. I'm returning it :(

    Adapter works great

    • Written by from Plano

Needed to project videos and slideshows onto big screen TV. Got this adapter and it works great. Videos displayed without a hitch. Slideshows gave me a little trouble. Talked to the Genius Bar and they diagnosed my slideshow problem as the Auto-Lock feature activating after 2 minutes of inactivity. I would have thought iOS would have recognized playing a slideshow would be viewed as activity, but apparently that's not the case. After changing the Auto-Lock timer to Never (at least for the duration of the slideshow) everything worked perfectly.

Haven't had the need to use the charging side of the adapter, but that is nice to have if running in a kiosk mode and running a looping slideshow or video for hours.

Used just a cheap HDMI cable with adapter. Everything I've read about HDMI cables is don't buy them from big box store. Huge profit on cables. My cable cost me $12. Its digital - they either work or they don't. Order a cheap cable off the internet and you're good to go.

Now have all my photos and videos on my iPad 3 displaying on HD TV and projector.

    It works well.

    • Written by from Arcadia

I like it. A few things to do to enjoy movies through this adapter.

You might need to remove your case to get a solid connection with the adapter.

You need to keep the iPhone/Pod Touch stable: the adapter is long, so keeping the device and the adapter on a table top or the floor at the same level is requisite.

Hook up the USB port to a power supply to keep the device charged while watching movies.

Having done the above, you'll get great HD input to your TV.

    Well worth the price.

I like to have movies, some are mkv, on my iPad for flights and also for hotels etc when on a trip. This device allows me to watch movies on the hotel TV and to view any photos I have taken and backed up onto the iPad.

AVPlayer hd is a good app for watching videos in any format without having to convert to an iTunes compatible format.

    Well-built, but expensive

Worked very well for mirroring Olympic content from CTV's app on our iPad2. Unlike AirPlay, apps don't need to be built with support. The only downside is the hit to the wallet!

    Shame on you Apple!

    • Written by from Wilkesboro

I purchased this cable for $39 to provide an extention for the 30-pin connector to my iPad 3. It clearly states on the package that mirroring is supported on iPad2 and newer. I get the Accessory Not Supported message. I paid a premium for a factory cable that's incompatible. If Apple cannot produce a cable that works with their own products, who can?

It is a shame that Apple did have the foresight to envision the need to dock or use other accessories on an iPad and other products that have a protective cover installed. For $499, a 30-pin extender should not only be available, it should have been included. I don't know anyone that depends on their iPad for business that doesn't use some sort of protective case or cover.

This product does exactly what Apple says it does!

    • Written by from Alexandria

I admit that I was somewhat skeptical about how well this product would actually work. The complainants were so adamant in their disapproval of this product's performance! I have an iPhone 4S and it is currently my only resource to access the Internet from home. This miracle of technology gives me access to just about everything (still waiting for that flash player app, though)! Is the picture "true" hi-def? I don't know -but there's no weird pixelation that I can see; everything looks great! I've read reviews for other products & apps before and it seems to always come down to connectivity. Get Wi-Fi, people! It makes all the difference. There's some poorly made apps out there, certainly, but I'm getting 1920x1080 @60hz (whatever that means) & I'm getting a great picture of exactly what's on my iPhone's screen! Movies, games, web browsing -and it's even making me a better typist as well! Thank you.

    DAV cable works great

    • Written by from Johnstown

I connected my new DAV cable from my television to an iPad 1, iPad 2, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch. Hardest part was finding the TV remote to switch the HDMI connection to the right port. Successfully tested a combination of Netflix, Keynote, picture slide show and videos on each device with great success. I'll try plugging into the projectors at work tomorrow.
