    Phenomenal.

I own numerous devices capable of similar function, but none are as easy to use, as elegant, and as efficient as my Apple TV. Given the ability now to handle 1080p content (with mild, acceptable compression), there is no reason not to own and use this as a primary media provider for your large-format devices.

I recently purchased this router to replace a linksys router I have had since 2005. I recently had a bear of a time configuring the linksys router due to the fact my wifes pc had to work on an 802.11a 5ghz signal and my other mac books and ipad were using an 5ghz N network. I cant have a 2.4 ghz network due to my cordless phones. When the linksys finally took its last breath, I prepared myself for a weekend in network configuration nightmare land. I went with the airport extreme for the dual band broadcast and ports on the back-plus we have just about everything Apple. So when I settled in on Sunday expecting to be grilled on settings all day, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Apple mantra of "it just works." follow through with the Airport extreme. I swear I must have set a record with how quickly it set up 2 separate networks plus a guest network to boot in under 20 min. Awesome! Signal strength was better and speed was faster than the previous networks. Absolutely love the airport extreme and hats off to Apple again for just making it work.

So simple to set up. Within minutes I had a complete wireless network in my apartment. I also like the fact I was able to hook up my external HD with 955 movies right to it. Makes watching them on Apple tv so much easier. Thanks apple you all a great

Got it today Can't be happier. The installation was a bit long but I ended up finding that i needed to restart my modem. Amazing speed, I currently have connected 2 iphones, 2 laptops, smart Tv and no problem at all. One great thing was that i connect my printer to the network. I also created a guest network for friends. Great ways to set it up with airport utility. Amazing product. The router look beautiful by the way.

I used to get constant drops with ATT DSL 6.0 and 2wire. Currently using my old Westell with AE - no drops in 2 months. I could never set up AE with 2wire - seemed too complicated for me.

We have 3 macs, 1 iPhone, Apple TV, netflix...everything works great even with 2 people streaming HD movies at same time. If you're struggling with ATT, go ahead and splurge on this. I can't believe I paid $100 for 2wire a couple of years ago!

I also have an HP printer/scanner hooked up for wireless printing and it works flawlessly, and setup was easy.

Worked correctly out of the box - easiest installation of any computer product I've ever had. Very fast. Handles all my peripherals, which include old Windows XP machines, Windows Vista machine, Blu-Ray, TIVO, and of course my Macbook. Had tried a Netgear N 600 but got so frustrated at trying to connect it I returned it. Did cost about twice as much as the Netgear - but this one works and uses Americans for tech support!

Long story short. This router ROCKS! Especially for online gaming! I have tried and tried and spent tons of money on high end routers. I got descent connections but over time the connection seemed to get stale or drop packets alot.

Today I bought the Extreme and got online with my buddys playing one on one bball and this time absolutely no lag!

Just be sure to follow instructions to setup xbox ip for open NAT.

I purchased this to replace a WNDR3300 that was running DD-WRT. I was hesitant at first but I needed to get more signal strength thru the house. I have an older home with a lot of lathe and plaster. The router is on the 3rd floor. With my old router large videos streaming to my apple TV 2 on the first floor buffered a lot. Now with the AE in place everything streams perfectly. Many of these videos are 720p as large as 10gb. Very happy with this purchase.

    USB 3.0 support needed!

I love the Airport Extreme! Except, it's missing one key thing: Support for USB 3.0 and also having more than just one usb port on the back. Three usb ports would be great. Otherwise, its the best router I have ever used. Got to admit, it puts Linksys and Trendnet to shame.

