    XBOX Live Works Again!!!!

    • Written by from Omaha

Long story short. This router ROCKS! Especially for online gaming! I have tried and tried and spent tons of money on high end routers. I got descent connections but over time the connection seemed to get stale or drop packets alot.

Today I bought the Extreme and got online with my buddys playing one on one bball and this time absolutely no lag!

Just be sure to follow instructions to setup xbox ip for open NAT.

    Fantastic

I purchased this to replace a WNDR3300 that was running DD-WRT. I was hesitant at first but I needed to get more signal strength thru the house. I have an older home with a lot of lathe and plaster. The router is on the 3rd floor. With my old router large videos streaming to my apple TV 2 on the first floor buffered a lot. Now with the AE in place everything streams perfectly. Many of these videos are 720p as large as 10gb. Very happy with this purchase.

    Best AirPort yet

    • Written by from Simi Valley

Dissatisfied with the loading speed of my internet connection, my son, who has become quite computer savvy, suggested I get the latest AirPort; that it might be the older AirPort slowing down the speed. He mentioned the latest AirPort has two channels which would speed things up. I ordered it. Device and instructions in hand, I decided to see if I could get it up and running without him. First I made sure my computer and AirPort software were at least what the instructions said. They were. Then I used my iphone to take a picture of each page (settings) of my current AirPort setup. When I plugged in the new AirPort I got a steady yellow light. Not good. Rebooted my modem as suggested. No change. Went to the computer and worked through the software. Note: no changes will happen until you click "Apply" or whatever it says in the bottom right corner. After a few minutes I was all set, and the light on the AirPort went green. There is a noticeable increase in speed with this AirPort. I have been very happy with the purchase. Buy it.

    Amazing Router!

    • Written by from Seattle

After having my Linksys router fail after only a year of use, I decided to try the AirPort extreme after hearing only good things about it. I plugged it in and run the AirPort Utility on my MacBook Pro. In a matter of minutes, I had fast WiFi throughout the house and was able to print from all four of my Macs and my iPad via the AirPort.

I love this thing and can only recommend it.

    Fantastic product!

This is the second Airport Extreme I bought. I'm using it with my old one (2nd gen Airport Extreme) to create a Wireless LAN with 2 segments. I cannot believe the speeds I'm getting!
The airport extreme series from Apple are absolutely great.
Extremely easy to set up yet powerful with no compromises.
    Love it!

The easiest and most powerful router I've ever set up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Naples

I've been thru the high end versions of Netgear, Trendnet, cisco linksys and Belkin... and sick of them I bought an Airport Extreme and couldn't believe how easy and straight forward it is to set up this baby, I use Wifi Analyzer to monitor my wifi speed when transferring large files from my MacBook pro to my server using 5GHz and open authentication with out broadcasting the SSID and is pretty steady at 450 Mbps within 30ft range and 365 Mbps at 40ft, I stream HD movies from my server while Airplaying to my HDTV with out any delays.
BEST ROUTER YOU CAN BUY WITH NO DOUBT!!!!!!!!!

P.S. after a week I realize that I actually needed a Time Capsule (because you cannot back up wirelessly by plugging an external HDD to the airport extreme) so I exchanged it and it is exactly the same product plus a 2TB HDD

Excellent experience setting up. Wonderful product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Miami

Installation was quick, in 20 minutes I had my whole network up and running. 4 telephones, 1 PS3, 1 Xbox, 4 Laptops, 2 desktops 1 Mac Pro and a Gateway desktop, and a brothers MFC 8860dn network printer. I replaced a Dlink which served me for 3 years. However, it was dropping the signal very often. The feature I like the most is how easy it gets to update the router software. You have to be a computer wiz to make an update on other routers I have owned. The only negative is that the light from the router kept me up all night because it is too bright. I have the router in my room. I will place some tape to cover it. I had an issue with my printer not printing. However after a printer factory reset it was immediately printing from all computers. I recommend this Airport Extreme 100% you will not be disappointed.

    Worth the money!

