Where do i begin? LOL, this out beats Cisco in a long shot.

    Why I buy it?
-we needed a new router bc our linksys router kept dropping the signal to all our wifi devices at the same time and even right next to it.
-I liked the specs it had.

our wifi devices connects to extreme in a hart beet, turn them off and back on? less than a second your connected right away.

Our net speed jumped from 10MBPS to 21MBPS. (<BIG Difference)

It sounded so good that i was lookn at this thing and features and reviews for the last week and finnaly bought it.

so easy to install and connect.
    - no internet yet after plugg in?
    - unplugg all your internet service in your house like comcast modem plus the wireless modems connecting to your modem itself and replug it in and you should be up in no time.

Now my laptop is even faster ever than before, Linksys N310 was givn me 144MBPS, with this AirPort Extreme, my laptop is going 300MBPS out of the WILD ZOO!! my friend is in colledge and he couldnt believ his eyes of the imgs from speedtest on my FB page he was seeing. almost fell right out of his seat.

our devices like ipods and ds's n such are loading on the net alot faster than what our old router was doing, old router was loading to slow.

now to upgrade our broken ethernet cords to stay in the router with faster speeds, =D

I recommend you getting this, one of my friends decided to get himself one too.

MY family loves our new router all ready and its only been 2 days. :)

Very Zippy Upgrade to my Older Airport Extreme

I bought this because of the dual bands and the reviews which have said that the 5th generation airport extreme improves the speed of the network.

I am very pleased with the speed at which webpages load and the dual band means that I don't have to set my N band router to 2.5 GHz. All and all, this is a very nice update to the airport extreme router.

By the way, I found that installation was very easy and straight-forward, just what one would expect from Apple products.

Frequent Drops, Hangs, and LIMITED (and buggy) external USB H/D

Reading these glowing reviews, I'm wondering if I got a lemmon?!? What a disappointment. The router is dropping connectivity on the N side every day requiring a reboot. Also, what no one seems to tell you is that the ext USB hard drive support is only for FAT 16/32 and Mac HFS. It will not recognize a drive that is formatted EXFat or NTFS. Who uses Fat 16/32 anymore? Are you kidding me Apple? Although there are workarounds, this is CRAZY! Moreover, when I connected a HFS formatted (newer Seagate 1.5T) it too drops out several times a day. I had none of these issues with my old Linksys N-router; that baby would run for months without a hiccup, so the problem is not interferance. Speed and range are very good. This router is mindnumbingly simple to configure.

Amazing startup - excellent speed and compatibility

I hooked up our new AEBS today, replacing a 5 year old WR54TG WiFi router that dropped out aperiodically and often with our new Macbook Pros. Our system has the MBPs, iPhone, iPad, wireless Epson printer and a 7 year old Samsung HDTV connecting WiFi through a Sony Blu-Ray DVD player with a USB wireless stick. The router connects to a Comcast cable modem (cable/internet/voice). Completely powered down the Comcast modem (and removed the battery) for a few minutes. Ran the AirPort Utility to set up the network which simply asked for a new password. Turned on the Comcast cable modem and it worked perfectly. Set each device to the new password and everything works fine. Total time to do this was a couple of minutes. This thing is blazing fast - I have never seen download speeds pushing 25 Mbps but that's what's happening here. Nice product!

Works well, and easy to setup. I wish it had QoS, and maybe another port to connect to, but otherwise it's a great stable, router!

Great wifi router. Connections are very fast, stable and offer good range. I have had mine for over a year and I have only had to reboot it twice in that entire time after power interruptions.

For the features it offers I would give it full marks however I do think not including an audio out port to enable airplay streaming was a mistake on Apples part. I feel like despite owning the Airport Extreme and 2 Airport Express devices, I still need one more Airport Express to complete my set up.

Best Router I Have Ever Owned

I picked this router up the other day after lightning took out my old one. I have owned 6 different routers over the years and this apple airport extreme is by far the best one of them yet (so far). I have not experienced any drop connections from my devices. Signal strength is very strong and I have 2 iphone 4's, 1 ipad 2, and 2 macbook pros on the network. Sometimes all at the same time. Super easy to setup and printer setup is easy too. I recommend this to anyone on the fence about spending the extra $ for apple products.

