    Works, but poor design

Once you get your iPad onto the dock, it works fine. The base of the dock is weighted so that your iPad does not fall over easily. With a charger connected, it charges your iPad. With an audio cable, you can play music and podcasts to your radio or other powered speaker. Both nice features.

The problem is that getting your iPad to fit onto the dock is problematic. You have to line it up just right to work. Otherwise it slides off the dock all too easily. What this means in practice is that you can't just plop your iPad on the dock in a casual, one-handed manner and expect it to work. You have hold the iPad with two hands, take the time to line it up with the dock adapter, then insert it slowly. Not good if you are the impatient type - like me!

Should fit with Apple Brand iPad cases

The Smart Case interferes and doesn't allow iPad to plug into this Dock connector. Shouldn't have to pull the iPad out of the case just to use this - sort of defeats the purpose of a case, doesn't it Apple?

Not very stable, poor choice for the iPad.

Purchased with my new iPad 2 which is really too heavy for this dock, so I wouldn't use it for any length of time, particularly to leave it and walk away -- easy to tip over.

    Dock vs. cover

I purchased this dock to work with my new iPad and because other reviews indicated it would charge an iPhone4. Here's the straight answer: If you have an Apple cover on your iPad you must either open it or remove it to charge the iPad in the dock. If you have a skin cover on your iPhone4 it simply will not seat on the connector and hence will not charge. There is no way around these issues.

To their great credit, returning the dock to Apple is straight forward. And they even pay for the shipping and credit you for the original shipping costs.

do not bye if you have a smartcover or any other protection for your iPad. i never used it because then i would have to remove my covers and that made it completely useless.

    Useless

If you use a back cover for your Ipad, like I do, it's almost useless. You need to remove the cover every time. So I almost don't use it.
But it looks very professional ^^.

    Difficult to use

I would not recommend. It is very difficult to place iPad on the dock, with or without using a cover. To manipulate the iPad to engage the dock scratched the iPad.

Can't fit the iPad in the dock with the smart cover on. That's a pretty glaring flaw.
The iPad doesn't connect easily, it's a bit awkward to get it snapped in.
    Doesn't support landscape mode.

    Not that Dynamic

It's not bad if all you need is to have it sit upright, power up, and/or plug into your stereo; it fits nice 'n' snug and feels secure like what's expected from Apple...

It DOES NOT have IR sensor like the iPhone/iPad docks do so you CAN NOT use the Apple remote with it.

It also DOES NOT accommodate landscape mode.

You can only dock your iPad in one direction (portrait). I should've read the product description and / or reviews more carefully. I would return this but I already threw away the box.

I have a cover on front and back (both Apple products). It wouldn't plug in, too much bulk. I will return it.

The concept of the stand is great, but when you have the full package including smart cover it doesn't fit with the cover attached.

    Too light, too unstable

The dock is too light. When trying to undock my iPad 2, they both lift up together. Also, since the dock is so much narrower than the iPad, it tips too easily. The dock really needs to be as wide as the iPad and heavier.

    Base too narrow

I was disappointed when this charger for iPad2 arrived. The photo from the side looks good - but the charger is only about half the width of the iPad AND, you can't keep your cover on when its in the dock.

    Apple iPad2 Dock

The Dock is narrow, and it allows the iPad to rock under varying conditions... Ask yourself how long will the iPad's connecting port last under the stress of supporting it's entire weight by its connecting jack? I obtained my iPad 2 & dock less than 6 months ago, the dock no longer charges the iPad. Is it broken? No. The oblique angle simply no longer allows proper connection. I now have to similarly stress the original cable when connected to coax a charging connection. Pass on the dock and just use the supplied power cord.

DOES NOT WORK WITH IPAD SMART COVER

the unnecessary lip at the bottom prevents you from using this with the super awesome smart covers... how dumb can they be? I'm supposed to take my cover off every time i put it on the dock to charge?

$29 for a weighted piece of plastic that holds up the iPad 2. It works nicely, though you can forget entirely using a cover with the iPad if you are going to prop it up with this. I just cannot believe that the accessories for all things Apple are so incredibly expensive!

I will check back in five business days to see if they "allowed" my review. I will be shocked if they did.

    really misses the mark.

What do you mean I have to unplug the cable from my computer and plug it into a wall outlet to charge the I-Pad.

I would really like to use the stand to view the i-pad in landscape mode!

    Very disappointing

I bought the dock so i don't have to go pluging and unplugging all the cables I have, av addapter, audio cable and so on. But to my surprise, it actually won't work that way. If you have conected the tv (trhough av adpter) and a stereo at the same time, you only get the audio in the TV. But what is worst, is that even if you have the TV off, you won't listen through your stereo when you have the AV addapter conected. So you have to go plugging and unplugging all the wires. Then iit doesn't makes much sense, since you can do that anyways without the dock, and if you conect directly the av adapter, and the audio cable to the ipad, then you get simultanously the audio on the TV and the stereo!!!!

Very expensive for just a stand for the ipad.