    • Written by from Des Plaines

After using Linksys and Netgear routers for many years, our connection kept dropping. I read the reviews of the Airport Extreme and since we have two Macs, an iPad and an iPhone in addition to one PC that I use for my embroidery machine, I decided that Apple was the way to go. I've never regretted that decision. Since we bought the Extreme, we have not dropped our Internet connection once! It's a keeper!

    Wow experience !!!!

    • Written by from San Gabriel

Bought it after Thanksgiving 2011. Setup 2 macbook pro 13", 1 PC, two iPad2, 3 iPhones and one Nokia cell phone in 15 mins. Anyone should be able to put your own network without any issue. The range of this thing is amazing!! Also being able to support 50 users at the same time is bonus (although only 7 of us living together). We are buying another one for our small office of 11 staffs. Extra bonus on able to share one printer/hard drive. Thanks Apple for such wonderful product.

    Exceptional

    • Written by from Traverse city

Simply exceptional. Worth the price. Easy installation, 10 minutes. We pay for 100 meg high speed. My Sony laptop was only getting 60 meg. Once Airport was installed, 100 meg download everytime. Laptop is connected to ethernet. No crashing. Smooth video, fast, secure and tripled my distance. Most of my wifi devices, iphones, ipods, ipads, tvs and ps3 gets about 30-45 meg. Frankly, you get what you pay for generally. The buck is big but the bang is bigger! Must buy. Simply exceptional.

    Apple extreme base unit

    • Written by from fish camp

Att&t 2 wire gateway modem is a piece of junk with apple computers, dropped connections constantly. I bought this base unit and bridged it to the gateway modem and the connection has not failed in 3months. I run an imac, ipad, ipad 2, macbook and 3 ipod touchs on this router. Best thing i ever purchased besides all the macs. The expensive value is well worth it, less headaches with dsl company and twice as fast and completly stable. Excellent product! 5 min to setup!

    Instant Wifi

    • Written by from Winnipeg

To provide better coverage in a multi-level home, I recently replaced a Linksys router with the Extreme and a single Airport Express. From opening the boxes to a functioning network required about 15 minutes and the performance is outstanding. Easily connected a HP 1102W for wireless printing from two Windows PCs, iMac, MacBook, two iPads and two iPhones.

    What a difference!

    • Written by from Millbury

I am changing the house over to Apple! I just installed the AirPort Extreme and the performance and range is outstanding. I switched out a Netgear 2.4gz wireless router for this and it was easy. I had one issue with the DNS entry for the cable modem and getting out on the Internet...thought that should be automatic. .worked w/charter ..everything came up very easy. You don't have to be to technical if setting up with a PC ..I could not wait for my iMac to come and decided to install the AirPort Extreme .ahead of time. iPhones, iPad, Apple TV, iMac, backup, thermostats, home automation....all in process of being setup. The range is also something that is awesome! I'm in the far end of the house...60' ...full bar strength....crazy! I have charter and getting now 22mbs / 3.4mbs up.....very good experience ..can't wait to set the rest up...

    Brilliant!

I tried 2 Cisco routers - E4200 and E4500. They looked really cool but the speeds were highly inconsistent with both these routers. Bought the AirPort Extreme and have it for over a month now ... I absolutely love it! Setup was a breeze and the speeds are phenomenal. Highly recommended!!

Recommended upgrade from older Airport Base Stations

    • Written by from Long Beach

Greatly improved signal strength and observed internet speed. Printer no longer drops. No longer looks for networks. New unit is able to punch signal around or through metal objects and lath walls. Very pleased. Elegant design and EZ set up. Readily accepts addition of Airport Express and Apple TV.

I cannot tell you how easy to set up (plug and play) and worry free device is the Airport Extreme, it just simply works. Never fails (knock on wood), and just to think about those days that I had a Lynksys wireless router... What a mess!! If you are looking for a reliable router, get this one, its worth every penny. My Home Network works great with all my Apple devices; iMac, MacBooks and Airport Express for wireless music around the house!