    Best AirPort yet

Dissatisfied with the loading speed of my internet connection, my son, who has become quite computer savvy, suggested I get the latest AirPort; that it might be the older AirPort slowing down the speed. He mentioned the latest AirPort has two channels which would speed things up. I ordered it. Device and instructions in hand, I decided to see if I could get it up and running without him. First I made sure my computer and AirPort software were at least what the instructions said. They were. Then I used my iphone to take a picture of each page (settings) of my current AirPort setup. When I plugged in the new AirPort I got a steady yellow light. Not good. Rebooted my modem as suggested. No change. Went to the computer and worked through the software. Note: no changes will happen until you click "Apply" or whatever it says in the bottom right corner. After a few minutes I was all set, and the light on the AirPort went green. There is a noticeable increase in speed with this AirPort. I have been very happy with the purchase. Buy it.

After having my Linksys router fail after only a year of use, I decided to try the AirPort extreme after hearing only good things about it. I plugged it in and run the AirPort Utility on my MacBook Pro. In a matter of minutes, I had fast WiFi throughout the house and was able to print from all four of my Macs and my iPad via the AirPort.

I love this thing and can only recommend it.

This is the second Airport Extreme I bought. I'm using it with my old one (2nd gen Airport Extreme) to create a Wireless LAN with 2 segments. I cannot believe the speeds I'm getting!
The airport extreme series from Apple are absolutely great.
Extremely easy to set up yet powerful with no compromises.
    Love it!

I've been thru the high end versions of Netgear, Trendnet, cisco linksys and Belkin... and sick of them I bought an Airport Extreme and couldn't believe how easy and straight forward it is to set up this baby, I use Wifi Analyzer to monitor my wifi speed when transferring large files from my MacBook pro to my server using 5GHz and open authentication with out broadcasting the SSID and is pretty steady at 450 Mbps within 30ft range and 365 Mbps at 40ft, I stream HD movies from my server while Airplaying to my HDTV with out any delays.
BEST ROUTER YOU CAN BUY WITH NO DOUBT!!!!!!!!!

P.S. after a week I realize that I actually needed a Time Capsule (because you cannot back up wirelessly by plugging an external HDD to the airport extreme) so I exchanged it and it is exactly the same product plus a 2TB HDD

Installation was quick, in 20 minutes I had my whole network up and running. 4 telephones, 1 PS3, 1 Xbox, 4 Laptops, 2 desktops 1 Mac Pro and a Gateway desktop, and a brothers MFC 8860dn network printer. I replaced a Dlink which served me for 3 years. However, it was dropping the signal very often. The feature I like the most is how easy it gets to update the router software. You have to be a computer wiz to make an update on other routers I have owned. The only negative is that the light from the router kept me up all night because it is too bright. I have the router in my room. I will place some tape to cover it. I had an issue with my printer not printing. However after a printer factory reset it was immediately printing from all computers. I recommend this Airport Extreme 100% you will not be disappointed.

Makes Bothersome Noise the 4th Gen Did Not

When I decided to return this, I wasn't sure if I wanted to write a review. Sometimes my opinions are so marginal, they aren't helpful to others. However, I'm desperate for an 802.11n dual band AP, and would really like one that would work seamlessly with my existing setup (which includes a 4th Gen Airport Extreme).

After trying several other APs, which I also found unacceptable, I've started searching again. Not only are my needs increasing with a Roku, iPad, and several other devices looking for high throughput WiFi, several less-technical friends have started asking for advice on similar issues.

It didn't take long scanning reviews to find one titled, "Buzzing, Fizzing, Hissing, Clicking." That reviewer gave the AE 1 star, which I think is harsh, but the annoying noises definitely make this unusable in a quiet office. I have the 4th Gen AE (which supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, but not simultaneously), and that model is completely silent.

As I'm not able to trade noise for performance, I'm still looking for a good dual-band N AP. At this point, I'm considering waiting for a product based on the evolving (draft) 802.11ac standard.

After using Linksys and Netgear routers for many years, our connection kept dropping. I read the reviews of the Airport Extreme and since we have two Macs, an iPad and an iPhone in addition to one PC that I use for my embroidery machine, I decided that Apple was the way to go. I've never regretted that decision. Since we bought the Extreme, we have not dropped our Internet connection once! It's a keeper!