I have been through so many routers, and this was one is by far the best one. I can use my iPad outside, on the other side of the house which I couldn't with Lynskey's or the Motorola , even the cable company's rented router was worthless. I would never use any other router for my wireless needs, a great speed improvement with my Internet, not only can I stream Netflix movies, but I can be on the computer watching you tube videos with no problems what so ever.

Perfect for the home environment, and when combined with the Airport Express I have sound in every room as well as wireless extended out to the patio.

In response to JD from Santa Barbara: So, do we give you one star because you acted on an assumption and failed to read the Overview of the Extreme, or even look at an image, before you purchased it? Take a big, personal step and assume responsibility, rather than shuffling blame off on the "Monopoly".

I've been using my AEBS for a couple of years now and it still works great. Fast speeds, easy to use, etc. Just thought I'd share a review from someone who's been using it for a couple years now.

I bought this from Future Shop after the suggestion of one of their staff members. He said that the features this product offered me would be perfect for setting up and maintaining my wireless internet connection with my MacBook Pro. I have always believed in the superiority of Apple products, and this is by-and-far NO EXCEPTION.

Amazingly easy to set-up with my MacBook Pro, I was up and running my own wireless internet connection within 45 seconds (including the time it took me to name my network).

Keep up the great work, Apple!

    Working very well

I've had the extreme set up for a week now and it's working very well. Was having many issues from ISP supplied wireless router not covering home well at all. Using this extreme with an express in extend mode and I'm getting very good performance in areas that previously wouldn't even connect at all, much less provide good performance.

Also backing up macs in the house to a 2TB hard drive being hosted by the extreme.

Most of all, it took no time at all to set up. I spent more time trying to figure out how to turn off the wireless network on the other router. Airport Utility is great.

For me, the extreme is a no fuss solution that delivers in all the needed ways.

If you have Apple TV's, multiple devices like iPad, iPhone, iPod, iMac, PC's, etc; this AirPort Extreme is a true problem solver. We were having random connection issues with the Cisco Router, but since replacing it with the Airport, after setting it up in seconds with the Airport, haven't had a problem since. Another true Apple plug and play.

End of the Love Affair w/ my Airport Extreme

I have had my Airport Extreme for two years now. It has worked flawlessly for the majority of the time. It is the hub for our wireless network including a Win 7 desktop, Win Vista (stop snickering) laptop, Mac Mini, iPhone 3GS, iPad 4, iPad Mini, and Lexmark Printer. Up until recently, all devices connected flawlessly with stable connections at impressive speeds.

This all changed about two months ago. I am not sure if it was due to a firmware update, increase in network traffic in our building, or that the device itself is failing, but the range of the Airport Extreme has been literally cut in half. Now, we can barely get a signal even in the next room. I went through all the channels thinking it might be signal interference before buying an Airport Express in hopes of extending, strengthening, and stabilizing the connection. Nothing seems to work. The connections are weak and intermittent.

The Airport Extreme was awesome when it was working properly, but a mere two years later, there is definitely something wrong. I do not know if the device has simply reached the end of its life cycle or if the recent software updates crippled it. Either way, I think the love affair with my Airport Extreme is over; it is obviously time to move on.

Very fast, cool design, fair price!

It's really fast and you really don't notice any other devices using the station in the connectivity, the option to open a guest network is simply great. The design is very "Apple-Like" and the price is fair. But I only gave 4 stars, because there is no modem in it, and I don't understand it. Where's the probleme to build a modem into the station? Maybe it'd push up the price a little bit, but I'd pay it. Now you have to buy a modem (which is not from Apple) and you need more space. That doesn't look very good and for me it's unusual.

    Reliability and speed

I tried 2 other brands in the $40 to $50 range. The first one needed reset daily, and the 2nd caused all sorts of delays and hang-ups using AirPlay (I couldn't get music to stream). I have AT&T U-verse or home Internet, which is supposed to be fast. I loved when I powered up the AirPlay, and connected my IPAD - It walked me through it! Now I'm pushing Pandora over Airplay, while watching Netflix, and push my home network really hard. It doesn't flinsh. I haven't played with any advanced network features and really don't care to. Nothing's more important that reliability and speed.
